Was in Dublin today, heading Tallaght direction. Garda car passed me on blues/twos but I noticed the lightbar wasn't on?

It was just the auxiliary lights (bumper etc.). Would that be a defective/fault issue, or a conscious decision? I'm assuming it was just broken? Though if damaged, I'm surprised to see it out and about on the road doing a (partial) blue light run.

Option is there should the crew want to

Defective vehicles wouldn't surprise me at all either....

Many drive with bulbs out and extremely dirty vehicles no issues.

It was fairly rough looking the last time I spotted it. She was in a fair few bumps over the years. It'd have to be near it's mileage limit by now.

My thoughts exactly, considering the ANPR camera was mesh and glued onto the boot of a marked Avensis notso long ago...

I seen an unmarked Mondeo last night with all lights activated, no siren, lighting looked very poor on it. The lights in the rear window were flashing red and blue but it certainly looked like the car had been fitted with Halfords lighting special offer :p . The actual car had no hud caps which didn't help it's 'official' appearance.

What year was it the mark 4 as they look very well marked up.

The estate are the high powered ones too....

Seen an unmarked fiesta / focus white with a big poorly / scrapily taped on N plate on the rear.

Dunno if it's a decoy to put you off or the driver is on N plates.

If it were white I'd say it was ex Garda as many buy in auction and end up still Looking the same as new owner drive on as it was.

2011 i'd say, silver it was.

The Traffic Mondeos do look well. High powered? What engine?

The 2013 ones were 197bhp I believe. Twin exhaust just a pity they put steelies on them.

No this was active duty 11 plate (I think 11)

Definitely active... Followed a squad car, another unmarked car and a garda van into a carpark.

But what gave it away was the garda with his uniform on under the goody who got out :P

Still lots of those early 06 - 07 Fiestas still around. I never seen them with the new shape ones though.

    The 06 - 07 were a great little bus.

Id say stick on for a laugh or to try go stealth.

It's like many you would see with NCT disc of some other car and sometimes even an out of date insurance disc just to blend in more.

Whenever you would see the single holder with just tax it was a give away.

Used to be 1.6 d4d engines, were actually decent enough for a car that size!

Most were petrol till after 2006-7....

Most saloon cars like primera, avensis were 1.6 petrol, Mondeo were 1.8 or 2.0 petrol obviously there were the 2.2 and 3.0 then too, Camry were 2.2 or 2.4 petrol, corolla and Almera were 1.4 petrol, 2008 Mondeo onwards were in most cases diesel and so much more....

That unmarked golf from the UK is a rarity in having a good lighting setup. Normally UK unmarked are a ble light on dash and maybe in the front grills.

    It's a doctor's car....

Has more lights on it then any Garda vehicle and is up there with the specialist units in the UK.

Pity this isn't the actual standard as what is on the i30/40 is laughable to be honest and can't be seen....

Tbf the superbs and golf r have decent lighting for what they are.

I40 went by me the other day with only wig wags and rear blues on.

Yes I'll give them that, they actually would be up there as I said special units....

The LED light fittings are so small these days they can hide them anywhere and still stay extremely discreet....
