I don’t know the ins and outs of the incident in the hotel in Tullamore and can’t watch the videos in work, well I can but I’m not going to.

However, some hotel owners have been known to treat those being put up by CoCo’s in a very different way to how they treat other customers and I have seen this with my own eyes. I witnessed one lady being told to hurry up with her breakfast because they needed the table for a ‘paying’ customer. My heart sank.

Going on hearsay I heard similar about Apollo house, things like not being allowed to use non-plastic cutlery and just generally being spoken down to.

I really don’t know what the answer is but homelessness is a money maker for a lot of people but is also a way for ****ty people who are not happy with their own lot to look down on others. I suppose, today’s musing is that for every Margaret Cash there are thousands of genuine cases also

    She’s obviously a traveller with 7 children.
The ‘Hotel’ seems to be just used for homeless people. Because of this it should be staffed by people trained in their specific needs.
The owners obviously at the end of his tether and should stand aside. No moneys worth the abuse and aggro of trying to deal with feral humans.

There were interesting comments from Dublin City Council Chief Executive, Owen Keegan. He says that if beds weren’t made so readily available that there wouldn’t be a homeless crisis. Does he have a valid point? https://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/fury-after-dublin-city-council-14012757

I don't think there's anybody here that doesn't have sympathy with those genuinely homeless.
Those who have worked, paid taxes and who unfortunately got caught with the boom bust in this country. Trying to make efforts to pay a mortgage, but defaulting through lack of finances, trying to keep it all afloat. Rents are scandalous so high. Childcare is high. I understand , I get it.
What I don't get is a traveller who has €100k sitting in the bank, demanding a house, but not just any house, a house with a room for each kid by the looks of it.
Whatever happened to double and triple bunks, sharing rooms and beds?
Whatever happened to being grateful that any roof over your head is better than none at all.
Whatever happened to getting a job, a part time job, going out, earning a living?
Whatever happened to not going out for drinks, and saving the few euro.

    This crap makes me sick.

Just doing a bit of googling on Bernard, he stood for Dail Election in 2016 and got 129 votes.

Sounds like he got the votes of all the educated* travellers.

And no wonder the hotel, catering trade have had it with her likes.
Happened to stop off for a quick bite to eat in a fast food place in the Midlands recently.
Traveller family taking up 5/6 tables, a good 15 or so of them. Sat back, threw orders at the cashier, burgers, wraps, cokes, ice creams, you name it. They say there, shouting, roaring, calling the cashier for their food.
Poor girl delivered their food as fast as it was coming out. Demanding feckers, salt, sauce, straws, she was wrecked, all they had to do was get up and walk to the counter and get those items.
Savages, fries on floor, wrappers stood upon, sauce packs squashed, pigs.
And not one thank you, not one.

In the interest of fairness, Mags isn’t demanding a huge house. Council guidelines suggest that she needs a minimum of a 4 bed house.

A diet like that along with bucket loads of red bull is one of the reasons travellers don't have the same life expectancy as settled people.

I took a photo of a traveller baby, I would guess between 18 months to 2 years old, sitting at a table next to me for lunch with a can of Red Bull. I’ll see if I can find it!

    There's no fairness.
    She's made plenty demands.
She has a roof over her head now, why is she moaning,?cause it's not her forever home? Anyone with a mortgage doesn't have a forever home til it's paid for.

There is murders on Facebook. A traveller by the name of Michelle Gray O Brien shared a video of the owner of a homeless hotel refusing to serve the family breakfast due to the behaviour of her kids.
Of course it’s everyone else’s fault and the hotel owner should ignore the bad behavior because it’s only a child gbh.

First comment under this video on one of the sharing pages:

"That hotel owner want his face busted a dirty scummy tramp"

In fairness if she spent a little less time on her back and a little more time in education she might have been able to get a job and source a place to live for herself.

People think she is just sitting there waiting to be handed a mansion. She said numerous times she would take a 3 bed house and the council havent done anything. She also said numerous times she has no problem paying rent.

The house might not have been to standard . We don't know. As i said a new build would sort this quickly .

She had a huge problem paying rent in the past and she knows fine well under guidelines she can’t accept or won’t be offered a three bed because she kept firing children out of her one after the other when she had nowhere to live. She’s waiting on €100k payout. She isn’t “entitled” to a house. She is a drain on society and her and her spawn will cost the law abiding decent contributing members of society millions in her lifetime.

Personally I’d let her back into pennies to rob a sleeping bag and let her fend for herself. If she can’t look after her children they should be placed in care.

She also said that the gubbermint is Robbin her and driving offences don't count...... So I don't believe anything she says......

Yes I've noticed that Travellers are very comfortable lording it over service workers. I've seen the same thing in McDonalds. They come off more like bossy aristocrats threatening tardy servants with a thrashing than the campaigners for equality and solidarity that they purport to be.

Its gone beyond a joke at this stage. What more can she be put through and her 7 kids. I know the council are struggling to source a house big enough but i think a new build would be the way to go.

She could offer to use some of the 100k + she's due to inherit to help towards her accommodation requirements. As an aside my BIL is buying a nice 3 bed in Kilkelly Mayo for 85k. Well within Mags price range.

To be fair, they don't discriminate. They treat all country people the same.:mad::mad:

Course she needs to be in Dublin also, cause you know it's where the all the jobs she will be applying for are.

Its unfair that she would have to spend inheritance money on purchasing her own home. She shouldnt have to wait until she is 35. Its about principle now. She cant give in

Correct me if I'm wrong but did Ms Cash lose one house because she didn't pay the rent?

You might find this surprising now but an awful lot of people use their inheritance to get on the property ladder. Why should Margaret be different?

Margaret would deny that but I have heard from family in Tallaght that is true

She doesn't have access to that money.
