people saying this tennis ball protest was idiotic and there were other ways. This has totally blown up and now cant be ignored because of this action! Something like this forced recognition. Its a joke that it had to come this far! Boycott the Gibraltar competitive match, tenth June, I can give you the result now, an Irish win. Boycott one match in droves and take control, stop paying delaneys salary, do Irish football a service! The like of that rat, need to be grabbed by the throat and strangled! Strangled of the only thing they give a **** about, YOUR money!

He will need to be pulled out kicked and screaming because he will bury his head in the sand and hope something big hits the news to take the heat off him and the FAI.

The man is a leech who has been gorging on the state for far too long.

I dont think this will go away, and I hope it doesnt, if there is just relentless focus on this , the FAI may have to do something OR the fans come together and simply take control...

I fear a boycott will be needed to get him out and I don't think enough fans would take part unfortunately.

put it this way, there were forty out thousand there last night. Start of a new campaign, with everything to play for, with a manger we all have a lot of time for and amazing memories with! Now if that disgrace wasnt there, I would reckon it would be a sell out or close to it, he must be costing them serious money already!

It just needs to be stepped up a level!

I hope delaney us replaced with somebody who

1 - gives money to the LOI despite the fact most fans couldn't name 5 players.

2 - TAKES LESS OF A SALARY!!!! even tho delaney donated his uefa salary to the fai...(hope new guy does that too AND TAKES LESS CASH .

    3 - Somehing about rent.

4 - fires nameless people who look like cronies.

    YEAH. THEN WE'LL BE CLASS.

Better than our u19s top of their group. Senior team top of their group. Loi teams having very good european runs lately.

    Better than that

Dont insult Dundalk FC, its former/current owners nor its fans. The FAI nor JD have anything to do with it. If anything the FAI should be ashamed of themselves for their treatment of any club playing in Europe, be it regarding fixtures or holding of UEFA monies.

JD has been on the gravy train long enough, its time for himself and his mates to make space in the FAI for people who care about Irish football and not their pockets or personal standing.

This is the case im arguing.

Nobody backs their argument up with any proper arguments.

Just .... get rid of him and his cronies milking things... witbout any proper examples (apart from renting a house....)

Edit - Its the same to me as those videos on youtibe of anti-trump rallys... they ask the people holdong banners why to get rid of trump. Most cant put any sort of argument together apart from TRUMP BAD. seems to be the exact same here.

5- accuse anyone who doesn’t think sacking the entire FAI board is an automatic solution as being a secret FAI agent

6- under no circumstances come up with an actual plan to improve Irish soccer beyond sacking Delaney/ sacking the board/ disbanding the FAI.

It’s a sorry mess, an absolute sorry mess of a discussion where it’s just constant point scoring and almost no productive solutions put forward.

It’s like the end of The Wire with football administrators instead of cops - maybe the FAI board will be ousted and then another bunch of wasters on the same salaries will come right after them.

    Couldn't agree more.

There ARE actual reasons that you could say warrant a change at the top. But 90% of posters here dont seem to be able to put together anything better than JOHN AND HIS CRONIES BAD

I'm surprised that Mick Wallace has been very quiet throughout all this but maybe I shouldn't be- would Wexford Youths have benefited from Delaneys grants? Im presuming so because normally Wallace is quite outspoken when it comes to corruption and chicanery

Chancer 3001 and Dotser....shouldnt you boys be working on preventing tennis balls getting into LOI grounds over the weekend???

Personally didnt agree with the tennis ball thing however it worked a treat, great publicity. German/Dortmund radio was talking about it today...calling JD Ireland Sepp Blatter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,480 ✭✭✭Chancer3001

Id have thrown tennis balls in protest at the standard of play at the last LOI game i was at.

Mamager had the team set up all wrong. 2 centre midfielders didnt wanna know about the ball either. Crunching tackle or nothing.

Protest worked, Delaney and the groupies loosley called the board are a worried lot, even sending a couple of keyboard warriors on to boards.ie to protest their innocence, brilliant :), but pissing against the wind , tick tock tick tock, clock is ticking down John

    Christ.

    One has to start somewhere.
If you think that keeping things as they are is the solution more the fool you.
No one is suggesting that sacking JD/The Board automaticilly improves Irish soccer overnight.

There's no way Dots blocked me. Delaney's staff would be dying to see what's been written about them.

I have been curious about this for years. Those friendlies made no sense on any level. Always knew there was something funny going on there and it will come out eventually.

John Delaney reduced his salary in 2011 and 2012 what if the reduction in 2011 was actually them starting to pay his rent?

I dunno, the whole reason why they created the new position for him was so he could continue working for UEFA. This means his entire football administration career depends on him weathering this storm and hanging on for dear life.

So if he goes the only way will be if he is dragged out kicking and screaming. But with the entire board fully paid up members of his fiefdom I can't see that happening. Now if we had another scandal emerge on top of this one then that could tip the balance. But all we've got so far is some politicians and former footballers calling for him to go. That will be water off a ducks back for someone as hard necked as Delaney. Clearly his strategy is to brazen it out because if he doesn't then he is finished with UEFA. And we all know that Denis o'Brien thinks John Delaney should be running FIFA so he still has a lot more to give  Corrupt bolloxes the pair of them.

If the protests remain and dont go away the FAI will have to react. JD going to UEFA is nothing more than further riding the Bisto gravy train. The new position has clearly 2 things going for it:
    1. JD gets paid by the FAI
    2. JD gets paid by UEFA

Former professionals, pundits, journalists, politicians and fans are all onto him.....pressure has to remain at a high. Dont give up lads...they will cave in.
