And lovern missed a lot of time from January onwards

Do people genuinely not understand that this benefits us ?

Would love to see him leave this summer as it takes away all worries, I have, that he’ll ever be on the pitch for us again.

OK how about I say Liverpool where one draw away from winning the league, which is a factually statement ,

Ps how many points do you get for a draw ;)

Why are you going into the realm of make believe, sure you could change the results where City lost all there games while your at it.
The oringal postered stated Liverpool lost the league by one point but infact it was 2. Simple facts lads!

I could have swore Man City had 98 points and Liverpool 97 that is a one point difference unless my maths is bad

    Really ?

He's not half as bad as some like to make out ,

We lost one league game with him this season ,
Got to two Champions finals and he got to a world cup final in two season's, Seen as he is CB pretty important spot, he can't be that bad,

Also he is possibly our 4th choice CB now So could you name a better 4th choice CB in world football ?

I must be going mad but I thought City finished on 98 points and Liverpool on 97 points. 98-97=1. Simple fact lad

And who would have won the league if Liverpool got that extra point?

To be a pedant, technically we were 2 points away from being champions but it depends where those 2 points came from.

If we turned a drawn game in to a victory against United or West Ham then we would have won the league by a point.

Or if we turned our draw against City in to a win we would have won the league by 2 points.

If we had beaten city for example we would have finished on 100 points and they on 95.

The point of the original post though didn't seem to get taken in to account and the "facts" had to be corrected.

Bringing the "facts" in to it though, the 08/09 season we suffered too many draws and you could say similar in 18/19. United won the league that season losing more games than us and City did this year.

Give Liverpool 1 extra point, we still don't win the league, do you understand Goal Difference

I dont think its pedant at all. When you look at the table Liverpool needed 2 points to win the league. To say one is wrong simple as that.

You can't just decide the point comes from the only possible game in which it would have mattered, so Liverpool didn't lose the title by a point, the lost the title by not getting anything against City in the 2nd game, see the difference

Understand it perfectly but if we got that extra point against City then goal difference doesn't come into it

But as the table stands they lost by two, you could go into different scenarios where Liverpool would get the points from but as the table stands its 2 points.

Is this reminding anybody else of that Twitter exchange between two Arsenal fans about Jackson Martinez's age?

How many minutes Mahrez has played?

Liverpool finished 1 point behind City. Liverpool would have needed 2 extra points to win the league. Both statements are true....

Correct but they could have also won it with one extra point if that was taken form a draw away to City ,

    All correct everyone's a winner :D

It is pedantic when you focus on this instead of the context of the post.

And you could have at least gone back and thanked the post after I fixed it for you! :pac:

Keep that logical up and you'll have no mates.

    Thanks Pal!

It was the only issue I had with the post , now the post is spot on.

1 point + 6 goals wins the league. We didn't need 2 extra points.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,059 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

    Didn't have the goals though.

What do people think about signings this summer? I've seen a lot and listened to mates saying we don't really need new signings as Ox Keita etc will be like new signings for the upcoming season but i think that is BS. We need to kick on now and strengthen the squad. We were very lucky in a number of games this season in the league and we just do not have the squad that city have (maybe an impossible task i know) but we need to strengthen.

I'd love to get De ligt make a real statement but i'm not sure how realistic that is given the money being asked. We need a back up for Mane and also LB/RB understudies.
