Pay back for the mild Winter.

Loving the cool nights, I never slept so well in June in years.

This year is very much like 2011. That winter was mild and the summer was cooler as well. That lasted for a year or two.

After a major snow event it seems our climate has a bit of a wobble and takes a year or 2 to recover. I think it was August or September before we got decent temperatures.

I have so scientific basis on this just an observation from what happen last time it happened.

Weather is dark cloudy and disastrous in Kildare this morning. Can it continue indefinitely like this ?.

There's definitely been a few summers like this imo. Was it 2015 which had little sun and a lot of rain?

Last year definitely spoilt us a bit.

Rainfall cumulative 34.3mm this month so far - quite a contrast to May which was mainly dry bar the last 3 days of the month.

Wet and cold. Even Comical Ali couldn’t dress this rubbish up. I mean FFS it’s 10 degrees and raining in the middle of June.

I don't want to be a drama queen but **** this for a game of soldiers, I refuse to grow old in this country......well full time anyway, my saving fund for a holiday home somewhere that gets a summer starts today- suggestions for locations gladly accepted! Perhaps the Canaries, I'd even consider Scandinavia- get proper winters and summers....decisions, decisions..........

Cloudy but dry in Clare, not often we get better weather than Leinster but there ya go. Still only early June lads, less of this 'summer is gone' or 'were paying for the mild winter' talk.

I'm not much up on my long term forecasting but some are optimistic about later on this month!

short to medium term is looking rather unsettled, but things will turn milder. Could be mid to end of July before we get out of this unsettled pattern, but we shall see. So far it looks unsettled right up to the end of the month, with perhaps a slightly dryer signal from about the 28th of June, but this drying trend keeps getting pushed back.

Thing turn milder alright, that can only mean though that the rain gets heavier and more intense ;-)

Please tell me mid to end July was a typo... You meant June right?

start of July doesn't look great, but that's well out in FI. MT is also hinting at mid July. At least it's getting milder from next week.

Drizzly with a very raw breeze in Dublin 5. I haven't felt this cold since the start of April.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,459 ✭✭✭pad199207

Haven’t had 20c here in over 2 weeks. Some places probably more.

temperatures here at Dunshaughlin have been shocking through most of Spring and now Summer.

highest daytime temperature so far this month is 19C and that was on the 1st of June, before the proper cold set in, Since then the temperatures have struggled to get much past 14C.

Temperatures here have only exceeded 19C three times since last September! that is absolutely shocking record, considering were mid way through June.

We reached 20C on Saturday 20th of April.
We reached 22C on Sunday 21st of April. (warmest day of the year so far).
We reached 21C on Thursday 30th of May.

those are the only 3 days we beat 19C so far this year at my location.

Been the worst May/June in memory so far since 1994.

Definitely the worst May/June I ever remember. I mean the last ' summer' day was at Easter. I know that summer isn't always brilliant but at this stage I would at least be able to wear a tshirt. Not one piece of summer clothing has come out of wardrobe yet. Imagine wearing cream/ white trousers in this weather!

Thankfully going away at end of July but wish it was the end of June!

Today is the first day it's genuinely felt cold. Jumper on indoors and seriously considering lighting the stove!

Today Ireland is the coldest country in Europe overall.

yep Iceland is beating us with a balmy 17C on the east coast of Iceland.

We're only 2 degrees warmer than lapland (the rest of Scandinavia is same as us or slightly warmer. Northern Scotland really only sticks out as the one area that is cooler than us. Temperatures are beginning to stage a slight recovery in France and Spain.
