    Election: Higgins
    Referendum: Yes

I was actually polled by Red C on the way. I've always said I'd never even seen these guys, nevermind have them ask me a question so bit of a slight political nerdy fetish ticked off there.

Interesting to see Casey leading the exit poll on here. Was taking the original poll with a pinch of salt until seeing that. Wonder how that translates to the real world or will Higgins still romp it.

we have a chance to start debates in this country and the cowards shy away from it! Pathetic!

I get the feeling that AH has been recently "left to it" when it comes to these things. The Niall Boylan / Joe Duffy types have driven out people who want serious discussion.

A cursory glance through AH shows strong support for casey. The same lazy glance across any other social media platform and casey doesn't feature in the slightest, it's MDH all the way.

So, it's odd. Is really all I can say.

And yes, I am aware that social media tend to show you what you want to see, so I've tried to balance that out.

Casey #1 Yes to the Blasphemy.

On an aside 2 voters ahead of me asked what the second paper was in aid of and just put them in the ballot box without marking them.

Maybe you need to go back to your twitter safe space with the liberal mob. Ordinary decent people have enough of the PC nonsense.

How recently are we talking here? Because AH opinion polls predicted very accurately the outcome of the SSM referendum, and the Repealthe8th referendum.

People initially wrote off the results as not representative due to boards/AH demographics but they were accurate.

    Turnout is low for a lot of reasons;
    1. MDH has been largely a "guaranteed" winner before the race even started, so people won't bother voting, "what's the point", etc.
    2. People aren't too pushed about the blasphemy thing
    3. It's a bank holiday weekend
    4. Apparently if you're under 25, you're going to be playing Red Dead Redemption 2 instead of leaving the house today.

I mean very recently, 2/3 months. AH has always been a bit of a melting pot, but there seems to be a mass shift towards a right-wing/anti-feminism/anti-liberal narrative since the Summer. In AH specifically. Other forums having discussions on the same topics aren't shifting the same way.

I'm not on twitter but have seen a lot of MDH support on facebook and little to no support for casey (Unfortunately, as a casey voter)

Turnout is always low. It was 56% the last time. The election before that it was only 47%. and a lot of people assume that Michael D will walk it so wont bother to vote.

Why are all the MDH supporters name-calling anyone who doesn't support him? It's an election, not voting for a particular candidate doesn't make one a Niall Boylan / Joe Duffy type, whatever the hell that means. Grow up.

I'm not a big FB user, but I see far more support among my connections for Casey than for MDH.

Twitter? There's a vocal PC mob there, Politics.ie ditto.
PC definitely had gotten a lot of traction online, but you do have to look outside algorithm curated services to see it, if you're not politically inclined in his direction (which I suspect you're not, Seamus).

    Wouldn't ride her into battle.
But that's not the issue at hand. The issue with her is her abject stupidity or blatant denial (I'm not sure which it was) vis a vis her comments on the avg industrial wage.

Could it be deemed a blonde moment :D

The way she battled it out with Higgins as gaeilge was something else

What possible reason could there be for voting No in the Blasphemy referendum? It's a no brainer!

The only reason Ronan Mullen could offer was the cost of the referendum!

Some people just like voting No out of self importance.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,168 ✭✭✭Ursus Horribilis

    Yes in the referendum

Peter Casey No. 1 in the other one. I'm sure MDH will get in but Casey is my protest vote.

Imagine RTE and the Irish Times - it'll be Trump all over again, the world will be ending at any moment.
