    Nice find Duke!

Certainly looks good from the photos alright
I think a lot of these had rust issues, but the fact it has a new NCT shows that's in order
I notice the front passenger wheel is totally different to the rest which is a pity as it seems that parts for these are becoming very hard to find

Taxed until Feb next year and NCT until July next year though. That won't sit around too long!

What appears to be a very low mileage 1996 W210 E230 (58,000 miles!)
    NCT until April next year
If its as clean as it looks in the pics and free from rust, this would be a nice car to have on a classic policy
    €1350

Hi Duke, That is a cracker, Liberty won't touch it , even though I have a policy with them. I have a classic policy with F.B.D. so I need a daily "driver" for to maintain this policy. Any ideas!

Hm. Axa should give you a quote on it, I've always found them very good to deal with on older cars.

    I always liked these.
    Low mileage.
Motor tax won't break the bank.
Probably go for closer to €500.
Bought it today for 400 nice and tidy little runaround for my wife

Best avoid the 1.6d versions, not the most robust engine. They are based on the Ford Focus so interior cabin space is rather tight.

Hmm that could be an issue

    3 car seats

Would an s60 or s80 be a better option then

Hi folks, long time lurker of this thread. I'm in the market for a banger and seem to have landed on a 2007 hybrid Civic but I remember someone here talking about them recently. The issue is, I can't remember if it was good or bad things being said. Can anyone help?

Wife has a 08 civic hybrid. Have it well over a year and been faultless. The hybrid battery was goosed when we bought it but replaced by garage under warranty with a reconditioned one from hybrid batteries ireland. If the battery hasn't been replaced then it will need to be I'd say. A good hard spin and ima light will come on.
We took it from cork to Donegal last summer on holidays and averaged 55mpg with 4 in car and all luggage.

Yeah I have an 07 one that I got cheap in April. Its a grand car, no battery lights on the dash yet but I am not very comfortable with it because I know it is going to come on sooner or later. Other than that its a grand car.

    Saab 9-5 2 litre petrol
Little bit pricey but alot of car for the money and could do worse I think.

Definitely not the V50 anyway. The missus had an S40 for over 2 and half years, the 2 litre diesel, and while the car was great with no issues and very economical, it's way too small for 3 car seats and the V50 is identical inside apart from the boot area.

They actually dropped the price on this today. It had been at €950 and with the tax paid up until next Feb, it's killing me, but I have no room for another Saab! :D

If I could sell my own car tomorrow, I'd quite happily take that on for six months. The tax alone means you'd probably get most of what you paid for it back, when it expires.

The 2l petrol had a sludge problem that was fixed from 2004. The 2005 one should be post-fix but I'd make sure to check. Apart from that a SAAB 9-5 should be fairly reliable for a car that costs about €100 after you subtract nearly a years tax from the price. Obviously for something of that age and condition things can go wrong or may need replacement so assess the condition as much as the general reliability of the model.
