Was reading about Lee Boylan today and it says he suffered life changing injuries - does anyone know what condition he was left in?

Regardless of what these guys get up to, its sad to think there are young men being left maimed, disfigured (Greg Lynch), disabled (Owen McGuire) all over stupid mistakes!

Not that I subscribe to the whole “let them wipe each other out” theory but the life these lads chose can hardly be dismissed as stupid mistakes.

It is sad but I'd say he would have had no problems dishing it out himself. What's sad is it's an endless cycle.

His condition really isn't that awful compared to what has been written in the Sun etc, feeding tube through nose and still awaiting surgery to remove fragments from his chest, should make a full recovery anyway

Most drug busts seem to be in houses, warehouses, cars.
Not too many in the port or from yachts and boats.
Or do the police track it from the port until it's in someone's property to increase chance of conviction?

Most stuff comes in by port. They have front companies setup such as florists, fruit and veg,construction,furniture etc. they pay off lads at customs to turn a blind eye

On a floor of 50 there's obviously a half dozen or so, but this idea that cocaine is the lifeblood of the movers and shakers of Ireland seems anathema to these people.

Would you agree? Certainly in my raving days I found you never ran into many of the Fintans and Fiachras in the Vaults, Tivoli, Red Box etc, a good few heads from Castleknock but then a lot of them palled round with Blanch. This was in stark contrast to raving in England and Australia, all classes present, all loved up on yokes.

I'd imagine that the D4 media set is awash with sniff and yokes given DJ's and music journalists being part of the scene, but frankly I just can't see it in Dublin among the finance types!

In a bizarre case of life imitating art, a while back that FB comedian Fabu D had a skit (which for some reason reappeared on my feed today) where he's going around Blanch and ends up getting kidnapped by a gang of boyos in Corduff.

One of the "actors" kidnapping him is a certain ugly ginger cat with 9 lives who has used up at least two of them in recent weeks.

How do they manage to coordinate shipping schedules with the rotas of the staff they've paid off? WOuldn't they need to pay off a full shift of Customs to get something through?

I'll give an example.

Few weeks ago, finished on site for weekend, 12 of us in pub, 3 lads chip in to get a bag delivered. I wasn't arsed myself, I've never been big into it, although as I get older I find I cant drink for 18 plus hours like I could in my youth so on long sessions like weddings etc a quick bump is quite the refresher.

The thought of my mate, at after work drinks, asking a table of bank staff if they want to get sniff delivered, it would probably have him up on a disciplinary. They would be absolutely aghast for the most part. The women especially. The big four Irish banks aren't exactly the wolf of wall street.

In some ways I wonder if it's money related. Students are a frugal bunch. They make do with their noodles, the eurosaver in mackers, going to ****e nightclubs during the week because the drink is cheap, all their gear from Penneys, I do wonder if this frugality carries over into their adult lives.

This varies for bank to bank id say...i know the cousin works in 1 of em,and he was wired last time i seen him out down here

Maybe they dont do.it with work crowd...but unlikely a group of u30s are meeting up and socialising without some doing it regularly

I used to sell a load of coke you’d be surprised whose taking it from 5th years to business owners. Once you hit 2nd year in uni people will only take coke no other drug does it they loose interest in the less harmful stuff like ecstasy

I find it very hard to believe that just 3 percent of young people have used cocaine on as little as a single occasion in the past year. That would mean 97 percent find the idea abhorrent.

The past 7 days would be higher than that IMO.

Is there any reliable figures on how many people use cannabis on a daily basis? How many kilos of coke and how many pills it takes to keep Ireland going on a yearly basis?

I don't mean to generalise, but there's a lot of very staid, boring people in university. People who watch every penny.

There's a reason that most of these people earn less than tradesmen but can buy a house in Raheny by the time they're 30, while Darndale is full of work vans in every other driveway. Not to mention so many would be concerned about the effet a drugs conviction could have on their prospects.

Tbf a similar tactic.gave them.the advantage over dissidents for years

Theyd arrest/harass some and not others...this gave rise to paranoia and distrust...hence why so many micro groups and splits for years....lads just didnt trust 1 and other!
