The release of the free Monday pods is getting later and later, to the extent I can't use them as a Monday lunchtime walk accompaniment anymore.

    /whinge

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

I really enjoyed the episode (#1296) about American sprinters Tommie Smith and John Carlo and the Black Power salute at the '68 Olympics.

I zoned out a lot during the Real Madrid talk, it felt never-ending.

Edit: Sergio Ramos is one of those football figures Ken will monologue at length about. It gets boring after the first quarter of an hour; I don't really give a sht about Sergio Ramos.

While I don’t particularly care about Mourinho or Ramos, the psycho-drama/soap opera that Ken manages to portray using them (and others of course) as characters is almost unfailingly entertaining imo. Lots of pundits can describe or analyse what’s on the pitch - Ken does a tongue in cheek psychoanalysis of the protagonists and antagonists. It’s all largely horse**** and I love it

yes and him being self aware enough to reference his own over referencing of that Diego Torres book made me smile

While last Friday's podcast with Paul Rouse was immense, the sight of Davy Fitz in the pod title had me reaching near immediately for the trash can button.

I only listened to the end part about Lennon. No interest at all in stick fighting but I suppose they have to cover it for other people besides me!

Its actually worth a listen even if you have no interest in hurling. Davy would fall out with his own shadow. Sounds like his book is like Father Teds golden cleric speech full of score-settling

    lol

I do love hurling - but Davy Fitz's voice and his verbal ticks go through me like a dose of salts..

I don't think I could subject myself to it

Not a fan of his but found it interesting, didnt relise he'd fallen out with so many former teammates. Sounded like a complete oddball

Brilliant interview with Davy. Second Captains at their best. Great mixture of questions

Yeah I enjoyed the interview with Davy, he's an interesting character.

Interesting that Ken was being a bit defensive about the Hearts fans antics after he spent the last few weeks tearing into GAA fans, good that Eoin pulled him up on it.

I think he ment you can't be surprised when you get a reaction after provoking people, especially in a highly charged situation like that.

Because it happened at a football match Ken was more inclined to defend it, if the same thing happened at a GAA match he'd be 'Oh those savages at it again'

    Stick fighting?

    And he'd be right

Soccer fans in general are animals in comparison, especially British ones so I don't know how he can defend it.

Not even the first time Lennon has been attacked at Hearts. A fan ran on the pitch to give him a belt a few years ago.

Who mentioned amateur soccer games? Handy enough have no fan trouble when there's no fans.

Ken is on with Dave Fanning now, talking about McClean and wearing the poppy.

Exactly for the amount of fans that attend soccer it's very minimal compared to hurling which is a tiny tiny sport that always has fights etc.

Well the amount of fans that attend football games in Ireland is tiny compared to Hurling or Gah. I'm assuming, as is so often the case, that once again Orish football fans are confusing the English Premier League with Irish football.

I have been to dozens of hurling matches this year, both club and county and haven't seen any fan fights whatsoever. And fwiw I've been at a five or six LOI games this year that haven't had any crowd trouble either.

A potential spin-off from their new book slot could be sporting friends of theirs doing audiobook versions of literature classics.

Episode One: Moby Dick read by Oisin McConville.

    "Cawwwwll me Ishmaaaaaal.."

Anyone else having a problem downloading it from the patreon website? The layout of the page is looking different and doesn't seem to give the option to download straight to phone.
