As someone who cyles to work myself fair play to them. Its shameful how bad cycling infrastructure is here.
Way too many people clog the city centre with private cars that dont need to. The civil service have a ridiculous amount of car spaces in the city which sets such a bad example.

I’ve aleeady outlined my views on the aviation industry. It should be wound down until a zero Carbon version of aviation is found.

Well unfortunately that won’t happen anytime soon i’m afraid , even the government aren’t stupid enough to touch aviation .

I wonder did delaying the flight have the knock-on effect of planes having to circle around the airport waiting for their turn to use the runway? Which is delicious irony if it did.

I never thought of it that way. He's probably in league with BP. I'll shake that man's hand if we get a warmish summer in 2020! Here's hoping.:D

Would it not be down to too many cattle? I mean another poster says extensive farming is the way forward but that produces less food and needs more land. So surely we'd have to drastically reduce the herd and amount of dairy and beef we produce if we were to go down that road.
Does anyone agree that we need to reduce the amount of cattle in Ireland?

I don't think we need to reduce number of cattle in Ireland.
We are fairly good at rearing them.

We need to think global on this whole thing.

That means areas do what they are good at.
That means that Ireland rear cows, sheep.
Australia stops growing cotton, rice and vines that require irrigation and
    sucking the Murray Darling dry.

Farming in the likes of Saudi Arabia can't be sustainable when they are having to suck water out of aquifers 3000 feet underground.

I am not allowed discuss …

Mark my words if the climate crisis gets worse as it probably will knowing human nature, all flights will be grounded at some stage in the future. As well as fossil fuel burning. It’ll get that bad.

Not in favor of “frightening” ppl but honestly a bit of sober reality injected into the conversation on climate change and where we as a planet are headed is well required at this stage.

Do you know the actions required so we are not headed in that direction?

I'll tell you, there's nothing we can do to not end up in the position climate acitivists say we're going to.

The only thing we can do is slow the pace of the change. People say it will give time to come up with a solution to reverse it in future.

To take inspiration from Greta, all climate activists dream about is fairytails of technology advancement which will defy the laws of physics.

Humans consume resources. There are finite resources.

Just let us live our lives to the best we can ffs, stop giving us hardship in the name of our great great great great grandchildren. Just don't have kids!

I know for a fact that I would rather have 1m people with a good quality of life than 5m people with a ****ty quality of life.

What a charming character.......... cheating in paralympic events
The campaigner is a Paralympic cyclist who took bronze at the London 2012 Paralympic Games for Ireland in the cycling time trial. In 2016 he was banned from the sport for two and a half years for a doping violation.

They have rightly screwed up Merrion Square.

Was walking past there today and there is a tented village in the park there and then a row of soup kitchen type operations and a stage area.

Nothing against people protesting but 90% of the people I saw there were dressed like (and I am generalising here) they just moved on from another protest.

Sounds like you’ve confirmed tickets for a zoo or a carnival freak show. Just remember no matter how much the kids cry you can’t just take a protester home. They are for life and not just the protest week they will pine away if not on their natural environment blocking ordinary people going about their business and making a general nuisance of themselves.

Speaking of whiffs, There's a lot of household waste after accumulating in the backyard. I'm off out now to burn a gallon of diesel and a mountain of rubbish and plastics. It might take two gallons, it doesn't burn well in the rain. O goodie, there's even a tyre from the car trailer in there, should be fun.

Don't think they do. These people don't think the way normal folk think. The lunatic asylum is the best place for a lot of these ''protesters''

Anyone with an ounce of impartiality can see they are alarmists just enjoying their time in the spotlight. It matters not to them that they are mostly in the spotlight because everyone is laughing at them.

This spokesperson specifically says they are being “alarmist” to get attention and absolutely concedes that deaths through severe weather related events are down 95%, she concedes that billions of people will not die from climate change. This moronic alarmist talk and behaviour just tunes the population out and so no sensible conversation can be had as a result.

BUT Thelonious - as pointed out the numbers are not going up. The fact is that we have less cattle now than we did in 1973!

And yet you persist with this daft line of argument in practically every thread - is it that you are being paid by the vegsn ministry of propaganda or similar by any chance to keep repeating this nonsense?

I can't think of any other reason tbh ...

Got up this morning, heating was already on burning oil that came from halfway around the world, had a quick shower using gel & shampoo leaving micro plastic 'polishers' down the drain to end up in the sea & the fish. Put on my cheap clothes made of plastic (oil). Put on the kettle & toaster & pan with electricity made from burning coal and gas and oil. Took me cheap rashers ( from grain fed pigs in massed produced unsustainable systems) out of their plastic packaging which will be burried somewhere. Had one f**k off brekkie. Got into my metal and plastic and rubber box to go to work all the time burning oil and emmiting no2 co2 co and various cancer causing particulets.
At work I find ways of selling people **** they don't need.
Drive home and put on the heating and a wash of plastic clothing while micro fibers come loose and head down the sewer and out to sea along with more micro plastic 'polishers' from the detergent. Cook myself a very processed meal (with ingredients from around the planet) whilst watching a big plastic box full of light telling me I should buy a newer car 'coz the neighbors will envy me.
Spend an hour on my phone looking at package holidays to the Caribbean & thinking if I sell more **** to people who don't need it I will afford it.
Go for a walk before bed, bit of a smell in the air whatever it is. Night night.... don't let the bed bugs bite....
