Probably the same as any other company and what would be the norm.....ring or drop into your bank and ask for a bridging loan or to have your overdraft adapted to meet your needs.

They wouldn’t have been able to pay his credit card bill.

    Or his rent.

So he spent €500 on two visits to the dry cleaners, more again on buying clothes for himself, and was even putting takeaway food and petrol on the association credit card? What a ****ing joke.

Some of which was spent in his very good friend Michael Healy-Rae's garage in Kilgarvan.

We need to know the details but the FAI won't tell anyone

how much time would that take?

    ...

Is the problem here that Delaney just had too much money...

For a company with an overdraft of approx. 1.5 million it wouldnt have taken too long. The bank would know what money to expect coming in....

    Only problem may have been:
    1. FAI had problems with the tax man
    2. The 23-24 accounts were close to empty and the bank knew monies could be called in
    3. Debts were not being met with the bank...

I know my own company can get overdrafts within hours.....

Alternatively a call to Sports Ireland and money would have been there within 48 hours.

JD having too much money, he obviuosly does have it.......I would tend to think he suspected or had been tipped off that he was about to be exposed. Quickly pop 100K into the account and if all goes well expenses, credit cards etc. are forgotten about. If not try and play the I rescued the FAI with my own money.......

Unfortunately there is people like John Delaney in every major organisation, they might not be as substantial as €100k but these guys exist everywhere. When it's not your own money involved and your spending someone else's, tighter control needs to be applied.

That was a very clear and logical explanation of the 100k if you ask me.

Probabaly better to rabble rabble corruption bad bad jd bad tho.

It there was a very clear and logical explaination of the 100k,why was there an injuction sought and why did the FAI lie about the loan in their statement ?
    Statment of March 17th
“As CEO, I hold regular meetings with our Director of Finance regarding the state of our finances and all items arising are conveyed to our board at our monthly meetings.

    LIAR.
    Oireachtas Committee April 10th
JOhn Delaney:He said in the statement that three people were aware of it: the director of finance; the honorary secretary and the then president.“On March 4 I informed the board of the FAI of the precautionary payment I made following a media query received from the Sunday Times.”

He tell's the rest of the board 2 years later when he is caught by the bollix.

Indo has brought in the Johnny Giles foundation into the mix

I wonder is this why dunphy is in the JD camp

Poor aul eamo and Johnny might be embroiled in this yet

Dunphy usually jumps on every bandwagon that passes by so I am very curious about him defending JD.

There’s more to this than him being loyal to a fella who invited him to his birthday shindig I suspect.

what would the FAI had done if Delaney didn't give him them the loan?

If Delaney was on 250k per annum and not €400k and God knows how much expenses, over a 10 year period thats €1.5m, good leadership would have wiped out the bank overdraft, but that's assuming he cared about The FAI, a fcking huge assumption.
GOOD FCKING RIDDANCE you parasite, apple didnt fall far ftom the tree Joe.
Answer that CHANCER, and you would still have your fcking astroturf, !

if Delaney was treating FAI money as his own money it would make sense for him to use his money for the FAI, both are a problem

As more and more details come to light. a truly independent forensic audit is required to actually see how bad mismanagement is in the fai

They’re both reasonably close to Delaney. Delaney was in touch with Giles about the managers’ job when O’Neill went and I’ve been at fundraisers where Delaney and Dunphy have been present. It’s an open secret that Delaney courted them when he realised their influence.

Both have been fairly sheepish about the whole thing. Particularly Dunphy who has a history of histrionics around this sort of thing. I hope they both have nothing to hide.

so how is Bray sorting out its finance a local business man dumping his money into it?

I remember this story around the time of the Dundalk-City game which he attended. First he was the FAI's strategist, then he never worked for the FAI at all. Bizarre stuff.

They were selling themselves for 2+ million per game. No big secret in Europe.
Add to that that JD was mixing with FIFA heads....he got what he wanted.;);)

So basically when all this bollixology was going on bray were being dragged through the mud due to their own mismanagement and being unable to pay their players but it was all being compounded by having to wait on money they were owed by the FAI. Shame on the FAI treating players the way they have.

Maybe now people understand partly why the PFAI are frozen out in Abbotstown and why there were court cases etc. threatened. They were the ones who were putting the screw on in the background and were a risk to JDs regime.

Told things changed big time when Dundalks former owners said the club would be selling to Peak6....JD knew he was out of his dept. and couldnt bully them. 50 million Paddy gangster against 6 billion US investment group....who would pay the better lawyers?? All of a sudden LOI/Dundalk players in MON squads, money paid directly on request, fines reduced strangely and since they took over there has been no messing.

Weird. You'll have to show me where i said that. Or maybe youre making things up?

What i remember saying i didnt understand was the phrase "governance is implimented" ... which means diddly squat

I wonder if that's why they got a Premier licence this year by the "independent" licensing committee.

"If someone comes in and runs a transparent, clean association, increases revenue, marketing, governance is implimented and supports football in Ireland why shouldnt they earn their money

Some would argue delaney successfully managed to do every one of these things.

I dont know what governance is implimented means tho"

That's what you said, you don't know what Governance implemented means, it happens to be ths nub of the problem with the FAI, yet you've whole heartedly supported Delaney, mr FAI, who has milked the FAI for the last 15 years, as stated by me previously had he been on 250k per annum up with top European counterparts, the savings would have resulted in clearing the 1.5m overdraft and possibly have money in the operational bank account, and wouldn't have to lend the FAI money.
Anyways looks like your hero will he zero soon, fingers crossed. Good Riddance.
