Silly Q, presumably you have HDMI CEC enabled on both the TV and the box?

Not a silly questions at all.

I will check that out tomorrow, although I would have expected so. It's a 5-year old LG 42", and although this is almost certainly an apples and oranges situation, the volume behaviour with the Sky box was exactly what I wanted in that the volume and mute buttons on the Sky remote controlled the volume on the TV.

It's called Simplink on an LG TV

Just wondering has anyone any issues with the box randomly throwing up a blue screen with lots of text on it and then shutting down and rebooting?
Happens every now and again, maybe 2/3 times a week?

Nope, I've never had a single crash. What image are you running both Openatv and OpenVix are rock solid for this box. Your not running the sky skin by any chance?

Received my Tiviar very promptly yesterday in the post and up and running in no-time thanks to THHB's image.
No documentation received however so can someone please tell me how to login to the box. When I try to use Webif it requests a username and password , neither of which I have!

    Username: root
    Password: tempass

Yeah I set that password before backing up my image as I had my own personal password set, normally Openatv is username root with no password

So, I have the box, I've read whole thread, (need to read again), Crossepg, does it go on USB with Picon folder or on HDD? Both ways are mentioned.

    Either, it doesn't matter

Hi, I'm back unfortunately with blue screen, got your image on no bother, picons are working on USB I initalized with the box no bother, went in through settings to put cross on USB and happy days it found it and knows it's a usb (POS Amiko couldn't do that) hit download and blue screen, died another bit inside. Tried again and got "Crossepg error" timeout for tuner lock"

    Any ideas?

Tuner lock means the tuner is not working or in use. It uses the second satellite tuner, are you sure both feeds are working. Swap them

Yeah, its too quick to read..
    Might try and reflash

    Thanks

Success, faulty connector in Attic! Dunno what happened.

Now need to get all channels into favourites and done. Not obvious how the flip to do that but I know I read it earlier so will read back. My internet is pretty awful so kind of need to do everything manually with box, I used https://www.ext2fsd.com/ to put picons on usb after the box formatted it to ext.

Some channels in the bouquets are blank/no reception, was autobouqetsmaker meant to re find them, or do I rescan, again I need to reread.

Hi, I got a few of those crashes with that image, too. However,I did a fair bit of messing around with settings and plugins, so I’ll never know the root cause.

I flashed a new image based on OpenATV 6.2 and it was stable until yesterday. (I also installed all updates available via software manager.) I got my first crash on 6.2 immediately after installing CrossEPG. It has been fine, since, touch wood.

I work in a fairly specialised industry and find that sometimes a lot of terms I use everyday are are totally bewildering to people that do not know them so I know why i am finding difficuly in doing what I wAnt to do and not knowing what I can and cant do ON THE BOX.

So got a nice shiny new Tiviar Alpha Plus with 1TB hd and a nice USB Wifi Dongle Enima 2 and Open Atv then the fun began,

Connected up, chose langauge, screen etc etc.. all ok.. had to skip the auto set up as just kept going around in circles, set up the wifi dongle all good, found software update and did that.. saved image and setting.

Set up tuners, Tried to auto load sats, no joy, so manually loaded - took forever - then loaded 3200 stations, most of which were european and blank, so looked closer and seen I could set the selection for ireland so manually loaded them... ahh noW I had something I could see. BTW WTF is a Bouquet... I mean really.. so know I have 4000 odd stations , but can see most on the "last scanned line"... so theN loaded the terrestial ones,, eventually now 4200 stations.. or so..

Then screen was not correct, need to shrink it slightly... when to the OSD area I think found the section with the arrows.. and tried to slightly shrink the screen. Remote is very small for clumsey fat fingers so ended up ( only found this out waaaaaay later ) that I had se the tranparancey to 2....... so now all my controls have disappered and are barely visible very feintly in the background so have to use the Box led and my memory ( no manual ) to try to trouble shoot.

So eventually I am back up and running, have wifi , 4000 stations of which I only want 100..

I can plough through all the menu item guessing but that is SO time consuming.. so if I could ask is there a simple way to

    A) Reset to default - but keep WIFI setup.

    B) delete all the stations I do not want quickly, including all subscription services that I don't need.

    C) Size the screen so I can see it all @ 1080

    D) What is a Bouquet

    E) is there a comprehensive OpenATV / Enigma manual in English that can be downloaded

Have say - had it worked it would have been great but the SAB triple tuner I tried loaded all stations perfectly immediatly.... unfortunetly would not load WIFI.. coUld not mount USB external drive and it would not timelapse / pause.. which was a pity as it was very user friendly unlike the Tivier so far. .......

What would be great is find someone has the prefect set up and just clone it onto my HD...

    Just want it to work.................

I picked up one of these today on HHB's advice. I got it from satworld on the Naas Road and he flashed it for me then and there with OpenATV 6.0.0.

I got home this afternoon, connected up dish and antanna, HDMI and ethernet. Everything working fine. I then set about getting it to work with PlexDVR. It was easier than I thought. Ther eis a good tutorial here: https://us.v-cdn.net/6025034/uploads/editor/et/9d4acbdu6kug.pdf

The hardest thing was to match the channel names against the Plex EPG. Once I realised thta the channel numbers were the same it was easy. It's now up and running as IPTV in less than an hour, and I don't have to worry about running sat cables all over the house (as I previousy ran Cat6!)

The box will run headless in my office and the bonus is that Plex can stream to my phone outside the house.

Oh that looks excellent - I dont suppose he gave you a copy of the Flash drives - I rang them 4 times no answer , left messages, no call back, otherwise would have purchased there.

Right because you can't use my image which has all the hard work done for you, you going to need to tidy up those channels and bouquets. Bouquets are groups of channels. Autobouquetmaker has the option to hide all other bouquets but I would start by running a manual scan for the full satellite 28.2 with clear before scan enabled. I'm not in front of the box now so I cant be more specific. Have a play

He didn’t. I may ask him for a copy, but HHBs image should be good to go.

I called them Monday to check stock levels and he answered straight away. They do close at 4:30.

Can he not just start from scratch and use your image, would be a lot simpler.
And if Eddie says what channels etc he wants we can guide him further. And of course is it with a static dish or more than one satellite?

That image you did is brill. And any questions he may have you will know the answer. That wi fi is easy peasy as box recognises the usb.

He can't use my image as he has only wifi, no ethernet, so not able to download the driver for the wireless dongle if he flashes it

Eddie, you could always bring the box elsewhere and plug in for the process

I used your image and it worked great.. didnt get the Picons sorted yet... but have a managable number of channels.. the Saorview did not work so I changed it to Dublin and manually loaded it and it is fine... I set up the WIFI no probs - so kudos - much appreciated. Still playing around and have a few issues but more from inexperience than issues with the equipment.

    A) I have subs on some programs and cant seem to get rid of them

    B) Media player has no sound from USB

    C) I have 2 recording on at the minute and pause TV, so that is excellent/

After loading your IMage it is a lot slicker.

One thing I would love to have - not sure how feasible but in my favs I would like all the saorview followed by the Free to Air all in the same location so I can epg them and just use the volume like channel next selector and aslo NOT have any duplications or radio stations.

So is that a very manual add / remove / sort to Favs or am I looking at making a special bouquet, or it it not possible..?

Still on the "high Horse" image - So playing around looking for how to switch subtitles off and remove that annoying voiceover ( both unsuccessful) I rebooted and when I did the GUI ( is this the "skins" ) changed to the attached - WTF is going on here?

Not that I dont like it - still undecided...

Press yellow and change from narritive English.

Menu -> audio -> auto language selection ->set your audio language selection 1 to English and prefer audio track stored by service to yes

Blue -> system -> skin setup -> select metrixHD

    Reboot

Watching a recording yesterday and the picture froze, the the box crashed and rebooted itself.
    Watching channels is fine.
If I try anything to do with the hard drive the box crashes and reboots itself.

Looks like the hard drive has died.
At least I hope thats all it is.
    Its 3 months old.

I bought it with the hard drive from wos.
Anybody else have issues like this and if so did you have to send the whole lot back or just the drive?
