Heard Greystones and Navan pulled out of Prem 1 qualifiers

Terenure and Barnhall qualified for Prem 1.

  • Registered Users Posts: 370 ✭✭Leinster5

Barnhall and Terenure into Prem 1.

Belvo vs Mary's will be close, a 50/50 toss up. Rock vs Wesley will be competitive but from what I heard Rock's pack is huge.

    Rest pretty much picks itself.

Were UCD and Clontarf were already qualified?

Dont think theyve played yet in qualifiers but look on leinster website.

They were the other teams in the groups that Navan and Greystones dropped out of along with Terenure and Barnhall is why I was asking

Very safe to assume they'll qualify automatically as simply too awkward to do anything else and they will play each other for game time before league starts

UCD and Trinity are playing each other this week.

So assume likes of Terenure, Barnhall, Tarf and Lansdowne doing something similar.

I think Navan and Greystones have pulled out proper so it means others are automatically in.

It was actually Lansdowne not UCD but all 4 teams, Lansdowne, Barnhall, Clontarf and Terenure have qualified automatically

6 Nations games to be played in Musgrave this season.
Great to see games out of Dublin.

Why it's the capital city and is the most accessible place in the country so everyone from around the country can get there with ease. Not so at Musgrave Park. I'd also argue that people from Dublin tend to be more nationalistic than the country bumpkins.

Your last sentence is so wrong its laughable.
And because it means not every single international of any kind is played in the capital.
The aviva deal means no senior internationals played outside Dublin bar an odd uncapped/Ireland XV game. No womens games. Virtually all u18/19 games played in Dublin.
And Cork is still very accessible. Public transport to there is good. Its not like its a game in a small town..

More people involved in the rising come from Dublin therefore national feelings of patriotism tend to be higher in Dublin. Look at Hill 16 for Dublin matches - unlike any bumpkin support with grannys and children coming to support their older brothers cousins etc. These are nationalists there to free the country from tyranny. Cork is less accessible to people from the north than dublin is and probably easier to get from most places in Connacht to Dublin than to Cork.

Just re that bit there is no deal that means the games have to be played at Lansdowne Road it's simply just the only stadium that can fit most games and can generate the most revenue

Yes there is. Then why have any full senior games, few and far between, since aviva opened been Irish XVs and not full test games?

You know why Cork is called the "Rebel County" right?

I'm really not sure at this stage if your are serious with this stuff or just trolling, but it is quite tiresome.

Because full test games get crowds too big for any other stadium, even games against Georgia get 40k+

I know Leinster have a fairly strong crop for this years u20's, Ulster aren't great but have two or three very talented guys (that are injured, unfortunately). I never get to see Munster or Connacht play - anyone know the standouts for them, or guys likely to go to the JWC?

Stronger than average for both with two standouts being:

    Niall Murray(Connacht/Lock-Blindside)
    Sean French(Munster/Centre)

    French especially could be special.

In fact it's a pretty strong Munster u20 group, probably their best this decade:

    1. Josh Whycherly(Bantry Bay/Roscrea/Young Munster)
    2. Billy Scannell(PBC Cork)
    3. Luke Masters(CBC Cork)
    4. Thomas Ahern(Waterpark) - u19
    5. Paddy Kelly(St. Munchins) - u19
    6. Colin Deane(Bandon)
    7. John Hodnett(Clonakilty/UCC)
    8. Luke Clohessy(Ardscoil)
    9. Craig Casey(Ardscoil)
    10. Ben Healy(Glenstal)
    11. Ikem Ugwueru(Ennis/Shannon)
    12. Jake Flannery(Rockwell)
    13. Sean French(PBC Cork)
    14. Conor Phillips(Crescent)
    15. Jonathan Wren(PBC Cork)

    Blackrock 29 Wesley 24

    Belvo 32 Mary's 18

Barnhall and Navan played each other in a friendly. Barnhall won 65-7

Essentially Prem 2 for Wesley and Marys
