Excellent post i think you will find the majority who criticized Henderson myself included criticized him in that DM/6 role and wanted to see him played further up the field.

I also stand behind not wanting him as captain on the pitch as i don’t think he is vocal enough on it.

Henderson also gives his best on the pitch despite not having the natural talent of others.

Not so concerned about Henderson being the captain on the pitch. I was when he wasn't in the starting 11 thinking it should go to VVD.

I think being further forward Henderson will start more possibly being replaced during the game by Ox from the bench to keep the energy in the game.

I think the squad have a lot of natural leaders now so it's not so important who is wearing the armband.

Example is the Newcastle game where VVD instructed the change in free kick taker.

Same with TAA. Watched an interview with him yesterday about his corner against Barca. Said he was about to leave it to Shaq as they agreed to mix things up and as he had taken the previous corner was going to leave it until the ball came quickly to him and he say Origi in the box on his own with no one from Barca tuned it.

Took the responsibility himself to make something happen. That's the great thing with this squad now. They're all brave to step up and take decisions.

Trent is having a great game, best player on the pitch IMO.

Tyler just dropped a stat there. Of the 9 England chances Trent has created 6.

If Trent was playing with VVD he'd have had about three assists.

Do folk really think klopp needed Henderson to have a word for him to realise hendo wasn't happy at #6?
Klopp publicly stated it wasn't Henderson's position but that he'd learn it and do a job there. And hendo did a job there to his credit.
Once klopps purchased #6 was settled in the team klopp essentially had Henderson as an extra midfield option.

Henderson said he went to Klopp and asked to be played further forward.

Maybe it's Klopp's fault as he put him in that position for so long forgot to "unthink" of him in that position and move him forward.

I know Henderson said that but I doubt klopp needed to be told. With shaq being whatever he was since Christmas and fabinho settled in opportunity / necessity presented itself IMO.

Folk in here had written off Hendo for advanced roles as they reckoned he hadn't the legs for it anymore. .... Iirc.

I'd forgotten those pics. It's funny, but either Robertson, the ball, or both looked photoshopped in the last one...

I keep having this nagging feeling that the players will now see the CL win as a sort of destination and 'peak' feeling of their careers. They have won the biggest trophy they can win. One of the players said a line in one of the interviews last week about it being the best moment possible in a career or something along those lines.

But then I remember who our manager is and know that that should not be the case and they should be hungry enough to win another major trophy again next season. We have to aim to win the PL again next season.

nearly every interview each player has mentioned winning the league next season.

If you think the players wont be motivated next season you have not been paying too much attention.

I think the players are really gutted and frustrated at losing the league by two points.

Nobody wants to leave. Shaq said next season it's the league so he seems to be happy with his game time.

Lallana said he's definitely staying even though there are only 12 months left on his contract.

Origi said he hopes for positive talks between Liverpool and his representatives so he won't be pushing for a summer move. For a guy who started 6 games all season he made some impact!

Sturridge and Moreno are gone but the remaining squad are young and hungry. Nobody will be resting on the laurels of the CL win next season.

Keep this squad as a baseline and add more top quality players and we go in to next season with a squad stronger than when we finished this season.

We need decent cover at full backs and another attacking option.

Mignolet is 31 so he's at a time where he needs to decide does he leave for first team football or stay to be a good quality reserve keeper.

He won't be getting ahead of Allison but equally he won't be getting ahead of Courtois in the Belgian team so he can't use first team football as an excuse to get in to the national team.

He was very professional this season and always supported Allison in social media. I'd be happy to keep him as a reserve.

I'd be more worried about injuries than motivation. City got 98 points and absorbed a lot of injuries, whereas Liverpool didn't really have any major absences for the year.

Carra was on the Redmen podcast and said he'd take 90 points for next year if he was offered it. He said the two games against city are vital - basically cup finals.

I'd love one or two quality attacking backups to cover for injuries and to have a plan b for games like leicester, west ham etc. I don't think Shaq/Origi/Brewster are enough.

It was the January / February time when we lost Trent and Gomez and had Milner or Henderson in there at right back. That really hurt us as we had tor readjust the team and didn't play so fluently against Leicester and West Ham.

A lot is down to City; they have to have a below par season for anyone to win the league. Their Champions League run ending when it did didn't help as Spurs were the only difficult games they had apart from Lyon. Hoffenheim, Shaktar & Schalke by CL standards are rubbish.
In a way the run of Schalke, Spurs & Ajax would be a handier run than most winners ever get.

Liverpool needed 2 points to win the league.

    Technically they needed one,

A draw against City would have given us 1 point and taken 2 points off them which would have been enough,

That's how close we came ,

No as it stood Liverpool needed 2 points to win the league, you can change results that Liverpool win the league ,but it finished up Liverpool need 2.

Ox-Cham, Gomez, Keita who would be considered "core" squad players spent significant minutes away from the pitch. Plus TAA had a spell out, while rotation players Shaqiri, Lallana also out.

Apologies, the players must have been gutted by finishing a point behind the champions.

OK how about I say Liverpool where one draw away from winning the league, which is a factually statement ,

Ps how many points do you get for a draw ;)

Or just change your original quote to 2 points, which is the correct statement.
