I am 28 and I have 78k in my current account.

I rent and have a salary of 45k for the last 12 months and my account has increased by 24k in the last 12 months.

How am I doing? Is it common to have this much saved when on this salary?

I would bet your actually 20/21 looking at your username....

I get give or take, it works out at about with expenses 140,000 a year and I pay 30.3% tax on that, so it’s about a net 100,000 and out of that 100,000 I run a home in Dublin, Castlebar and Brussels. I wanna tell you something, try it sometime…

Think you've mentioned the latter part of that a few times already - maybe you should cut one loose.

I own my home, salary in excess of yours. Healthy bank account. So in comparison to me you're not doing that, great whereas to others better. Hope that helps your sense of self worth. ;-)

My wealth has taken somewhat of a hammering very recently - I put the bulk of it (€2.50) in a box in work in exchange for a packet of crisps and a yorkie.

I might go back and take it back if no one's watching. It's a victimless crime..... we'll unless you count the kids in the hospice that is I suppose.

I am 23. I have €15,211.34 in my bank account.

Luckily I live with my parents in a social housing so I pay very low rent. Saving €1000 per month (earning €32,600 gross per year). Wish I could increase my earning capability so I can save faster and buy a house but it doesn't look too good.

You are not really rich if you can count your money. My mathematical ability is poor, so my accumulated wealth is beyond counting.
But I lead a simple and frugal lifestyle, no ostentatious display of wealth ,no premier league footballer bizarre haircuts and no tattoos.
To be as rich as Croesus is to be modest and humble.
My greatest joy is to give to needy causes and see the happiness generated by a small donation to a person in financial distress.

OP registered yesterday, therefore my answer is moot.

I find it hard to believe that a 28-year-old who lives and rents in Dublin who has just gotten a 50% or so uplift in the past year has 78K to their name - especially with 1998 in their username (lol). It would be different if you were a senior software engineer earning 65 - 70K a year but it just doesn't add up.

Unless you invested in Bitcoin/Crypto in its infancy, or you've rich as **** parents, you would have to have been saving every penny since you were 18. It just doesn't sit right with me and I think OP is an attention seeker.

Maybe the girls spend money on him. But a small bit of advice to the OP - get yourself an investment banker for your next sugar mama. Don't charge her - just ask her for financial advice.

A 28 year old with 70k plus In your account and a decent salary and your renting. You're not the most intelligent.

I've a decent bank account, my own home, my own business x4 and a ****ing rake of negative equity. But I'm very happy and my family are healthy.

Hmm, I have an account with 1998 in it 'cos that's when I registered it.:D

    Happy days!

OP gave his salary and his current account balance. He did not say who else might be lodging in to his account, gift, inheritance, etc. Keeping that amount in his current account indicates he's not exactly financially astute

Call bull**** on this. How could it increase 24k in 12 months what did you spend anything at all?

I can show you my bank statements if you want?

I have €40 in my wallet after buying some Dipetane and a litre of Castrol full-synth oil meeting Ford's WSS-M2C913-C spec for variable-boost turbodiesels. There's some coins in my pocket too but I couldn't be bothered my hole counting. I'm going for a couple of cold beers after work. Huzzah! What was the question again? Oh yes, I have a gold-plated mickey. I bought it last Christmas 12 months in Estonia.

I have 5 acorn stamps on my Cyril the Squirrel savings card, but I try to keep it to myself as I don't want to become a target for the criminal elements that permeate our great society.

Thats really bad . Most people have far more than that . Time to step up a bit and save more .

Or just maybe time to stop bull .

You'd be smarter if you had 3k in your current account and 75k invested in the markets. Your money is sitting there losing value.

Yeah I know. Unfortunately markets only entered my mind less than a year ago and I have decided they are too risky to enter at the minute.

  • Site Banned Posts: 73 ✭✭Jimmy_oc1998

Bullsh1t and desperately pathetic to feel the need to come on and declare this even if true, which it isn't.

It is true, but anyways I asked a question.

I know that if I simply asked how much money people have then they are just going to ask me back. Give me a few minutes while I get a copy of statements and remove the identifiable info.

Yeah, it is awful. I'm only 12 and already have 200k in my current account. I won't bore you with all the comma's it would take to list what's in my savings account.
