Thinking of getting one of these to replace my still working fine moto z play.

Would be moving mostly for the camera, is not going to the pro likely to be a mistake?

If you're mostly going for the camera then yes it would be a mistake.

    Why?

Have the P20 Pro now about a month. I love it. Great battery and camera and an easy change over from iphone (after a few youtube vids)

If the camera is the most important thing when chosing between them both you may as well go for then one with the more comprehensive camera set up.

Coupled with the larger screen and battery and the prices even the Pro are going for right now it's a better option imo.

Cheers, that's the sort if feedback I was looking for. Now to make the plunge

Seems silly getting rid of a phone that still "works" perfectly

Great phone so far, only problem is the low audio with bluetooth earphones, has anybody a solution?

EDIT: Solved it by turning up the volume to max not only on my phone but on the earphones themselves, which I don't have to do on other phones so I forgot I even could.

One annoying thing is audio pausing for a second when a notification occurs, will have to sort that too.

I don't have a Huawei phone but I use Bluetooth headset on my Xperia phone, if I have my phone on silent I don't get any pauses while listening to music when a notification pops up.

I had the same issue but can't remember how I fixed it, was sure I posted on here about it but I can't seem to find it

Please excuse my ignorance but is the update network specific? You can remove sim card and still update system via WiFi? BTW my phone was unlocked once I bought from three.ie and now has eir sim

I tried that as I have a Vodafone SIM too but didn't update. I think it's linked to the phones serial number and update comes from Huawei

    Does it do anything noteworthy?

Some new UI bells and whistles. Much improved battery life (for me anyway).

Good list of stuff changed here: https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/08/13/every-new-android-p-feature-weve-found-far-continuously-updated/

So far I like getting less notifications, work mode being on or off disabling work emails etc, the screen rotation icon in apps when I turn my phone, better management of screenshots being able to edit them when you take them, the digital wellbeing app that shows how much time you spend on your phone and what you do during that time, ability to limit app time per day etc.

Don't think it is android pie itself but the P20 has screen (with audio) recording which is nice, built in flux and some other things.

    Something about sandwiches

The missus is looking for a new phone. Was looking at the P20.
    Currently 419 on Three.

Rumours are that the P30 will be announced in March. Has anyone got a crystal ball that can tell me if this phone will get a big price reduction in a few weeks?

I got the Mate 10 Pro last night and get the update straight away on VF, so seems to be available across the board on VF now.

Still awaiting it on the P20 pro with VF PAYG :(

I noticed the pro has gone up 199 on eir bill pay after being reduced to 99 for the last while but oddly they are asking people to preorder it ,months after they have been selling it ,

Vigin are doing it for free with a Huawei Watch GT on bill pay

Went in and canceled my contact with them today and they insisted the P20 pro and the S9 never increased in price if anything they actually got cheaper ,

That took the biscuit for me went across the way to a virgin and got the pro for free with a smart watch included a few months worth of discount

    What watch did you get?

Paying 60per month just sits wrong with me :(

It's the Huawei GT watch , pretty decent smart watch with a few ok features and claims of a 2 week battery life
