    Anyone get this yet?

Have the hairdryer, love it and thinking of getting this for my Christmas gift.

It only works on damp hair, which is a massive concern for me. I usually wash my hair at night and style in the morning.
    That's just me though.

Very tempted myself. Kind of waiting for some real-world reviews, though.

Same, but a spray bottle like barbers use will sort that out.

My hair is thin enough and would be easy to damp.

I love the hairdryer, I'm home from gym and its dried in a minute, so am seriously tempted as I love their products.

It's some price! £400 - it would want to work wonders. The marketing hype does make it sound tempting though!

If it's as good as the dryer it'll be worth every penny.

    I must admit, I'm tempted!
My hair is a disaster, I have an awful lot of it but it's very fine and frizz/static-prone so it doesn't do well with regular blow drying (plus I'm too lazy to spend my time on something that yields such mediocre results!) so it could work wonders for me - I love a good curly blowdry, which is kind of the effect the Dyson promises, and the smoothing brush looks great too from watching a few YouTube videos.
I have had heated rotating brushes that kind of do the same thing but the lack of bristles which cause tangling and breakage, and the much lower risk of heat damage make the Dyson seem very attractive, despite the high price.
Right now i have a Boots voucher and a One4All I earned by doing online surveys so if I saved up a few more like that I could maybe buy it this time next year :D
I'd be slow to spend 'real' money on it just in case it ends up in the bottom of a drawer with all my other fails after a few uses!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,767 ✭✭✭GingerLily

I'd love to see a comparison betwen this and the babyliss wave secret, the other one is about a quarter of the price!

    Absolutely.

Best 400 I ever spent. Saved me so much time.

Think I'm going to go for this.

I got one, but am keeping it until Christmas, if it's half as good as the advertising it'll be worth it. If you keep an eye out Boots offer €10 back for every €60 spent in store or €70 online as points on your Boots card, which helps mitigate the cost somewhat..

Said I was going to push the button and get it. The volume and style version.

None in boots and none in Dyson.

Fair enough! I haven’t tried the dryer but I wonder if I have the wrong type of hair for it - fine and poker straight. A normal hair dryer gets my hair dry in about 5 minutes :).

For €400 it would want to get me up and dressed in the morning and wash my hair for me. That said, anyone I’ve seen use it has always had the most beautiful bouncy curls. I’d buy it if it was half price.

  • Registered Users Posts: 256 ✭✭Crybabygeeks

Tried it in Arnotts today. It was unreal!!! Loved it. Beautiful curly blow dry look in no time.

It's totally different to a normal curling tongs as you really just hold the hair to the wand and it wraps itself. I have the thickest hair so the lady said smooth and calming one would work for me. Am seriously tempted but would be so annoyed with myself if I spent 450 and didn't get 10 years of beautiful hair everyday out of it...

Any real world reviews and feedback for thick, kink/wave prone hair that usually needs to be dried and ghd'd to be presentable??! :pac:

Also in Brown Thomas on the top floor.

My hair is quite fine and wavy. Normal (old) Parlux dries my hair in under 5 mins so I don't see a time saving for the Dyson.

I got it about 5 weeks ago. I have always been skeptical of Dyson products.

I love, love, love it. I've mid length hair passed my shoulder and a lot of it. It's frizzy and kinky. My hair holds a style but it's a bit lion King like if I don't give it a lot of time and attention when drying.

I can now dry my hair straight (not poker) from damp with the brush in 10min. That's a game changer. It's very presentable and sleek and I'm fussy. Before it would have taken about 30min and I would probably have gone over it with my ghd.

I can curl it in 30min. It normally takes me 30-40min to curl my hair from dry so curling it from wet in 30min is great for me. I find my hair is much softer since using it.

For me it's worth every penny, I can curl my hair today and will have some form of curls for 3 days :)

You also have 30 days to try it and if you are not 100% happy you get your money back.

There are 3 different versions and I figure if I’m going to spend this much money I may as well pay the few quid more and get the one with all the tools (Airwrap Complete). The other 2 have different tools included in each.

My problem now is getting my hands on it... :( boooooo
If anyone knows anywhere selling the Complete version Id appreciate the heads up....

I have had my name on their waiting list for nearly 2 months for the complete kit and no sign of it coming in. I gave up and got the smooth and control. I personally think they won't stock the complete anymore because they will get more money from selling the parts separately.

    2 months!!! eeeek! That’s such a shame! :(
I only added my name to the list about 2 weeks ago! Wonder if I contacted them would i get a straight answer about whether it’ll be stocked again....... Might give it a bash, see what happens.

what are the chances of anywhere in UK having it? 🀔

Damn. Never thought of curry's. Ah well.

On the 10% back, it's only for online orders that are paid for online, these have to be delivered. The dyson isn't available for home delivery so you can only click and collect which involves paying in store.

My God! Someone out there has money.

I would love it but it would only sit in the press with all the other stuff I don't use. I was looking at this amazing Babyliss thing recently and only realised two days later I already have it

Nope. To collect it you pay in store. It would be a great saving if the 10% did apply, until its available for home delivery it won't work.

Buzzfeed reviewed it and their verdict was: worth every penny, buy now.

I'm going to go halves with my sister. We did the same thing with the dryer, which we'll probably flog once we get this.

Anyone get a Christmas gift and care to review? 😀

  • Registered Users Posts: 561 ✭✭✭HiGlo

I got it just before Christmas and have just used it once so far.
first off, I have thick heavy dead straight hair so my experience of it prob doesn’t fully reflect its abilities.
It’s really simple to use and you get a great looking curl but for me, 30-60 seconds later it had disappeared... I plan to practice more and a friend suggested i add mousse to my wet hair so i’ll try that in effort to hold it better. The pack recommends you practice with the thicker barrel (i got the complete) but i found the smaller barrel worked better for me.
I also didn’t section my hair off well.
All in all, I can see how good it is for people with normall hair, but i’m not 100% convinced yet that it’s suitable for my hair. I may return it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 480 ✭✭Mac0783

Hi, I got it before Christmas as well. I've used it twice, yesterday after washing, took me a while to get the hang of it. I have long thick hair, but it holds curls really well, well it does when i go to the hairdressers, yesterday looked fab but like the previous poster the curls dropped really quickly but it looked like a nice blow dry.

Today i sprayed my hair, now it was pretty dry but the curl is holding much better. Like that i'm going to get some mousse, blow-dry spray and hairspray to see if that helps it hold.

There's definitely a knack to it and i am useless at doing my hair, but for day 2 i'm happy, going keep using it most days until I get it right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,020 ✭✭✭✭anewme

I think the second day styling thing is relevant. My hair is far too soft after washing to hold anything and is always better on 2nd day.

Still dying to get one of these!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,517 ✭✭✭foodaholic

    Keep the reviews coming in
I am tempted but hefty price tag is putting me off
    Have frizzy kinky hair

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,186 ✭✭✭dee_mc

What's put me off a lot of the reviews I've seen on YouTube is that most of the reviewers are using it on barely damp hair with no product, then complaining that the curls drop after a period of time.
I know it's Dyson and I know it's expensive but I feel a lot of reviewers are kind of expecting it to be magic - decent reviews are few and far between.

First time using it Stephens night. I have a lot of hair but it’s very very fine. Very easy to use. Curls looked good when done initially but they didn’t last for me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 568 ✭✭✭fifi28

Got one from santa (via myself paying towards it :))
Used it Christmas day but was in a hurry and while it was straight it wasnt the best, used it for the second time today with just the straightening brush and got much better results!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,151 ✭✭✭lubie76

Just wondering if the christmas purchasers have any further opinions on the airwrap after using for a few weeks?

Those that have owned the dyson hairdryer, how does it compare to the smaller dryer attachment that comes with the airwrap?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 480 ✭✭Mac0783

Hi, The more I use it the more I love it, I have blow-dried my hair straight with it once, all done and dusted in 12 minutes and I didn't need to use the GHD after. My husband couldn't believe I had washed my hair I was ready so quickly!

I am slowly getting the knack of the curls and I love it, getting faster every time too. You definitely need product but I think it's well worth the money. I wash my hair every 3 days - day 1 curl with airwrap, day 2 brush out curls have wavy hair, day 3 - perfect for full ponytail or sometimes I run GHD through too curl and they sit so well, like the hair has curl memory!

    I highly recommend it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 561 ✭✭✭HiGlo

My luck hasn't really changed with it. I've only used it twice and the curls don't last longer than about 2 mins. I've been messaging back and forth with Dyson as I'm pretty sure I'm going to send it back but gonna give it one last shot using mousse and see how I get on.
Not confident so I think I'll be returning it.

If you have a Brown Thomas near you maybe you could have a chat with the people who are in there demonstrating it (there's a stand in BT Limerick anyway) and see if they have any tips re best products/method to use for your hair type?

Sorry for bumping an old thread but I’m wondering how those who bought this are finding it 18 months later?

I was always tempted by it and I’m seriously thinking about buying it now but I’d like to hear how people are getting on with it after a period of time.

I already have a ghd straightener which I use a lot and a babyliss curl secret which I loved at the start but haven’t used in nearly 2 years now and I’m afraid this would be the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 370 ✭✭tea_and_cake

I still love it. I couldn't be with out it now. I changed my hair style so it's a lob and I only straighten it but I've it dried and styled in ten min from wet. I've thick hair so to me it's a god sent :D I will try the curl with shorter hair, I just don't have the time at the min. I recommend it to everyone.

Thanks for this. My hair is just above my shoulders at the moment and I’d love to be able to dry it straight but with volume. Like you Said curls just take time And I probably wouldn’t use it much for that but if I can get good volume Easily it would be worth it to me.

I don't need volume (I've a lot of hair) but I do add a little bit at my roots and find it easy to get rid of the flatness.
