The demand for these proc's has been pretty unexpected. I don't think AMD would expect the 3900x would eat into the high end market this much.

Yes but look at them slashing the price on the 3700X

Aye. The shops are price gouging now though.

    It's just supply-and-demand.

What are the full system spec?

    ryzen 3600
    rtx 2060 super
    16gb ram 3200
    b450 tomahawk
500 ssd navi (os installed on it)
    h100i cooler
    2tb hd
    win10 pro

seems to crash anytime i play a game although not instantly, after a few minutes of been in a game it will crash but it seems very random.
Downloading a game right now and it crashed

It is one of the (lesser) reported issues with the tomahawk but could also be a duff PSU.

Mental you could be sold and delivered a fully assembled pc that has such issues. Should have been found while testing it.

After nearly a week with our 3600 and the temps are so much higher than what were used to. Really really need good case airflow and a decent cooler. First time using the stock AMD cooler so I don't know how it matched up to aftermarket ones. My young lad's case fans are very very loud when he's gaming. I'll have to add more if I can.

I don't know how anybody can lash these things into a cramped itx case, the temps must be insane.

I'm hoping my H500 can cope. My X570 arrived earlier.

Very odd when you consider the praise the stock cooler is getting from reviewers.

Youtuber Bitwit has the 12 core in a tiny itx system with zero space and a tiny aio and it works fine if a little hot.

I'd be curious how this compares temps wise to a 1600 or 2600?

Have you got all the cables plugged in etc ?

1/ start system up and monitor functioning of the system (I like HWinfo, https://www.hwinfo.com/download/ it will monitor all aspects of your system inclusive maximum temps) just play about on the desktop, internet and keep an eye on temps, loads etc.

2/ check graphic card is mot faulty. using HWinfo to monitor, start light loads and wait till it crashes observing temps etc.

Do you have the cooler locked down correctly and fan connected ?

    It seems quite strange.

It really should have been tested at CCL. Unless it got a bad knock in shipping but i'd say it wasn't tested for long enough.

Just going from memory here as I'm in work.
But it seems it was a DCOM issue or something like that.
I hvnt had a chance to test it but it's like a security error or something.
Il be able to post more but my understanding was I had to go into the registry an change ownership of one of the things there and set my new ownership to full control instead of read only.
When I done this I rebooted my PC and lost all audio even though drivers where ok and upto date just no audio at all in the PC.
Rebooted again and audio came back and no crash's but I haven't tested it properly yet.
It's very annoying and I believe it was in testing for about 2 hours which is not long enough
I've ordered from PC specialist before and they tested for 2 days

The stock cooler is quiet but its cooling performance I'm not sure off, temps get high enough that the case fans ramp up to high rpm during gaming. I've a fan curve set so that they don't head towards high RPM until after it hits 70c.

Interesting. I need to monitor his actual temps, I'm just going by the noise of the thing really, but I'm not sure how accurately we can do that right now since these things don't seem to like most monitoring software.

Yeah everything good that end. It idles in the high 40s so everything goes from there really. Gaming and with a constant 1.45 volts going through it its not hard to see why it's as hot as it is.

I'll play around with the wraith fan curve and set it higher so that maybe the case fans won't ramp up as high as they do, the wraith is quieter than them.

It's just the new CPU process. You will likely find that despite what look like bad temps on paper, your CPU cooler is probably not hot to touch. It's just tougher to dissapate heat from the new CPU's I think.

Should also alter your case fans in the bios, mine were also set to match CPU and as a result my fans were ramping up even browsing the web. I just set my CPU and case fans to run at 50% all the time and they're pretty quiet, and temps are more or less identical to what they were before anyway.

Worthy test - go to the BIOS and dial back the RAM frequency to the default of 2133 and then check if the issues keep happening.

If that proves to be the issue, good news - it's fixable; bad news - it's going to be a boring and long "trial and error" process to get back to working 3200 Mhz settings.

You might be experiencing the "high voltage" issues many BIOS seems to have.

You might try something like this:

    Will need stability testing 'though.

I am not sure about the last part - there are none left from where I come from in Italy. All PC parts stores that were there when I left some 10+ years ago are now either smartphone shops or have closed down entirely (imagine my surprise when I walked to one of the biggest ones I used to go to and found a pharmacy instead). A quick internet search pops up shops that pretend to be PC stores, but in reality are office supplies places - they have the odd laptop charger and printer cartridge, but not much more.

Speaking with a few lads at the office from Spain and France they tell me the exact same; But then again, maybe it depends on the city; Gaming and high-end PCs have never been a "thing" in southern Italy, even when the shops were there. I can imagine there'd still be some in say Milan or Paris.

I might need to clarify this.

You see Americans always talk about heading to Microcenter to get the best deals off the shelf. Its the best brick and mortar store in the states to get stuff. There are 25 of them in total. In stupid dense areas like NewYork there are 4. There are 2 in Texas, where they started. I wouldn't be surprised if each store has a potential customer base that mirrors the whole of Ireland. I also wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Americas don't think anything of a 4-5 hour motorway trip to microcenter to get those parts.

Outside of that its pretty much just "Best Buy" and they can afford to take the hit on stock depreciation with their turnover just to say they sell it.

So yeah, there are some stores in large citys in Germany and England but for the most part, its a industry that really works well with really tight supply chains.

Sure Dell in Limerick made its suppliers rent warehouses beside it and store stock to be purchased by Dell only when they needed it, so they didn't have to take any depreciation hit.

Usually with those promos now, there's a validation process, software will check that you have the correct CPU/GPU installed.

Nice so the heat pipe is how they can go passive. Never actually looked at a picture of that board till you posted it.

Buildzoid mentioned it in his Gigabyte ramble.
The other reason it can go passive is that the VRM design is so overkill that its VRMs shouldn't heat up much/at all, meaning the heatsink has heat capacity enough for the X570 chipset.

On the promo they don't stack and you have to download a validation tool.
