Purchasing a firearm off another person

Just wondering what the exact process is to buy a rifle off of a private seller. I know I have to go through a rfd. Can an rfd send to another rfd if the person you are buying off is a fair distance away.

You don't need an RFD to do a private sale.

Exact same as buying from an RFD just in section 3.3 (Source of Firearm) you use part B (Private Source) instead of A (RFD). You input the name, address and contact number for the seller. You also input their certificate number.

All other sections you fill out as you would, normally.

The only time an RFD is needed is if the seller has no longer got a license for it in which case they need to leave it in an RFD for storage or the license is lapsing very soon (sooner than it would take for an application to be processed).

Thanks for the reply. Is there any hassle posting a firearm from one dealer in the country to another?

That is up to the RFDs. They can ship among themselves without an issues (its their business) just a matter of what they want for doing it.

So even if I gave not received the license yet the person who I bought the firearm off can give it to his rfd to ship to my rfd hassle free
