My reaction at reading this "they're taking McFadden too...??!?!?"

'Matt Faddes' not 'McFadden'..... though maybe the scout didnt realise MacFarland spoke with a lisp ???

    edit: biggus dickus ........ ;)

Article with Rory Best on the42, Stockdale asked him could he speak in the changing room after the match, and said something along the lines of what he posted on Instagram.

Seems to have been beating himself up fairly badly over it, hopefully it's something he can move past and not dwell on too much.

Own it and then move on. Reckon he will score a few tries this weekend.

    Effective immediately?

Rumour going is that he believes there's too many Leinster players up there that he feels he might as well be playing for the proper Leinster team, instead of now without the benefits of their trophies.

Great servant to Ulster, a very good player, personally I'd loved to have seen him stay on for another year at least as he is still good for it, but at the end of the day it's a personal decision and fair play to him.

He is excellent on Saturday and hopefully he finishes the season strongly.

Good career in media could await. He's been good value on the Rugby Pod etc to date

I wonder how the 2015 RWC quarter would have gone if the centre combo was 12. Fitzgerald, 13. Cave rather than 12. Henshaw, 13. Earls. The former pairing would have been far sounder defensively, I would wager.

It wouldn't have mattered really. Argentina were scoring tries for fun on the outside.

I would imagine that was one of the factors, he's done quite well on the media side of things to date.

    League question

If we finish 2nd in our conference who would we face in playoff's?

We'd be at home to the 3rd place team in Conference A. At the moment it would be Connacht.

As things stand the play offs would be

    Munster v Benetton
    Ulster v Connacht

    Leinster v Munster/Benetton
    Glasgow v Ulster/Connacht

    Leinster/Munster/Benetton v Glasgow/Ulster/Connacht

    Good team.

Good Glasgow team as well, though.

    Glasgow Warriors:

    15. Stuart Hogg
    14. Tommy Seymour
    13. Kyle Steyn
    12. Sam Johnson
    11. Niko Matawalu
    10. Adam Hastings
    9. Ali Price

    1. Oli Kebble
    2. Fraser Brown
    3. Zander Fagerson
    4. Rob Harley
    5. Jonny Gray
    6. Adam Ashe
    7. Chris Fusaro (captain)
    8. Matt Fagerson.

    Replacements:

    16. Grant Stewart
    17. Jamie Bhatti
    18. Siua Halanukonuka
    19. Scott Cummings
    20. Tevita Tameilau
    21. George Horne
    22. Pete Horne
    23. Robbie Nairn

As long as we at least get a bonus point, and keep chipping away at the top of the conference, I'll be happy.

Making myself nervous by looking at the remaining fixture list. We're four points ahead of Benetton who are likely to win against Zebre, and they also have a home game against Munster. In other years that would be a guaranteed loss, but they've been good this year and I'd expect them to pick up at least a bonus point.

Edinburgh are seven points behind and I would expect them to win at least two more games. They should have the Scarlets number and I think they will win one either against us or Glasgow.

Scarlets, who are nine points behind us, shouldn't be discounted. If they do pull off an upset against Edinburgh, then they will be very dangerous with their final two games being Zebre and the Dragons.

If we can win one game I would be very confident but it'll be a tough ask. Leinster will hopefully be resting a fair few players due to the European game just before, but I'm still not confident. And we have a real chance to land a blow on Edinburgh, but they've looked really good recently and they'll have home advantage. Exciting run in, but I wouldn't have said no to a slightly easier schedule.

In other news, Matt Faddes is starting on the wing tomorrow if anyone wants to have a look. Rumour on UAFC that he's basically signed, so he won't be playing much.

Too many permutations to make much of a prediction yet. We will have a better idea after Saturday. Two wins and we are pretty much there. I think they are more likely to come against Edinburgh and Leinster to be honest, so in my mind a win tomorrow would be a bonus.

Have to say that's a good team. McFarland seems to favour consistency and fields pretty much the same side every game (within reason and dependent on importance). This is a positive in my book as we are making combinations gel and the team seem more united.
Hopefully this will stand to us coming to the business end of the season.

Full A game against the Free Jacks. Not gonna lie, it doesn't make for fun viewing - it was a scrappy game and we never really got ourselves in any decent attacking shape.

    McCloskey concussed, following RTP.

Addison out for rest of the season, back surgery.
