seems to be civil war in that camp

Court cases to come yet, Kemboy could be grounded for a while.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,625 ✭✭✭RivetingRoger

Hopefully someone comes in for Kemboy with an offer they won't refuse, that's if they are allowed to sell ??

That horse is too good, with too much potential to be another Labaik

I'd imagine they could not sell until all legal disputes have been sorted, especially if they have oversold shares.

Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite Kemboy could be prevented from running for the foreseeable future following a ban on entries or declarations for horses registered in the ownership of the Supreme Horse Racing Club.

The syndicator, which has risen to become a major force in jump racing through its involvement in the yard of champion trainer Willie Mullins, faces numerous allegations of financial impropriety from members, including some that extend to fraud and theft.

The Racing Post has been forwarded documents and correspondence in relation to those claims, one of which is that shares in Kemboy – a triple Grade 1 winner last season – have been oversold to a significant extent.

Some former Supreme members have moved towards taking legal action, with HRI having also concluded that a number of the allegations fall outside its remit.

However, Irish racing's governing body has been seeking answers from Supreme's management over some member complaints. It first contacted Supreme in August, asking for details relating to the membership of each horse registered in the company's name, including the size of all shareholdings.

HRI has subsequently made a series of additional requests to Supreme but failed to receive any of the necessary information.

On October 7 HRI informed Supreme it could no longer make withdrawals from its HRI owner account and issued a warning that the account would be suspended if all the information was not provided by October 18.

After that latest deadline came and went without a response, the club's account was blocked on Monday, meaning no entries or declarations will be accepted for any of its horses.

Who are Supreme Horse Racing Club?
Supreme Horse Racing Club was founded in 2011 by Steve Massey and Jim Balfry, and is one of Ireland's largest National Hunt syndicates.

It has around 500 members who, after paying an upfront cost for a share in one of the club's horses, pay a monthly fee to cover training costs and veterinary costs.

According to their website, Supreme Horse Racing Club has 29 horses in training, including Grade 1 winner Kemboy, with a maximum of 20 owners per syndicate.

In a statement to the Racing Post, HRI owner relations manager Aidan McGarry said: "Horse Racing Ireland has engaged with Supreme Horse Racing Club to seek information to resolve a number of queries and concerns.

"Following an unsatisfactory response from Supreme Horse Racing Club, Horse Racing Ireland, under Horse Racing Ireland Directive 15, has suspended Supreme Horse Racing Club's ownership accounts from all activity, including the running of horses from Monday, October 21.

"At all times Supreme Horse Racing Club was aware that the penalty for the non-delivery of the information requested by Horse Racing Ireland would be that a hold would be put on all entries and declarations for horses registered by Supreme Horse Racing Club."

That ban on entries and declarations is set to interrupt the programmes of numerous Mullins-trained horses, not least Kemboy, current 6-1 ante-post market leader for the Magners-sponsored Gold Cup. Last season's highest-rated jumper has been due to make his reappearance at Down Royal next Saturday in the Ladbrokes Champion Chase.

According to Supreme's website it currently owns 29 horses, other high-profile members of its team being Grade 1-winning hurdler Aramon, Topham Chase winner Cadmium and recent Listed hurdle winner Listen Dear.

The Racing Post has approached Supreme Horse Racing Club for a comment but has not received a reply.

Three other well-known jumpers who've been owned by Supreme Racing
    Airlie Beach

The winner of her first seven races under rules, Airlie Beach took the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novices' Hurdle at Fairyhouse in December 2016 before being sent off a 4-1 shot for the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival 102 days later.

She only ran over hurdles twice more, her final appearance being at Punchestown when a 14-length runner-up to Apple's Jade in the Mares Champion Hurdle later that season.

A short career on the Flat followed, where she won two of her three starts including one in Listed company at Galway in September 2017 before starting a broodmare career.

    Patrick McCann
    Cadmium

A promising seven-year-old chaser who reached new heights when an impressive winner of the Grade 3 Topham Chase over Aintree's Grand National fences in April

Now rated 162, has won seven of his 15 starts since joining Willie Mullins in November 2016 and, following his impressive display at Aintree, is a general 33-1 shot for next year's Crabbies Grand National.

    Aramon

German-bred, Aramon arrived at Mullins' Closutton stables from German trainer Markus Klug in July 2018 and excelled in novice hurdles throughout last season.

A Grade 3 winner at Navan in November, the six-year-old was campaigned exclusively in Grade 1 company for the rest of the season and gained a first success in top-level company in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting.

He is currently a best-priced 25-1 for next year's Champion Hurdle.

I think the HRI need a bit of starting stalls training. :)
They stood in the stalls when the gates opened and were very slowly away in this case.

So they will now sell 10 shares @ 5K each plus 2K a year for training. It's magic math.

I used to always check out the unnamed horses for sale out of the big yards. A quick search of the sales books would show you how much they paid for them. They would just add on 10 - 20K after a couple of months and then flog them to the syndicates. Shameless stuff.

Scum, I hope these people go to jail.

It'll be interesting to see how much Willie knew about the shenanigans going on here.
