    They do get on.

I doubt Ewan takes Ken on GAA any more seriously than Ken does. If Gaelic Football was banned in the morning, would Ken be even the tiniest bit arsed? It's pretty funny the degree to which his focus on sport is so narrow, and he's happy enough to mine that for laughs himself.

I find Ken very entertaining but aside from football he doesn't seem interested in any other sport

I've noticed this too. Kind of bizarre when you think of how much sport Eoin and Ciaran follow. I couldn't imagine just following the drudgery of soccer and nothing else.

It definitely a trait common to alot of football journalists who really don't seem to be into sport other then the soap opera aspect of professional football

Today's pod sounds extremely boring. Gonna skip the Cavanagh interview and just listen to the bits either side of it.

Ciaran Murphy is the supposed expert on GAA and Golf and other US Sports.

Arguably the most important sports story of the year with the US Open and Murphy decides the sit on the fence and not offend anyone.

Sounds like you are getting Irish Murph and US Murph mixed up as one.

They’ll be getting Sharon Horgan mixed up with Mark Horgan next.

Think Ciaran is the GAA expert alright, but golf and US sports. Not really.

Ken on GAA is the new Ken Burley

When Dublin are after playing it makes listening to people talking about Gaelic toleratable.....well just the start and end when Ken is trolling. I just skip the serious chat.

Thought it was a good interview myself. If you've any interest in Gaelic Games I think it'd be worth listening to.

I don't think anyone has a problem with constructive criticism or taking the piss out of the odd podcast that they didn't like. I'm not a GAA fan, but I accept lots of people are and I expect lots of pods I'll have no interest in will come out at this time of year. I think sneering replies to people and constant moaning about literally everything just. But you wouldn't do that, would you? Lets see your last 10 posts in this thread:

Oh dear. A little ray of sunshine, aren't we? Go on, call me a "fanboy". Even though you can check my post history, Idon't like a lot of episodes, but give credit to where credit is due. The irony is, you love to criticise the podcast constantly. But if anyone criticises your posts and disagree with something you say it's you resort to name calling or insults, they're a "fanboy".

You'll have to accept my apology for taking so long to get back to you on this, although I'm sure you've been kept busy going through profile records and posting quotes out of context. I don't really have time to engage in such activity, interesting and important as is it, so I'll have to take you at your word.

For me, this podcast promised a lot and has consistently failed to deliver. Instead of independent cutting edge journalism we have journal.ie and joe.ie.

Ken and Murph seem to have become parodies of themselves, JuniorB stories, amateur psychology and reading instagram posts grow old quickly.

Eoin's interviewing skills amount to little more than an eulogy. He may be a step up from Ger Gilroy, which is probably why I've listened for so long.

Reality is they may have had a jump start on everyone else but there are several alternatives out there now.

Their peak was at the Irish Times. Seemed to have reasonable editorial freedom, not too many podcasts per week and more importantly every new subscriber wasn't worth an extra €5 per month which has been the biggest factor in the dumbing down of the podcast. That and the inability to attract decent contributors which isn't a big surprise.

Good luck to them, I've had the pleasure of their company for probably 10 years but don't even bother listen to most of the podcasts now, especially if I see Sinead O'Caroll, Trump, American Murph, 4chan, Shane Horgan, Sharon Horgan, Simon Horgan, politics, Dublin, Hockey or "Exclusive Interview" in the description.

In the words of Cosmo Kramer, I'm OUT!

P.S. You are the ultimate fanboy. May Cienciano, Eoin, Ken and Murph surf the wave of patreon subscribers deep into the Average Ocean. At least three of you will be getting well paid to do so.

I hope I am never in a position in my life where I continue to hate something for as long as that lad hated second captains yet inexplicably would not stop listening.

I hope he didn't pass up the chance to deliver the coup-de-gracé of additional feedback. I can't think of anyone who better deserved their moment to truly shine.

Is Cienciano okay? That was very upsetting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,252 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

I think he should refrain from issuing his response until about a fortnight from now, when everyone has forgotten about all of this - it feels like the established style now in this grudge match.

The most bitter of battles are those with the lowest stakes.

I believe they call that a verbal broadside!

Ken got Roy Keane spot on in the shows this week. Keane can't offer constructive criticism, he's just reduced to name calling and not even good ones anymore. He can't admit when he's wrong and he isn't man enough to discuss things, he just runs away. I also agree when Ken said Keane is funny. Maybe unintentionally, but he's still funny.

I think most ireland fans are sick of him tbh, he's embarrassed himself in the ward whatsapp thing.
    :pac:

    "It's also what ketchup symbolises"

    -Jonathan Wilson

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,355 ✭✭✭buyer95

I actually could not believe my ears listening to Jonathan Wilson this evening. He went off on multiple diet related tangents with one being ridiculous as the next. Ken pulled him on the first (Lewandowski eating his dessert before his dinner) telling him that he had told that one before but Wilson undeterred told it again. He then tried to say how he is constantly blown away by players eating the likes of KFC. Ken called him on this and asked for a specific example. Wilson then gave the frankly ridiculous example of the English cricket team, a sport which quite obviously does not have the same physical demands as football. Then finally after they had moved passed the whole diet thing he jumped in again at the mention of Rio Ferdinand " ah yes I have it now, I remember Rio saying before about how Moyes band chips." Vapidness doesn't even begin to describe it. Jesus

    Exactly

I struggle to comprehend how someone can have such a fiery hate for a podcast that you have to go out of your way to listen to. It's not like it's pumped into your brain unwillingly once a day. Anyways he's gone now and hope he's OK xxx
