Just got a system update that adds September's security patches, plus VoLTE and VoWiFi. Does anyone know if the voice over functions work on our networks over here?

From €129 upfront and €30 a month for the first 3 months and then €55 a month on a 24 month contract. Sim free still a better way to go.

Cheapest place to get one of these now? Vodafone or sim free. Adverts prices still going strong just over 500 quid.

Has anybody had use of the P20 Pro and Galaxy S9+? I'm torn between the two or maybe even a new Mi Mix 3 from China if reviews are good! The camera reviews for the P20 seem unreal but the S9 is probably a bit more polished is my initial impression.

    Appreciate any input.

I have the P20 Pro as a work phone and the S9+ as a personal phone and to be honest, I wish I had the P20 for both.

I've always had Samsung so the S9+ seemed a natural upgrade from my old S7, then two weeks after upgrade, work changed my phone to the P20 and I love it. Battery is phenomenal, camera super and its fast - looks great too in the twighlight.

Not saying the S9+ is a bad phone at all, just no comparison in my view to the P20 Pro.

Got the p20 Pro this week. Initial Impressions are it's a great step up from my previous phone.
Just noticed there appears to be a screen protector on it.
Anybody remove this or leave it for obvious reasons.

I left it there until it was scratched up and then stuck a tempered glass on it. If you remove it there is an oleophobic screen so that still helps with smudges.

Thanks. Picking up a month old Honor 10 for 250 quid this evening. Reckon it's a decent alternative at more than half the price.

I left it on for a week and replaced it with this; https://www.ultimateshield.co.uk/products/huawei-p20-pro-tempered-glass-screen-protector.

I found a 15% discount somewhere for it. It's a great screen protector.

Where would be a good place to pick up a new officail fast charger? Cable & plug.

It took a bit of searching but I got a few off ebay - look out for a dealer called londogear2014 - bought a few and they seem to be working ok so far.

It took me a good while to find some but be careful - look for plugs that say supercharging and not fast charging if I remember correctly.

Used the camera for the first time at a gig on Friday and I was extremely disappointed with it. Leaving it in automatic mode just didn't work. The images were blurry and pretty much unusable. Switched it to manual but I couldn't get a better result. Had to switch to monochrome to get a decent shot.
I've never really had an issue getting good pictures on my One Plus One (yep the first one)
Seems like for still photography it's great but anything else it struggled.

    Found it great at slayer

Do you have examples of the shots you were getting

Fine for me. Depends on usual gig lighting/distance factors.
Zoom didn't really help quality though.

    Thanks for that.
I imagine that particular gig didn't have much of a frantic light show.
I guess I'm just disappointed that my previous phone could handle any lighting conditions and still get great shot.
It annoyed me enough that I'm gonna look at an alternative now.

Makes me realise how few gigs ive been to this year actually.
Are you using 10 or 40 Mb? turn off master AI
40 tends to be too slow and 10 is enough.

Im happy with it for low light still stuff, not overly tested it on gigs tho. will see how it fares with U2 on Tuesday

Tried it all (or so I think) may have been set to 40. Ill go back in and check the pictures. I go to a fair amount of gigs so I'm hoping it's a user error rather than settings.
Low light is fantastic, although I read that they ditched the monochrome lense in the new mate 20 as they can have software do all the low light stuff now without the monochrome filter to assist

Can anyone else confirm this phone is unlocked from Three?

No offence Pacifico - just want another person's opinion.

Mine was unlocked from three, took the Vodafone SIM right away.

Is the one from 3 a dual sim model?

    - I'm open to correction but we have never had a dual sim model made available in Rep of Ireland from any operator.

See lots of reports on how bad the Huawei EMU?? Is I was sort of holding out for a Nokia 7.1 but doesn't look like any of the networks are going to offer it here,

I like the idea of Android one as I'm using a nexus 5x and it has no crap on it I have a Samsung s8 for work and hate it Samsung have ruined android on it,

I was thinking of a P20 on a Vodafone bill, I'm on SIM only with three buy don't want to / can't spend big money on a SIM free phone and the nexus has gotten very slow as it's 3 years old,

    Any advice,

No harm checking it out in the shop. I personally love it. Most apps can be disabled in settings anyway. I've just 1 screen - the standard home screen with clock and a couple of apps then a vertical app drawer in alphabetical order with everything else. Nice and neat. Love it.
