Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I've said it before many times: the best thing is for Johnson, Rees-Mogg and Farage to be in power now, where they will have to act like grown ups and make decisions which will destroy their current ideologically pure stance. The worst thing would be to have them sniping in the background with "I told you so" at every turn. We need somebody to discredit them, and there would be nobody better than themselves in power to do that.

    Joseph Nye, and many, many others, have written extensively about how bringing radical or "extreme" elements into power serves to deradicalise them and strip them of an ideological purity they could eternally claim in permanent opposition. Witness Paisley for decades here, doing precisely the same (in fact, more) in power that he condemned the UUP for doing over the course of decades. Likewise, Sinn Féin as the largest party in DCC could no longer blame everybody else for the problems in Dublin and people realised it and their vote went down.

    So, hopefully Boris/Jacob/Nigel will lead the next British English government.

    Consenting adults in the privicy of their own home, having a heated discussion is completely normal, myself and my other half have heated arguments occasionally and we are not under the huge pressure that those two are, thankfully there are no idiots outside recording in the hope of catching something that can be used against us.

    I have no affinity for Boris and the leave side, but I get a nice warm feeling seeing the disappointment in some people when pathetic attempts like this gain no traction and they jumping up and down like 3yr olds being ignored.

    I wouldn't call it "completely normal", it's not really normal at all it's poor behavior.

    But I agree you are entitled to your privacy, but then again you will not be running a country that has let's say has a challenge or 2 in the next few weeks and months.

    So no, Boris is entitled to nothing except to be exposed as the absolute charlatan he is.

    This self centered prick could do a lot of untold damage to a lot of people, including people in this country.

    Unfortunately I think the anti Boris side will need a lot more than a domestic argument to derail Boris.

    No secret that most of the neighbors are remainers (like most of London) and even have posters up saying "we have to suffer him as a neighbor, let's not make the country suffer the same" or something like that.

    It's an apartment in a converted Victorian building, even a whisper would probably be heard. So a heated argument where he is cockahoop about being leader and she being over tired (she's behind he new tidied up look) is really a non story.

    But will Boris surprise us on brexit?

    He will develop a distain for Arlene Foster and her motley crew. I reckon that he'll put the border down the Irish sea (acceptable to all except the dup) get it passed, complete brexit on Oct 31st and then go for an election in November and sweep in with a large majority.

    He's an impatient type. If the dup do not agree with him, he'll run them off. His advantage is that if he is leader and gets agreement on current deal with the Irish sea as the trade border, he will be a near certainty for a large majority in a new election. And the dup will know that.

    Foster will back out and dissolve the government.

    That will push an election before any deal can be made, that will bring remain back on the table as the major point of the election, something Boris will not want.

    I would still defend him on the grounds that she might have been armed or a terrorist and he clearly acted in self-defence. If he had killed a man, we wouldn't even be talking about it. It's only an issue because he killed a woman. Anyway, he had the decency to bury her. What more do you want?

    I'm not necessarily saying he was right to kill her, but he could clearly be heard asking her to get off his laptop. If she had got off his laptop, she'd still be alive.
