Aodhan O'Riordan made an absolute show of himself with his 'any discussion of immigration is racist' line.
It would be a sad day if this loon ever got near power again. Thankfully he's restricted to the Seanad (that he campaigned to abolish) for now.

I think O'Riordan checked dictionary definition of virtue signaling and decided to live by it hoping to get re-elected to the Dail. In combination with objections to every building project in his constituency he is probably the most hypocritical politician in Ireland. (And for the record I don't think immigration is overly an issue in Ireland but then I would think that).

Im not mad about Ciara but she was the only sane voice in the media at the time of the cervical cancer hysteria and she wrote a very good piece in the Sunday Independent about the fine expensive mess that has been made about this screening in Ireland.

His attitude was disgusting though I'm glad it was aired as it served as a reminder to never vote for this bourgeois Labor party.

He comes across as the epitome of the stereotypical smug middle-class champagne socialist.

He's a great lad to make sweeping generalisations and read the headline only outrage on Twitter, but less willing to own up to his mistakes when they're pointed out to him.

My point on all these bleeding hearts (and this lad is the absolute worst of them) is that if they are not mature enough to acknowledge the impact of immigration on public services, then don't ever come back to me and tell me about how bad the Education, Health, Welfare systems are in this country.

25% of people on the housing list in Dublin are non nationals, so immigration does have a massive direct impact on the availability of social housing whether Aodhan likes it or not.

He's not as brave on Twitter any more though.

That gave me a real laugh.

He's a primary school teacher by profession, who lives in North Dublin.

Hardly a champagne socialist, in fairness.

Principal. His wife seems to be very successful too. I don't think he is champagne socialist and he genuinely seems to care about school services in disadvantaged areas.

But at the moment he is almost inventing issues just to get himself elected to dail. And it's mostly fluff like Varadkar's letters to Kylie and this spat with Tobin (who will be forgotten after next election).

And 20% of Dublin wasn't born in Ireland so it's relatively proportional. If you want to get rid of immigrants to improve the housing list you will also impact employment in building sector and reduce the output. And then you will have about the same amount of people on housing list only there will be more Irish.

I think immigration should be discussed but that doesn't mean any argument is of equal value.

I see today is the final day of the 100 Days of Walking campaign.

Say what you like about the show, but that has to be one of the most positive campaigns I've observed on radio in recent times - encouraging people to get a bit more active and to improve their physical, and perhaps mental, health.

Anything that gets people up and about is an absolute positive in my book. The power of constant movement is so underestimated.

Loneliness, especially in rural Ireland is a silent killer.

You absolutely can't stand women, can you?

Talking about a positive campaign and you just can't help but have a pop at Ciara.

I've seen multiple posts of yours, and it's all the same. You wouldn't be happy unless women were in the kitchen making sandwiches.

I hope Cuara Kelly continues with the crusade about insurance payouts. At least someone is talking about something that is killing small business because of payouts to people who often never worked or contributed to the society.

Come on Ciara can you not do the most basic of research before spending a show hosting a phone in about a topic.

I thought it was common knowledge that everyone had to take 12 lessons before applying for a driving test.
