Really? You honestly think people are too frightened to complain about travellers in Ireland?

Because it seems to me like there's no fear whatsoever in people whinging about travellers, particularly here.

    Yes

Sean Gallagher has been clear that he believes anything can happen in the final week of campaign, almost with a wry smile.
Is he plotting something this week, to dent Higgins' campaign?

If he does something, then as I see it, almost like greyhounds tumbling into each other at the last bend, could Peter Casey emerge from the scuffle to win the race?

Those figures are....FRIGHTENING ,and I'm hoping that the past 5 years may have reversed of slowed this trend..?

    I remain an optimist ....:)

    I've bad news for you.

    https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Annual-SWS-Statistical-Information-Report.aspx

Numbers on DA continue to rise.

"The number of recipients of Disability Allowance rose by 7,726, with
133,929 recipients in 2017. Expenditure was almost €1.5 billion in 2017,
    an increase of 8.2%."

Expenditure on Carer’s Allowance increased by over €75 million, or
11.6% in 2017; there are now 75,264 recipients of the scheme.
Well I'm personally delighted I'm not getting disability allowance, or need a carers allowance.
The vast majority of people getting those allowances and benefits are entitled to them and more importantly depend on them. Some people are cheating the system for sure, but that happens in all walks of life, from tax fraud to corruption.

Special ones being discussed now on Matt Cooper. Something about a 'mother' driving her kids around and robbing houses.
    Cuture I spose.

Which bit of 'there are issues with the travelling community' are you having a problem with.

If somebody is littering or flouting laws then the Gardai and the government agencies need to deal with it.
They won't because they know joe public will ring Liveline or rant on FB before it dawns on them to vote them out.

Hmmmm ………bit of a long winded way to solve a problem which should not exist.

Vote them out…………… even by your standards Francie, that’s a bit of a reach.

The lifers and pencil lickers are not doing what the taxpayers are paying them for- aaah we’ll vote the Govt. out!!

Jeez, leg must be at you Francie if you think anyone buys that bullsdust.:D

So we hand it over to a man who has spent 2/3's of his life living in other countries, likely hasn't paid tax here in decades and has zero experience for the position as well. But you think should we should vote for him simply because you agree with him on this ONE topic that he ultimately has no power over or ability to do anything about.

I weep for the irish electorate and the future of the country if people are as deluded about how the world works as you are. And by that I don't mean how politics or the "elite" operate, i'm talking about how you've been fooled into believing casey will represent you in anyway whatsoever and won't just immediately start looking to make as much as he can out of the position.

Casey is just as much of a scumbag as cash, he would screw the country over in a second if it benefited his pocket, the only difference is he wears a suit doing it and legitimises it by calling it "business"

Casey's a pretty poor if not a completely awful candidate in a lot of ways, and you're right about a lot of this.

    But. Here's the thing.

A Casey upswing will drive a lot of the leading politicians/journalist/NPCs nuts, and will represent a leader figure, out there who spoke the truth about this one thing, not a hypocrite, socialist sponger who lied about the LearJet on TV so that he can sponge off the Irish population for seven more years. More people will at the very least, be encouraged by this and will respond to this in a positive manner, as is happening right now.

We especially need this, because truth be told, Ireland is in a state of decline right now, and people need to call out what is going on for what it is.

Only then can we fix it.

I disagree about anything positive being achievable from this and while I agree with some of what Casey has said he's running an entirely negative campaign which I do not believe anything positive can come from.

People corresponding to negative campaigning like this is not a positive and can only lead in a bad direction.

No Francie, just getting folk to actually do what they are paid to do, without resorting to enquiries, investigations, tribunals and stuff.

How simple is that concept, do what you are paid to do.:D

And Casey is gonna get that done? I don't think so.

At the end of the day the ranters and ravers have to get out and vote in an election that matters to such issues.

For this one we need a well rounded, humane, secular, culturally connected, public servant.
We don't need someone who incites the mob when he needs to be noticed, former bagmen or egotists.

How is Ireland in a state of decline right now. There are issues and problems like every country but overall I think we're doing ok.
We certainly don't need the likes of Casey spouting bile. That was what Farage did in Britain and as soon as he got his way he disappeared. That kind of bigoted politics has never taken hold in Ireland in the past and it won't now.

No poll due until tomorrow --- which was decided before Casey's speech to masses.

He will get the uneducated vote only, never a chance to win or even compete, but he's got publicity which is all he wanted, bang for his buck in terms of campaign spend.

Great odds. I don't understand betting but that means if you put 20e on at 250/1 you lose 20e? ;)
