Hopefully he doesn't get elected, he seems to be an idiot that got a bit popular because he called out something as it is nothing more. Isn't worth electing headbangers to these thing's they end up screwing people over because they're too stupid and incompetent to do the job in the end.

    Who would you vote for?

Peter Casey, the former presidential election candidate, has called for “freeloaders” in Ireland’s direct provision system to be “put back on the plane” and urged the government not to “dilute” Brand Ireland by “inviting . . . people who just want to take advantage of our generosity, and our good nature”.

Finially somebody admits it, people sponging of the taxpayer for 7 years or more in DP.

I think I win the prize!
Still betting on him coming out with some controversial remark about immigration and the great unleashed taking to the Tweet machine again.

I'm not sure what his policies are but he has the right opinion about travellers and Johnny foreigner. Hell get my vote.

So you don't know what he stands for but you're committing your vote to him. What an asset to society you are

The vast majority of votes ever cast are in that manner.

He'll get an awful lot of votes as well because those most against him tend to be the types from the modern Priest class.

Many will look at it being a positive to be disliked by them.

You obviously don't understand rural Ireland, there are loads if people who will vote like this.
If you stand on a platform of being against travellers getting everything, foreign Dole spongers, social housing and then you are for bog cutting and more hospital beds you are doing it right to get elected.

Most of the constituency is not rural.

This seems to suggest you support him or that most of the country is this made-up class. He's really an empty suit, a rich man who's bored with retirement and fancies himself as a politician.

I suppose you're intimately familiar with every candidate you've ever voted for then.

I identify with Peter Casey. He's not afraid to tell the truth. That's all I need to know about him. The polical classes are terrified of him because he calls it as it is.

You may also need to know that he tried to join Fianna Fail.

What difference does that make? Everyone can do something stupid once in a while.

Not my vote, and I don't know how you could come up with this.

Its true, you vote for people who best represent your views however you will disagree with aspects of party/people policy.

I don't believe FG planned to give travellers ethnic status. Had political parties been honest about this for GE16 votes would be different. FG accepting thousands of economic migrants wasn't part of there manifesto.

You may also need to know that he tried to join Fianna Fail.

Having previously been associated with the SDLP (FF's new partners)

What's with this imagined fear nonsense? They'll deal with him as needed. The only ones possibly under threat are Ming and Carthy. I think that threat is minimal but he's an irritant they still have to keep an eye on.

Since he's in my constituency, I'll start paying attention now. That's not a policy, it's a rant. How about he looks at the mechanism whereby it takes years to decide on refugee status and show us his ideas on that? Or would that just be admitting it's a little more complicated than "inviting freeloaders"?

People who talk about Casey ‘telling the truth’...

What’s he going to do about it? It’s all well and good having someone who represents your views but with no actual policy to tackle it what’s the point?

He’s an absolute chancer. He was throwing **** at a wall and hoping something would stick.

Nah, that's what real politicians do. It's not even an EU Parliament remit anyway.

Hell do more than the current crop of useless ****ers in Brussels. Hopefully he uses his platform to solve rural burglaries and ends direct provision. There are 4 people of voting age in my house. All voting casey no. 1

Which politician have you voted for who has provided in-depth knowledge on things?

Strasbourg not Brussels. And they don't solve any of this. I'd abstain and save those 4 votes for the GE because we know he'll be back again for that.

What will he do? What are his policies to tackle travellers and Johnny Foreigners?

I can tell you with 100% guarantee that he will do f*ck all, but he’ll keep himself popular by ‘telling the truth’.

How can he tackle rural burglaries and direct provision in Europe? You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Those laws are made here.

You’re voting for him because underneath it all, you don’t like foreigners or travellers. You know deep down he’ll do nothing about it but you’ll vote for him anyway.

It's ok they'll get to vote in the GE aswell. There's no quota on usage of your vote.

What has he done about it since 'telling the truth'. He refuses to talk about it now in interview...that is what he has done! :)

Most of them, even people I haven't voted for. They are called professional politicians for a reason. It's really not that hard to inform yourself on any topic. He just doesn't bother and trots out attention-grabbing but empty soundbytes.

Well I ensure I am familiar with the policies that they are espousing you have admitted you don't know what he stands for beyond populace ****e that appears in the papers.

What truth does he tell? The guy doesn't even appear to be paying taxes in this country. All I see is a rich guy who will do fVck all to alleviate the problems of this state and the gimps who will enable him to get into a position where he can only cause more damage.

As for direct provision yes something needs to be done about the length that people are held in it in this state. There should be enough resources in place to hasten decisions and either deport those who don't have a case or let those who do start their new lives in this country and contribute to it. I see nothing from this guy bar soundbites and absolutely nothing of substance on real solutions to real problems.
