Same, killed my sub as i got back off holidays and had a backlog of console games to play and the thought of playing catchup was incredibly unappealing to me.

There is nothing exciting or sexy about the neck or azerite.any just aren't bothered as it's such a **** system .

In legion you had skins to unlock, you had the suramar area and all that went with it

Island expeditions are boring, the warfront is ok content for about 30 minutes once a month. 35 mins if you had the time taken to kill the world boss when it's up.

The big issues I have with allied races is the 1-110 grind for the nice armor, I have done lore master I don't particularly want to level again. I would consider it if we had a new class but we don't .

I also dont get locking Allied racers behind the last expansions rep. So stupid.

Also, the Azerite armour was a really bad idea, didnt like it when they announced it. Dont like it now.

I unsubbed a few weeks back. Really disappointing expansion and I don't plan on going back. I am getting some enjoyment casually playing legendary server on Lotro. It's free for me and it's the only mmo I will play unless they make one based on the Wheel of Time series of books.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,905 ✭✭✭Noxin

Turned it on at the weekend for the first time in 3-4 weeks. Killed g'huun in LFR to finish a quest line and logged off again. Very little interest right now.
That said... apparently my wish for Zandalari Paladin has come true so that might bring me back for another levelling experience. We'll see what 8.1 brings I guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,447 ✭✭✭Calhoun

I honestly am stumped, i don't think i have turned off wow so fast before. I am not playing at all right now, nor do i care.

Its like the handling of gear and rewarding has basically put me into a position where i don't care. From two perspectives, i don't care about gear upgrades and i dont care about cosmetics as its the same old crappy skins shared across the gear type.

In legion right now id be farming artifacts ect, the heart is a load of crap, so why bother.

And the absolute worst thing is that you could spend BFA playing a class and specialisation you really love and enjoy (like I did during WoD with Mistweaver Monk) and you could raid and gear that character up for the entire expansion. And then Blizzard will just decide to nuke it for the next expansion and re-work how the entire spec plays. And you might not like this sudden and unnecessary re-work of your class and spec, so you just give up on it.

The fact that that possibility of all your hard work being completely thrown out on the whim of some developer is balls.

I think it's pretty obvious the constant changes are to keep you coming back for more, and to keep playing - mass changes mean more re-rolls, more re-rolls mean more levelling and more levelling means more time which means more sub fee - or more in-game shop spending. I think this time though, Blizzard have pushed the player-base too far.

I honestly can't see myself coming back to things for future expansions. Sure I'd have to level my characters to 120 to even begin future content anyway. No thanks.

It's funny because I essentially stopped playing back during cata (probably around 2011) and have only recently gotten interested in playing again, I'd dipped my toes in a couple of times to play but nothing serious.

I've noticed obviously a lot of changes from playing back in those days, but one of the biggest ones is the lack of chat, at the moment I'm just fluting around with leveling up my characters but it really seems like a solo game at the moment.

I'm assuming Blizz have done something to either block or restrict world chat? I know in the past some of it could be annoying with people trying to sell crap but some of it was funny too, just seems odd not seeing it there.

I was a nelf resto druid back when I played, and had a lot more free time to raid / run dungeons back then, to be honest I'm not sure if it's worth forking out the €25 now on the BFA expac while it's on sale if I'm not going to see large parts of the game due to lack of raiding etc.

Currently, I'm still doing the stuff from pandaland, haven't even got to the part where the alternate universe or whatever kicks in.

Do you folks reckon it's worth sticking with it as a solo player for the content of the last few patches? I don't really get to play that often, usually just at weekends.

A lot of the instances are sharded but i dont think that effects chat.

I noticed when i was playing that there was 0 chat in areas and that people just werent interacting anymore, i remember back in legion people were chatting away and the community seemed alive. Now, now it felt very much like a solo game to me.

One of the main reasons i stopped playing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,902 ✭✭✭MagicIRL

The game has gone extremely single-player focused. It's a shame. If you really want to experience the content I'm sure you can do it all solo without any issue. More so if you play specific class/specs - like Beastmaster Hunter.

I still keep my ear to the ground on the latest happenings in WoW and despite a new patch (8.1.5) around the corner, I still can't bring myself to re-subscribe or even find a desire to play the expansion at all. Nothing seems exciting and the entire expansion seems to be an un-fun mess.

I do miss playing Battlegrounds with my friends but even then - I know if I came back for that, I'd still have nothing to work towards. Especially considering how stupidly restricted Rated Battlegrounds are to participate in. Mind blowing.

Its not even fun solo stuff anymore, the class design is terrible and the current systems in place are not fun to play. Allot of people i know who are doing allot of solo activity is down to achievement hunting rather than the newer content.

The only hope is 8.2 where they drop the original azerite system and replace it.

Replace it with what? Unfortunately it looks like its too engrained in this patch for it to be crowbarred out.

I havent been on in months and i dont see myself going back anytime soon.

Apparently the new system has all the rings unlocked by default. Below is from mmo champ, excuse the formatting I'm on a phone so won't be cleaning up .

As the team looks ahead, they want to significantly change how they are approaching the system.
This will be the last tier that you’ll have to unlock the powers on. Moving forward, they will probably be unlocked, giving you armor that presents choice.
The team will shift AP to the Heart itself, allowing you to make choices about permanent powers, potentially active abilities. More to share in the future!

Not really and it won't get better until 8.2, when they change how the neck piece works.

This was 160k i think. Figure why not, saves me paying anything and assuming my urge to play only lasts a few days, it works out well.

Yeah thought that gold for subs thing is old.

Is there any major shakeup in classes for 8.2? Like the Shaman being useful again?

To be honest I don't think so , I believe allot of the class mechanics team got **** canned during the week.

I'd say that'll be me then until the next expansion if at all, game has become too dumbed down over the past few years that any choice to be different in a class is gone.

I want to like and play the game, i love the lore but there isnt enough of it to keep me interested right now.

    I have started playing FF14.

I've tried to get into FF14 a few times, but can't get past the levelling. It just seems so slow, and i've no interest in the story. It's supposed to get really good during the expansions though (one of the better FF stories from what i've heard). And the end game is supposed to be excellent.

I like it one of the things that always out me off was that it was on rails compared to what wow used to be. The game has allot more complexity and depth than wow does now.

Not Tuesday, it's Tuesday US and Weds Europe.

Some nice things coming brawlers guild, a nice new Hunter only quest and the new miniraid open soon .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,405 ✭✭✭Lone Stone

Also currently their is a rep buff bonus till the update so you get like double the rep to help hit those cap's required.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,905 ✭✭✭Noxin

I had said I'd probably return when the Zandalari Paladins are available but I actually don't think I will. I've had zero draw towards the game at all this year.
I'll wait and see what people are saying about whatever number they're up to now on the patches. Will see in a month or so.
The Division will keep me occupied until then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,405 ✭✭✭Lone Stone

yea i subbed with gold, and the game is dead like i dont think i ever seen it so empty before. And i feel like they have added nothing at all since i left, i mean they added some raids but besides that the game just dead it's weird, the quest lines i read about were really short when i actually played them. Playing on and off since vanila and usually you always have some thing to do but it's just weird to see wow like this.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,213 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

I played a bit over the last few days, and the world definitely seems more dead then it has in a long while. Seems to have had a mass exodus in the last few months, which isn't surprising. They'll probably all come back for whatever the next expansion is though.

If they keep moving towards making the game more like a mobile game nobody will come back.

Classic will have people back in the summer. Including myself... at least for a while until we realise how much of a $hit show it was levelling unarmed skill in Scarlet Monastery was again :pac:

Running to dead mines i will never forget.

I think everyone just wants to recapture that feeling that we got when playing classic, without realising that classic was an absolute mess by today's standards. That feeling isn't coming back, as most of us are 15 years older now. I'll never forget that first deadmines visit...it was absolutely amazing walking through that door and seeing the ship. But that won't happen in Classic.

Most people will play it for a month or two, and then leave.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,447 ✭✭✭Calhoun

The only way I'd play classic seriously is if they linked the old achievements and transmog to your live account otherwise I couldn't be arsed.

I don't even like the look of the old toons now.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,213 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Can't wait to get to around lvl45 with my Ret Paladin, and then re-roll another class because of how awful it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,405 ✭✭✭Lone Stone

well i for one am enjoying my new druid even tho i have one already this is the first time i am enjoying boomkin because i dont like like a fat ass owl dude thing.
Havent done any of the new stuff on my main yet, think il just keep on going with my new druid.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,213 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

I'd love to level a Kul Tiran or Zandalari druid, but since i haven't been playing, it'd take me weeks to do the rep grind to unlock them, so **** that. Such an idiotic decision.

You can't roll the new classes unless you've certainly rep? That's outrageous.
Like I have for the last two xpacs, I'll resub for classic and will quit again after a month or two. I just don't have the time to dedicate to wow anymore.

Yeah, all the Allied Races are locked behind a rep grind. Zandalari and Kul Tiran are both locked behind an exalted rep grind, plus some story quests.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,447 ✭✭✭Calhoun

I wouldn't mind the rep grinds if you could unlock the race and just race change but the force 110 grind fir the gear is stupid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,447 ✭✭✭Calhoun

    RopeDrink wrote: »
So long as you unlock the race on one character, all other characters (if eligible) can be race-changed to that race. I've had Nightfallen, Mag'Har and now Zandalari and the only one I wanted heritage armor for were Mag'Har, so I levelled one of those up but didn't bother with Nightfallen - and certainly won't with Zandalari (all that gold is already a bit cliche when you originally intended to just be a ZandaPalla).

I've changed my Paladin, Warrior and Shaman to Zandalari (my War was exalted with them long ago), the other two haven't even done a sniff of the main campaigns or war campaigns, nevermind ground rep. You are only 'forced' to level to 110 as that race if you want their heritage armour, which makes sense. Furthermore, it is all Blizzards way of keeping people playing, but isn't too obnoxious to achieve. I did it for my Mag'Har Heritage Armor and race-changed one other at the time. I could change them all back to Nightfallen if I wanted.

I know how the system works quite well as i have race changed more times than my wallet would be happy with. I don't personally have a problem with either the rep requirements to unlock the toon or the level requirements for the gear. I do have a problem with both.

I have played this game long enough to have 2x every class in the game, i currently have 4 120's and at least 7 110's. So i just dont get why i should have to level a throwaway character to 110 just so i can get a set of armor.

The dwarves and the belfs had no such gating system bar exalted reputation with their cities. If i could farm reputation on my main for this i would have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,447 ✭✭✭Calhoun

Well not everyone is oldschool and hard core as you are :P, even back in the day during CS you always liked your niches.

My point however is the redundancy of it all because i just got the maghar armour and now i have a 3rd hunter that i do nothing with.

I am the type of player that mains one character, i have weapon and skins unlocked on my main you cannot get anymore.

The current system is flawed in that it doesn't cater for people who race change. I don't mind having a challenge in place to do it, like the mage tower ect. Locking it behind a 20-110 grind is the laziest way to do it.

I have quit the game after playing constantly since the US beta,The game feels dead and for me BFA utterly failed to keep me interested, end of an era
