Struggled into work this evening with tired legs and a strong headwind. Managed to lose my virb on the R127 somewhere between Finnegans Corner and Blakes Cross. Was so annoyed, I undid the mount and threw it away.
So, if anyone finds it and it still works, you're welcome to it as I've no mount now. Grrr….

Battling with the headwind starting off my regular loop but three new PRs on Strava on the downwind part.

Out for 50km on Saturday and 42km on Sunday, tough wind and rain on Sunday

100 odd kilometers around West Dublin, Meath and Kildare in the howling wind and scuttering rain. Pure misery but you're always glad you got out in the end.

A 200km spin yesterday with 6 other lads (2 bailed early).

Joined the organiser on a recce for a new Audax event scheduled for the end of February.

Fantastic route of mainly backroads, devoid of motorised vehicles, starting and finishing in Midleton.

A lumpy start hugging the coastal roads to Youghal/Ardmore and Ring but a nice tailwind for the first 100+km's.

A much needed refuel in Dungarvan saw us head inland travelling Northwest along the Blackwater valley into a bloody cruel headwind for the next 70km.

Completely shagged out by the time I got back to Midleton and running on empty.

Total moving time 8 hrs 14 mins.

Do it all again next month! :D:D

Planned heading out for some off-road at lunch only to find my back wheel was flat so took the CX bike out to Enniskerry instead for a change. Even though traffic was only moderate it reminded how much nicer the quiet l-roads in the area are even though I am killed going up the steeper bits. Bumped into Namelessphil on the way back for a quick hello on what was an otherwise uneventful 31k. CX bike was also a bit creaky, so it of maintenance in order this evening on both bikes.

35km on my own, slow puncture at the Mullagh so tried to get enough air in to get me home but had to stop three more time before it finally gave up the ghost.

Traffic on the Dunboyne - Summerhill road was busy and very close too

nice commute in today 27.5km, passed a zillion cars on the N7, tailwind etc. One of those great mornings.

verging on over dressed though supposed to get colder during the week. Fab bit of weather all in all

yep, was in shorts this morning. put on armwarmers too under a light enough top, and it was overkill.

I went with a warmer base layer as I'm recovering from a cold and felt quite cold on the bike yesterday. much regret.

Had multiple layers on over lunch for a spin around Massey's wood and it still felt nippy enough. A pretty good January so far for being outdoors for all that.

Stopped at the lights outside work only to spot my tube sticking out through the sidewall. Nursed it home anyway

Fifteen mins from home my front light got the red ring telling me its dying. I put it on its lowest setting and cycled like the clappers. It was a dark and damp night. Made it home and light still just about OK. Time to recharge. No. Pr's but a good way to get the heart pumpingðŸ˜

Very chilly this morning. There was a nasty shine off the road in some parts too. Dodgy enough. :D

Yeah feckin' freezing spin in this morning. I'm using MTB gloves so not ideal for the cold weather. Needed about 10 minutes for the fingers to defrost after. Still, at least no near-death moments.

the aldi neoprene gloves did a decent enough job this morning. didn't notice any issue with grip on the commute, but will need to check the bike for salt when i get home, a few roads were reasonably well gritted.

Ninja mode this morning. Lots of layers, balaclava and neck warmer found the right balance.

The reheats in my tor’s was painful

Road was wet but not icy even though temps were around 1 degree. It was cold, tested out the merino wool tights from Aldi (decent enough).

Yesterday evening though, looked fine when i was leaving the office, got past the first 100 metres and the heavens opened. Was fairly soaked.

got down as low as -0.6 degrees on my Garmin this morning on Alfie Byrne road! the cycle track looked frosted there but didn't feel slippery. other than the headwind it was a beautiful morning to be out :)

Put in a little over 30km on the bullitt this morning, wrapped up well so didn't feel the cold but noticed it in my legs, and the handling of the bike with the front tyre noticeably understeering a couple of times.

60km on it yesterday and i think I'm feeling that in my legs today on top of the cold

36km last night with two guys from the club, down as low as -1c in parts but nice enough out.

It’s the only road I passed that morning where the Grady area was covered in white frost

Swords to Drogheda this morning on the club Thursday spin. Largely stayed on the R132 which was horrible. Terrible surface, lots of potholes and constant passing traffic. Despite the odd pool of ice off-road, the road surface was frost-free which was why we were there rather than on the back roads.
After a much needed coffee and mini-breakfast at Bia, we headed for the thawed out back roads and had a super spin home via Stamullen, Balscadden and Man O'War. What a difference a few degrees, thawed hands and quiet roads can make :)

little bit warmer (well, about 3C warmer) on the way home, and i think i found their achilles heel. they don't exactly breathe. sweaty hands, and that was at about 3 degrees.

First 100km of the new year, strong wind against me for the first 45km, got the benefit of it after that...
