They could have taken the orange warning down to update it.

Yup, Galway and Mayo on yellow from 8pm to 10pm this evening. Fairly windy here now in Galway, nothing major though. They've issued a yellow for Ireland for tomorrow, from 5am to 5pm, which to me implies it's the only warning,, but seems bizzare as all forecasts point to a strong orange level in many areas. Suppose we've to wait and see.

The wind is pulling hard here at this minute in Galway.constant heavy pull.gonna be a lot of branches knocked if it stays going

Much the same out here on the West mayo coast/offshore island. Which is why there are no trees worthy of the name.. big bushes in a few places. weary of the noise of it

Que panic stations at the ploughing as they have added Offaly into the orange warning.

Storm Ali will track close to the west and northwest coast from the early hours of Wednesday morning. South to southwest winds veering westerly will increase to mean speeds between 65 and 80 km/h with gusts between 110 and 120 km/h for a time. The core of strong winds will be along Atlantic Coasts at first and will then move quickly eastwards during the morning.

Why the hell do they take the previous warning down while they're putting the new one up? I looked at the site a minute ago and the orange was gone, with just nationwide yellow. Was about to say that's grand but just happened to look here to see you had said it's back up. It takes one second to update a sight so a running switch should be easy.

Orange warning is there for all the counties previously and a couple more I think.

Defintely not just a marine warning. Updated at 16.00

    I agree with you,
I thought the new met earann site would do away with having to take down warnings just to update them

Would argue about Dublin being in the orange or even yellow zone given the winds will be westerly for the most part and therefore sheltered to an extent by the Wicklow mountains.

Would the winds not be more southerly as the storm tracks across the country, perhaps the reason for orange warning

still kind of surprised about Cork/Limerick not being in it, but we will see.

Maybe for parts of SE Dublin (suburbs), but a lot of Dublin is exposed to westerly winds and especially the city centre with wind funneling down the Liffey valley.

South to southwest winds veering westerly. Wicklow mountains, south of Dublin, wouldn't give much shelter from a westerly.

Any idea what time this is due to get bad at? I drive from Limerick to Dublin each morning at 3.30am and the back to limerick at 6.30am. Might be fun in a large van..

good plan to look at the met ie site warnings as they state times. even better plan if that looks bad to take the day off.... serious winds are these

I am on high ground exposed to winds from all the various westerly directions, presume it will be orange category here even though it is in the yellow area.
Reminds of Darwin where the colours were changed during the storm and Kilkenny ended up in red.

Hardly going to go red in any large built up area do you think unlike Darwin? Unless some unexpected sting jet.
