Hi all, looking for a bit of advise. Currently have Sky + in 3 rooms of the house. Interested in sky q but genuinely worried about the mini box and how it might perform reliably given that it’s not wired to the dish. One bedroom in particular in the house is like a WiFi dead spot, have tried countless times using airport extremes and powerline adaptors but haven’t been able to crack it yet. Virgins hub 3 seems to crash and seize up ever time I try to put it in modem mode so I can use my 2 airports as routers. But basically I get shouted at when the internet isn’t performing well in that room I don’t think it would go down too well if the tv wasn’t working either.

Any advise, tips or similar experiences would be appreciated. Is sky q out of the question until I crack the WiFi dead spot?

Wait until the new Sky hub launches with FTTH, switch (if available) and let Sky sort it out, you'll be paying €180 install so just make sure you're there and don't let the installer go until it's all working. Wifi is a nightmare in my house, a couple of boosters sorted it.

There seems to be a deal for Sky Fibre & TV (including Q) for €50 a month for 12 months ... not sure if it is available for existing TV subscribers?

When I click check availability it gives you the option of Sky chat ... which doesn't reply :(

Any way of "linking" Netflix with sky q without combining the payments? I have the app installed and have logged in but Netflix programmes do not show on the Q homescreen. Not a big deal either way but just wondering can it be done

They advertised recently about having Netflix with sky q don't know what the terms and conditions will be.

    two ways to access it

    1) if you have an existing netflix account, login into the netflix app on the Q box

    2) sign up to Ultimate on Demand and it you get a Netflix section in there.

I'm using a friends account so use option 1 which means i dont pay

Got Sky Q in three weeks back. Box is done already and no fixing it. 10 days before Sky can send out an engineer. Very frustrating.

Just discovered this earlier. Old location for scheduled was more convenient.

‘Scheduled’ is back in its old position for me (since earlier today). It’s back in the first set of options after you press ‘Recordings’.

I have a slight odd issue, whenever I look at Netflix and change back to the "live" channels all I get is a blank screen in preview and when I go directly to a channel. The only fix is to power the unit off and back on again.

Anybody else have this issue ?

Installed Sky Q box today and linked my Netflix with Sky Q. (Big mistake) I have very good wi fi and hard line internet and when I attempted to open the Netflix app it failed to do so. Then the screen would go blank and the only way to get the box back was a hard reboot. Also noted a lot of heat generated from the top of the box. Sky technical services were very good (they rang me back) and will further contact me tomorrow. I have decided to get rid of the Q box and go back to my standard box. Will keep you informed.

Just on this I have had sky q linked to Netflix for a while and no issues. I’m using wired on the sky q box with the wireless off in case it matters.

You need to turn the WiFi off in the settings. I think you might have to go to the installers settings to do it but can't remember.

Just realised I can't as I've a mini and I'm guessing it needs the WiFi

Latest on the Netflix is that the Netflix app has gone from the Apps screen and also On Demand.System, goes into standby for no reason in the middle of watching something. It wont restart and have to do a plug out plug in restart.
Sky ringing back today at 1.30pm for cancellation as requested. All in all an appalling system.

Do you have the new plug with a breaker/box on it?

Get them to put in one with a block on it, they are the new boxes and MIGHT be less crap, then if not then you can tell them to take it out as you have tried it all

If you have a mini then both the mini and the sky q box will need to be wired in.
