    Oh for gods sake.

Yes, he is too old. I still think I'll vote for him because I don't want a Dragon to be president. But he was nearly too old for such a high public profile job last time out. I don't know if he can make it full term and still perform his duties to the state at an adequate level.

Wasn't Dev 90-something when he was president? No one had objections back then...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

The Peter Casey thing is a massive distraction from the real issue of the presidential election.

For someone who has had a long time and perhaps too long in the public service , what is Michael D's motivation to keep going.

He has multiple pensions , homes , wealth.

There is doubt if he will make the full term.

He said he would go once. He looks frail to be honest.

It is all a bit selfish - you had your time , you have earned your money , sorry it is time to move on.

Sadly you have to accept, you'd take a dead Micheal D versus a dragon.

What is a dragon at the end of the day - a person who gets a company at a ridiculous equity and abuses power of a tv show. (no thanks)

I really get the impression he just enjoys public service, he’s obviously naturally talented at it, his distinguished career is evidence of it.

I voted for him last time round, he’s performed flawlessly. He will get my vote again and I look forward to another seven years of having our country represented by a proper professional statesman.

He was 84 when he was elected for his second term (77 for the first). And until relatively recently he that was a world record for oldest elected head of state.

I think his sight was failing him towards the end.

With all the perks that go with the job/role one term per person should apply..very selfish..should be happy to have had the honor of representing Ireland but should now be happy to allow someone else a chance to take the role..as of his current age from here onwards he will be like an old car unreliable at best. Non viable repairs needed regularly and high emissions

    Too old, why?
He might die? Peoplevdie young too.
If Martin McGuiness was voted as president in the last election, he would have died in office

He used to throw in the ball in All Ireland finals and then helpers had to hurry him off before he got clattered. Was near blind at the end

That’s how you vote now in most Western countries: take out the fascists, the Bolsheviks, the crooks and the clowns, and see what’s left. And what’s left may not feel right (badoom tish)

With the choices now before us I will probably just spoil my ballot, cant vote for Higgins as he is a confirmed liar and is living the high life while spouting socialism, cant vote for Gallagher because he is a total tool, cant vote for Casey because he is a siht stirring neo nazi, cant vote for Freeman as she is too conservative catholic right wing for me and as for the others....who are they again???

Wonder would anyone put on 50 grand on Higgins to win €1000? Would they bother?

i was talking to a big gambler last week and he reckons higgins is too risky to back, for health reasons (age) and because the DRAGONS are going to annihalate him in the debate tonight, if he shows up

What's with these weird little videos about Michael D appearing on Casey's twitter?

    https://twitter.com/CaseyPeterJ/status/1054271429401890816
And the American lad narrating them.
Is he just trying to tap into the American reality tv politics MIGA feel of his supporter base, with their parroting talk of liberals, snowflakes, NPCs and silent majorities? Or could it be possible that he has received support in his campaign from American interests?

I'd say Trump would much rather sit down with Casey than Higgins, and you'd have to wonder if the cancellation of his planned trip here might have been done with that possibility in mind.

He is probably over analysing it.

Where was Sean Gallagher for the last 7 years?

Michael D. is a proper statesman. I’d look at his age as a positive, plenty of experience. He’d run rings around a lot of people here.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,070 ✭✭✭Franz Von Peppercorn

That’s not a huge age these days really. He can resign if there are any issues.

Gallagher was at home hiding under the bed counting his easy money from RT He is so stupid he thought he could wait back then appear out as the “man who was wronged” the last time out and expect people to be fawning over him.

He’s a fool with no inclination for public service, just self service.

The rest of us have to retire before 70. I don't see why he should be treated any differently.

Surely it’s up to him to decide whether he’s able or not? Yes he’s pushing on but if he feels he can go another term then more power to him I say.

He’s a wonderful president and statesman and he has my vote.
