I have felt for a long time that we are running the country to suit the minority concerns while
the majority are put upon and ignored while paying super tax, high vat, high transport costs and medical insurance

Not at all. We have gone too far left away from the middle. Readjustment is required back to middle. We need better use of our taxes and accountability.

Given that the centre has moved a long, long way to the right since, say, 1980 (when Labour was actually a working class party, for instance) and the rich are far, far richer (than the middle class) in Ireland than the rich were in the same year it's an impressive reflection of the brainwashing going on that somebody would declare we need to be more rightwing.

The real story of the election is almost a quarter of the electorate supporting Casey, even after the Taoiseach came out and made an unprecedented statement encouraging people not to vote for him. Many people have had enough of punitive taxation and endless welfare entitlements. There's a clear demand for change.

If that’s the description of the parents then they have no business reading a child and the child should be placed in state care where they have a better opportunity and chance at life

No one here wants to see a kid suffer.
If kids are suffering as a result of a parents failure, they should be taken off the parents and put into care. Maybe try and break the cycle of next fix/delinquency/criminality. Youre right, why should the kids suffer, and the state just shrug, and pick up the tab.
