Murph is an excellent foil for Ken

The main show is mainly fine, depending who they have on, the Extra Time nonsense can be painful.

I think Craig Burley is the guy who said that, not Steve Nicol

I don't think Miguel is a spoofer at all. I think he absolutely knows his stuff, seems very informed and I think he is a very good writer.

I think sometimes his delivery on air is a little laborious and doesn't flow as well as his written word does. That can make him a little harder to listen to than say a Sid Lowe or somebody.

I think he more than knows his stuff though, and I enjoy listening to him and reading his stuff.

Fair bloody play to him. He's carved out a very good career for himself out of the Sunday Tribune demise.
Listening to some of these "analysts" etc is entertaining but lets no one forget they are all "spoofers" to some degree.
If they were as sharp as they'd like to think they are they'd be coaches, managers, professional gamblers etc.
Nothing wrong with a spoofer, as I said, tis about the entertainment factor and some do add a different angle.

You only have to listen to a few of them - not gonna name any names - to hear how their views and standpoints change with the wind.

Is it just me or do they seriously speed up the tone of Matty Williams voice? Not a complaint or anything but it is funny. Especially listening to him here on TV3. He sounds like a cartoon character sometimes.

    Ken's absence is keenly felt.

When I saw the Monday football show was only 37 minutes long I knew something was wrong.

Separately, is yesterday’s show refusing to play on the iOS podcast app for anyone else?

Would anyone by that flakey to cease their subscription just because he went on holiday?

I think there is a few people on here think they should be doing podcasts on weekends too and never take a holiday because they give them a fiver a month

If you arent getting much from half the month, why would you bother paying for something you wont use? Its easy enough to opt out and resub. Buy yourself a pint with the proceeds instead. Having said that, i am staying subbed as i will get something from Kenless pods. Just less enjoyment.

Well their are 1 man podcasts that put out more hours of content every week of the year than 2nd captains and also make them quickly on holiday or tour or whatever. I don't think its that unreasonable to ask that they do some weekend pods. There is 5 or 6 of them. Taking two weeks at Christmas is my biggest problem as its the most congested time of the year for English football.

For me its still worth it but if it cost any more i might unsubscribe. There are other football pods that if someone is off they don't shorten the show in half. Its not that hard.

Ah, I don't begrudge them having some holidays they are only human after all, but there's no denying that the shows are far duller without any input from Ken. The show yesterday was one of the most boring episodes of SC I've heard in a long time - GAA league talk and nothing else, Jesus wept! - expect a bit more of that until the team is back to full strength.

Probably would have been the same show if Ken was there or not. Last few weeks the Tuesday has been mainly NFL chat, which he has no input to. What else would they cover on Tuesday? They would have done a football show on Monday.

If anything Ken is the only one trick pony on SC. He covers football and football only.

That's true, he's a one trick pony alright, but he's the most interesting and engaging of them to listen to. Yeah, Tuesday is usually the slowest day of the week, but there's usually a bit of chat about other random things too which can often be more interesting than the main subject of the pod. Did you honestly think yesterdays show was rivetting stuff? I thought it was next-level dull even compared to usual Tuesday fare.

I thought it was grand, not essential listening but it passed away a car journey for me. They would have covered the league football fixtures whether Ken was there or not. But point taken they’ll usually have some rabble about something else with Ken on days like Tuesdays.

Might be an unpopular opinion but give me a Eoin & Murph pod all day over a Ken & Murph.

Personally I think Eoin and Murph are too broadly similar when they are presenting by themselves and end up cancelling each other out a bit.

I thought the same at the start but by god that pod dragged on ended up skipping the last 15 minutes.

For me Eoin and Ken are the two MVP's i like Murph but he's more a side kick than full on superhero

Yeah, the reality is they're brilliant as a trio, you take any one of them out and the quality is diminished....but moreso when Eoin and Ken are missing.

Ken's novel insights into other sports are my favourite thing in the podcast.

    He's Second Captains' Dickie Rock.

I switched the football show off on Monday once I realized it was Ken-less. Eoin is a decent interviewer, but bland and I just can't warm to Murph. The way he pronounced 'made' as 'med' irrationally irritates me and his try hard humour does too. I'm sure he's great at the gaa or rugby, but I've no interest in that area.

He's grand when it's just him and Ken though for some reason, but him and Eoin just melt into each other style.

Hopefully Sadlier has someone decent for the players chair this week. Non Millwall preferably!

Haha that is classic everytime he says "med" drives me mad. I like him on it but that one pronounciation just wrecks my head way more than it should.
