What players stood out today? How did the full back line cope minus Prunty and Fives?

Barron motm for me. Moran v good too especially second half. Both bennetts impressed again. Thought full back line was ropey enough especially in first half. First goal was a poor goal to concede.

Bad weather and all today, but a disappointing attendance of 3300. Wait for all the wailing about tickets come May for the 11 thousand capacity venue.

In fairness the game was a bit of already a dead rubber, weather was ****e, many people got stung last week and there was another day out guaranteed next week. If ever there was going to be a small crowd...

Double header in Ennis next Sat if they win the coin toss according too the Clare forum

Praying for home advantage and Clare would not be disappointed cause they would get a game in Walsh Park. 2pm next Sat Walsh Park would set the day up nicely with the rugby after lol

ah the rugby, where everybody drinks 2 or 3 slow pints, sing a few songs and go home to a cup of hot chocolate. A bit too bland for my liking but whatever gets you excited

Blandness. Must be the Gaelic football you are refering two.

Waterford will bring them to dungarvan no way will they give Clare a game in Walsh park before the championship

I’d agree 100%, why give them a trial run at it before Munster Champ. I’d nearly rather play them in Ennis to avoid that.

Nah I just dont get the vibe from the rugby, the genuine cut and thrust that you get at GAA games. people just seem to be there for a laugh and a sing song and then back to discussing their property portfolios. But each to their own

A trial run? All of them Clare lads would have played in Walsh Pk before at some stage. I wouldn’t get too carried away about the place either. I’d take home advantage, try beat them there and get some upward Momentum ahead of championship. We’ve beaten no one yet this year bar a depleted Galway in a dead rubber game.

Yes and both Sixmilebridge and Ballyea came to Walsh Park in the last two years also.

    When’s the coin toss?

    When’s the coin toss?

    Next week.......!!

On another topic did anyone notice the Shane Bennett/Jamie Barron ‘side line’ technique during the game yesterday. The highlights program last night gave particular attention to this......Bennett gave the ball the slightest of touches and ran off with head down Barron came in and picked it up and had a free shot at target which he duly put over the bar....Will this become a regular thing now or will it remain a ‘one off’.....as all coaches/managers will from now on have their players too well aware of it....?

Isn’t it great to see the 2 Bennett brothers benefiting from an attack minded manager. Play to our strengths for a change.

Used to break my heart watching young Shane on his own, week in, week out running himself into the ground.

I saw that from the stand and was wondering how they got away with it, cute bit of play though. They'll probably change the rules on it before they get a chance to do it again.

Don't think you can change a rule unless it's voted in congress?

Did they not change the rule on penalties fairly swiftly after SoK charged out on the Horgan one years ago?

The penalty rule was changed under the player safety mandate, which supercedes normal procedures. At the time it was a temporary rule change and had to be ratified at the next Congress. There's nothing they can do about the sideline rule until next Congress, but I wonder why would they even want to?

Very nice pity it clashes with the rugby but what can ya do

Hopefully we’ll get a good home support and make some noise. Walsh Park needs to become a fortress. Clare supporters came in huge numbers when their clubs played Ballygunner and it was more like a home game for them if you judged by the noise they made.

I can envisage a lot of pearl-clutching about the Fabled Art Of The Sideline Cut. First demonstrated by Cúchulainn when he used it to kill a thousand bibes who were threatening Emain Macha, so it was. Waterford destroying the game. Again.

Getting back to yesterday's game. It was indeed a game of two halves so we can put a lot down to the weather. Some things I noticed were that Peter Hogan was playing very deep where as Tommy Ryan had been staying more inside with the Bennett's. I think we are more dangerous when we keep three inside so wondering if Hogan was told to roam a bit deeper or if it was just down to the weather and the need to get the ball.

The Bennett's, Moran and Barron were the best on the day as others have said. I thought Kearney did OK in bursts too. Pauric Mahony and Hogan were non existent in the first half but got going in the second and Mahony got one lovely point where he had only a split second to pull the trigger.

Aussie went half forward at first? But then there were some other substitutions to take off defenders and he went back. Still don't know where he's going to fit into the team but the half forward line is where we need some ball winners I think.

Any chance of Tadhg or Shane Fives being back next weekend? Prunty still out for another 5 weeks I presume.

Interesting to see Bennett staying on the frees. Mahony took over one long distance one where Bennett was running out to take and then Mahony missed it. Hopefully the management will make a decision on who's the main free taker and stick with it.

I think we've scored a goal in every game so far?

In this instance we should stick the game in Dungarvan, mad to give Clare a game in Walsh park a couple of months before the championship.

I understand the logic of that but I'd rather give our own lads as many games in Walsh Park as they can get.
