Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Let's hope nobody in your family has mental health issues, your solution is clearly to assault them.

We've come so far in relation to mental health in Ireland, but the comments like this show some people still live in the dark ages.

The stigma is still alive and well.

But do we know it is a mental health issue or are we relying on Facebook comments from paramedics who may just be presuming it is a mental health issue?

Oh ffs, does a mentally stable person behaving like this? It's clearly some sort of mental health disturbance, possibly psychosis

Drugs my friend. Could be drugs. Acid or the likes could make a person behave like that. Just because a paramedic says it is mental health doesnt mean it is unless of course he/she attended the treatment of the man. If that is the case then they shouldn't be on Facebook discussing it.

Drugs can and do induce mental health disturbances such as psychosis, but not exclusively, I know someone who recently experienced non-drug induced psychosis, caused by severe anxiety and depression. I've never had a Facebook account, just plenty of personal experience with mental health issues

Im not saying that chap has not got mental health issues all im saying is how do we know it wasnt drugs or the likes? Just because a paramedic said so on Facebook doesnt mean it is factual.

If it is a mental health issue then how was this man ever let into this country? We barely deal with our own peoples mental health so we should not be accepting in people who only add to the issues which our mental health services face.

Yes there is. No-one going about their daily life in the city wants to hear some jesus nut mouthing off about salvation and damnation. And I'm sure businesses in the vicinity would rather he was not there. Especially a cafe with outdoor seating. Who want's to sit down for coffee and listen to preaching? And some people might be put off in case he'd come over and bother them.

Nothing wrong with religion. Each to their own. But they shouldn't be out mouthing off around the street making a nuisance of themselves.

They do it in Cork too. There's mormons, but they are harmless enough and they keep to themselves for the most part and let people approach if they want. But now and again there are hard core preachers, mouthing off about this or that and handing out bits of literature. Piss off away from me!

I take it you have the same objection to the "social activists" mouthing off on the street about some bee in their bonnet,?

We don't, without a drugs test, but again, how do we know it wasn't drugs either? I didn't read Facebook comments, just using my own knowledge, and if it was drug induced, how and why did it occur?

Mental health disturbances can be environmentally induced, did this occur here, and should we simply ignore it?

So you agree with me regarding the drugs theory yet you appeared frustrated at the very notion i suggested it may have been drugs and not a mental health issue? Im not on Facebook either im just adressing the comments made that is wasnt drugs by a paramedic on Facebook which was mentioned by Cabaal in the post i originally replied to.

I know there are many factors which can induce mental health issues and many people suffer from mental health problems alot more than we know of. I have a family member who has us all on edge with the sporadic breakdowns and hints of ending everything so i know how this works regarding someones mindset. Unfortunately though almost most things these days are attributed to mental health when sometimes all is needed is a reality check and maybe as aziz said a kick up the hole. The reaction regarding his comment is a bit ott as we dont know why that chap in the video acted the way did. If someone can come along and state as fact it was because of mental health then fair enough.
By the way i dont agree with azizs comments i just dont see why people are quick to jump all over them without knowing the facts.

In this mans case though it is not clear as to what happened. That man was either high as a kite or he has a serious issue with his mental well being. My opinion is he was on drugs. I wonder if i was on Facebook and masqueraded as an expert on drugs would people believe me that it was drugs? Probably.

So mental health issues should be dealt with a 'kick up the hole'? Shur nobody knows the facts here, neither you or me, again, yes mental health issues can be drug and non-drug induced, if drug induced, why did this occur, why do drug users/addicts become so?

It appears you are letting your eyes do all the reading without your mind processing what you are actually reading. Read it again (minus the outrage) and you will see the context of what i said regarding the kick up the hole comment.

I'm just speaking against the mockery, I don't know the guy preaching only from what I've seen here. I am a Christian though, and I wouldn't be one if I didn't believe the Bible to be true. So it's for that reason I believe that people need to hear the gospel, Jesus' death, burial and resurrection for our sins. Especially so in this day and age that's getting more and more godless by the second. I see JW's there on the quay almost every morning with their stand out and pamphlets, and while I disagree with them I don't feel the need to mock them. I'm just glad to know that there are still people out there, like the preacher in the video, spreading the truth amongst all the confusion.

    What's your view on dinosaurs?

point taken but you d be surprised at the lack of understanding and awareness of addiction problems and mental issues in society, theres been some great research over the years on it, always interesting to chat to professionals involved in the sector, its also disturbing to here the lack of services that are available to deal with it to

I know full well about the lack of understanding regarding mental health. As i said in the post earlier a family member is going through some issues which has affected their mental health. The threat of them taking their own life is very much there and it has all my family on edge. The authorities seem very slow to help with the issue and i fear it will be the final downfall.

Also i must addres your comment about autism aswell just in case you think i was being intentionally rude to you. My partners daughter has autism and i know how hard it can be. In fact imo that is less understood than mental health so it can be difficult to get the help needed. I would never disregard you or anyone else for having such issues to deal with.

I guess we never know what goes on with people and i hope that chap is ok. Unfortunately though when it comes to social media people love getting outraged, people add legs to stories, spread lies etc. Some people dont bother reading the whole story and then there is an section of people who believe everything they hear especially when it comes to anyone in a certain profession ie our paramedic friend as mentioned by Cabaal. BTW this is not a dig at you or Cabaal i just get perplexed at our reaction to what others may say from time to time. Its like some are waiting to be offended.

Facebook is toxic as is this place so id take what i see or read here or there with a pinch of salt.
