Hmm that could be an issue

    3 car seats

Would an s60 or s80 be a better option then

I've banged this drum before but 3car seats = Smax

    Do you need a diesel?

    Saab 9-5 2 litre petrol
Little bit pricey but alot of car for the money and could do worse I think.

Definitely not the V50 anyway. The missus had an S40 for over 2 and half years, the 2 litre diesel, and while the car was great with no issues and very economical, it's way too small for 3 car seats and the V50 is identical inside apart from the boot area.

NCT till March, tax till Feb, 1 owner (not an import) - €799

Tax alone is worth a nice few quid!

    06 Citroen c4

    Best of luck with it.
At €400 you can't go too far wrong.
    Very stylish car.

They actually dropped the price on this today. It had been at €950 and with the tax paid up until next Feb, it's killing me, but I have no room for another Saab! :D

If I could sell my own car tomorrow, I'd quite happily take that on for six months. The tax alone means you'd probably get most of what you paid for it back, when it expires.

The 2l petrol had a sludge problem that was fixed from 2004. The 2005 one should be post-fix but I'd make sure to check. Apart from that a SAAB 9-5 should be fairly reliable for a car that costs about €100 after you subtract nearly a years tax from the price. Obviously for something of that age and condition things can go wrong or may need replacement so assess the condition as much as the general reliability of the model.

Honestly, not especially. They’ve gotten cult status though.

The essentials on saabs are pretty stout. It's generally niggley issues that crop up. The likes of 07 and 08 ones are great value at the minute especially dame Edna 95s

Pricy for a 99 alright, but looks great
    What's with the UK plates?
I'm assuming it surely is priced with VRT paid up

Well, it cant have an nct if it's on UK plates.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,526 ✭✭✭✭elperello

    Lovely looking car.
It appears that they will NCT it when sold.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,074 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

Ad says it will come NCT so I presume it is (or will be) Irish

If money was no object and it was manual I'd definitely have it though

Well I'm of the frame of mind, that when I buy something, I'm going off with it. I'm not waiting to see if it'll get that NCT. I'd just go somewhere else and get something I can drive off with. That was the original intention for this thread...

Agreed, especially when buying on a bangernomics budget but I like posting the odd link to a very nice example of a typical bangernomics car, it makes for good discussion if nothing else

Yes I wouldn't fancy paying over the money and having to wait to see how the NCT goes.
On the other hand it's all about the car and if it's a good one maybe a refundable deposit on the condition she passes would do the job.

I would hazard a guess that it has an MOT til July 20, so is guaranteed an Nct cert.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,937 ✭✭✭SmartinMartin

I'm wrong, turns out the MOT expired in April. Strange they give July 20 so.

They will test it after vrt so July sounds just about right.

Not a great deal in fairness. Overpriced imo. It's an old Audi that is not old enough to be a classic and not modern enough to be worth 1850.

    Just my opinion.

I'm always a bit weary when I see those sort of ads where they have complete guarantee the car will pass.
Makes me think they just have someone ready to give it the stamp without actually doing anything.
