I personally expect to get a view of their combined SC calendar so I know when to unsubscribe for the month. Didn't even bother downloading yesterday's pod as I knew it would be a waste of my time

I missed Ken's barstool Dublin fan take yesterday, I enjoyed yesterdays pod though, Sean O'Sullivan trying to play the cute hoor and talk down Kerry's chances was amusing to me.

If ever there was a perfect time for that Pat Kenny "cheap shot, cheap shot" audio clip, surely straight after that excerpt of that on-air brain fart of his was it.

I think its mad there is this concept that because each individual thing is relatively inexpensive that getting value for your money goes out the window.

Each to their own though i dont mind if you dont mind spending the money. We can agree to disagree.

Are you genuinely pissed off that Ken Early is gone on holidays?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

I get pissed off about very few things to do with what i do for recreation. This isnt one of them.

Mild annoyance would be more accurate.

Mildly annoyed that someone has gone on holiday?

But why are you annoyed that a man has gone on holidays? That's a bizarre way to be. He's entitled to holidays like every other person who works in this country.

Mildly annoyed the pods aren't great without him. Calm it down lads my opinion doesn't affect either of ye in any way. No need to let it mildly annoy you.

I'm mildly annoyed at all the mild annoyance.

I’ve never in my life before felt so mildly annoyed.

    Come back Ken!

Would anyone by that flakey to cease their subscription just because he went on holiday?

Judging past comments on this thread, most definitely. People give out about no pod on Christmas day.
I've a backlog of podcasts, I'm happy with a few gaa ones I can delete straight away.

I listen to the five minutes at the start and end of these episodes just to hear the lads chatting.

That is exactly what i do and it is usually the most entertaining sections of every pod. They seems to rush the chat a bit too much which is often disappointing.

I listen to everything the lads put out, even stuff that I find mind-numbingly dull like Horse Racing or Golf.

I missed Ken on Rice, but Emmet Malone was excellent all the same, well nuanced and no hysteria about his take on the situation.

Ken has a habit of being on holidays when something big happens. Declan Rice this time but I'm nearly positive there was some other big story the last time he was away as well. Maybe MON and Keane leaving?

I'm one of those Monday freeloaders and I listen to them when I'm out for a walk at lunchtime.

I used to easily get 4 or even 5 days out of the 2 free pods and with good stuff to listen to too, but the last few weeks in particular have been poor. The Leinster rugby stuff used to be good but I find the quality of chat about Ireland matches to be completely inane, the GAA stuff is insufferable and a lot of the soccer stuff is poor these days too (Ken lost his mojo since Jose got sacked and Man Utd stopped losing so much, his heart isn't in it, no wonder he's on holiday) so it's skip.. skip... skip...

    /complaining about free stuff

Gives me the chance to catch up on their RTE pods from last summer though, which are good, provided you approach them as entertainment rather than sports.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

I stopped listening to them a good while ago. There is only so much of Ritchie turning the interview into it being about him and him performing self psychoanalysis on his career that I can take.

I never got around to the last one and I've no idea who the guest is on this one.

I've said this before (and on this thread I think) but there comes a point in your life when you realise that none of this really matters and you've most likely heard it all before, only this time the characters might be different but broadly the same conversational points are in play.

I think the same goes for the "presenters" when it come down to it. The angles are the same, the commentary the same - how often can it be rehashed.

I still enjoy the pods in general but I think too much of any one thing reduces your interest in it over time.

They do very little of the two things I'm interested in (LOI and GAA) but when I'd think nothing of spending €3 on a bottle of beer, or €10 on a packet of fags, then I've no issue with paying six quid even if it's only for 3 or 4 podcasts a month.

    Same here.

Really enjoyed the LOI preview podcast. Fair play to the lads doing their bit in promoting the league and Irish football!

They did a LOI preview? What day? Can't see it in the show descriptions.

    I didn't hear this either

    Sarcasm I'd assumed!
