Probably could have fit most of the Octavia in the Passat boot as well, they're like a cave.

Just after moving to the middle east and got an interim car today, a 3.8 pajero V6 SWB. Does the job but painfully slow. Filled it up from about the quarter tank to brimmed for the princely sum of €24 for 45 litres.

Nah, the books are closed until 2020. Trying to decide what to get once we do get settled will be fun. Wife likes the look of the Chevy Tahoe, GMC yukon or a Dodge Durango so I can get something V8. If I had been staying in Ireland I'd be in a CLS by now so it's tempting me to look at a CLS550 here but SUV's are the safest bet. Large BMW petrols are to be avoided at all costs by all accounts unfortunately and I would like to own something I can't have back in Ireland.

Ya the CLS is a nice machine! Did you see the Lexus LX570 yet? They are some machine!

They are everwhere but quite expensive. The Toyota sequoia is quite nice looking too.

The low tyre pressure warning on the Golf is like the boy who cried wolf unfortunately today it was correct rear tyre big screw quite close to the side wall. Probably too close to patch so not sure what I’ll do need to try get something done with it in the morning. Absolute pain as I am going to a wedding tomorrow and had about a million other things to do. Plus it was a brand new tyre with about 2k km on it. Car could be going to the wedding fairly dirty at this rate.

Happened me. I had put 2 new tyres on and another 2 two weeks after as delivery was mixed up ...

I ended up having to but 2 more the next week.

    Hi all

Does anybody know if Audi door mirror glasses are glued on or clipped on?

My driver's door mirror is vibrating slightly, I think I see a small mark so maybe someone clouted it.

I'd like to get this fixed before it falls off completely!

    Cheers

I don’t think any manufacturer glues them in?

Yes its probably 20mm in from the sidewall so too close to patch. For tomorrow I think I will have no choice but to plug it as I am not going to get anyone in kilkenny selling that exact tyre in that size and I am not going to buy a different brand as then the tyres wouldn't match on that axle. Its on the rear of the car I am not too fond of plugs but I don't have many other options for tomorrow in the short term should be ok.

Yeah I meant to the metal carrier piece, sorry if that wasn't clear. The electric adjustment works fine.

From what I've seen online the glass comes loose because someone has hit the mirror or the heated function stays on and softens the glue. Then I've seen someone suggest clipping it back in. I might have a go at it over the weekend but Audi quote €84 for a new mirror glass so I'd like to have an idea what I'm looking at!

We had to replace a €200 Michelin RFT with about 500km on it when a nail somehow ended up in the side of it. I feel your pain!

Filled the car with petrol at a circle k today, and noticed that the sticker on the pump said it was 97 octane. I thought we only have 95 octane in Ireland?

From a quick google it looks like it was a thing a few years ago. Don't see any mention of it on their website now. The do have milesPLUS 95 unleaded on the website so maybe you were at a petrol station that had old stickers or maybe I am wrong and they decided to bring it back maybe someone in the know will say.

Saw an Audi e-tron today; 192-D12945. Very like a q5 but shoulders narrower than its hips. Marked as 55 Quattro - is the 55 a means of equating petrol, diesel, electric? Interesting if it is.

It's Audi's daft new way of differentiating the different power outputs of their engines.

And interestingly (?) acceleration rather than power. So a 2.0 TDI 150 on an A3 would have a different magic number than the same engine in an A4 or whatever,

They must have ran out of new ways to combine red letters on the boot lid. :)

I was wondering what them numbers were as I've seen 35, 45 and 55

It's based on the power output:

    25 – 80kW (107bhp) and below
    30 – 81-96kW (109-129bhp)
    35 – 110-120kW (148-161bhp)
    40 – 125-150kW (168-201bhp)
    45 – 169-185kW (227-248bhp)
    50 – 210-230kW (282-308bhp)
    55 – 245-275kW (329-369bhp)

I don't think there's any difference in the numbers used between individual models?

Plus the new S4 is a diesel!!!

Washed the cars this morning. We have a navy Alhambra that I never really look twice at to be honest. Only noticed today after a wash and some sunshine it has serious flake in the paint work. It's almost like a glittery purple. No doubt if it was on a premium car it would be like a 3k individual colour or something.
