No tobacco, baby formula, medicines etc. Phone credit is included and can be bought at self service.

Oh brill thanks. Vodafone are also giving an extra €10 when you top up by €30 that'll be a good deal when €15 of essentials is added on to make up the €45.

No they aren't accepted in the shop. Some people have had luck through self scan.

It depends on who you meet.
    Try self service tough!

I tried self service this evening and no joy as the assistant had to put through alcohol for me. She said oh we can't accept that ....I had it on my phone maybe I should have used a printed copy?

  • Registered Users Posts: 407 ✭✭audi02

I just picked up a few bits in tesco and 2x€30 Vodafone credit..whole lot came to €72. Used a €12 off 60 and €10 off €45..paid €50. This was at self service. Vodafone credit is worth €40 cos if you top up by €30 you get €10 free so all in all €92 worth of stuff for €50. Should've chanced another €10 off €45 to see

No bother. It's needless clutter though that makes people miss out on the important info for the BA. It's about backwards at the sled scans if you ask me. I bet the airtime voucher caught you out!

How do you buy it at the self scan checkout? I bought something today but couldn't see where to buy phone credit - do you select the "item does not scan" option and enter it or something or do you need to get an assistant to put it in for you? Does the code come out with your receipt then?

    Thanks

trick is to ask to get the alcohol cleared by assistant before applying the voucher I think!

None in Daily Mirror, Examiner, and Independent. No idea in others.

Yes you get a printout with the code on it with your receipt. Check to make sure you get it, I did not get it one time, they printed out another for me.

When you start scanning your items on the self service, the 'Buy Airtime Voucher' button will bring you to phone top up.

You then select what ever you want and it'll print out as a separate receipt after your main receipt after you pay.

AFAIK most phone credit expires after 6 months so don't go too mad stocking up on it.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Ask Tesco staff, point to the print that says that 'Copies not accepted'

Yes. Daily Mirror is €1.3, but DM don't have the voucher this time unlike before.

  • Registered Users Posts: 407 ✭✭audi02

Ye know these vouchers are still valid until xmas eve. I use self service, scan my phone and just put an old receipt in the slot

Edit: they're all the same barcode so take no need of the dates..scan any of them. If €90 spend scan it twice etc

Yeah I saw a few people said they'd used it on delivery. Sure I'll just try and give it to the guy at the van and if not I'll ring them.

I used two already - thanks!

tried to use another today. Bill came to 46 euros and it was saying "amount too low" on the automatic checkouts. I dont think I bought anything that wouldnt be included. A few toiletries, food, a toy. Would any of this stuff not be allowed? Or any idea why it was rejected?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

    What toiletries?

Same here the other day. Added another 5e to the shop and it worked (made it over 50e total. Could be a coincidence)

It's probably down on the system in same category as medicines.
