Very bad way for Cora to end what has been an outstanding contribution to inter county football. Doubt there will ever be anyone who’s able to contribute the same length of service as a player as she has.

And she'll be remembered for this sh1te.

It’s to encourage as many people attend the All Ireland Final as possible. When clubs affiliate they get free tickets to finals. They cancel insurance for the Sat and Sun.
One of the umpires at Croke Park will be the Mayo LGFA Secretary.

That’s the worst part about the whole thing.

I agree. I'm not trying to make excuses for anyone. I just think it's a shame how quick some posters on here are with the personal insults etc. I am pretty sure there is more to this story.

I think its pretty clear what transpired.

Pass the ball to Cora had become ingrained in the team. When she was then marked by 2 or 3 players we didn't have a hope.

Her documentary now on TG4. You can see the obsessed competitiveness. It is so strong that it may be to the detriment of other aspects of being part of the team like comraderie and people skills. That's just the reality.

Ive recorded it, will give it a look later. Interested to see the Aussie football side of it.

Thought it painted Cora in a much more humane and sympathetic light.

Her backstory in terms of family, personal ambitions outside of sport.

She seemed to buy into the team dynamic with the Sydney Giants but was equally frustrated by her inability to shine as an individual like in gaelic football.

To be fair to all and in my eyes Cora should only be judged on what she has done one the pitch . 99 percent of all comments and posts made are from people who know nothing else other than what’s thers have told . It pales into insignificance as to what she has done since a child playing for the senior Mayo team .
She has played and given her all to her county and for the love of football and all for not one cent . Let this chapter be closed for her and all our sake .

    I completely agree
I haven’t read majority of posts on the matter Cos quite frankly I don’t really have a lot of interest in ladies football and I’m not going to pretend I do now !
But Cora is without a doubt one of the best ever and has given a lot of service to her County no matter how it ended

What Cora has done has impacted on Mayo football so does deserve to be commented on.

    Commented on and discussed fine.

But she will go down as one of the best, if not the best, female Gaelic footballer of all time.

That's what she will be remembered for.

I don't know why you feel the need to troll a Mayo page and mock Coras personality and appearance.

I think "part" of her personality is part and parcel of this whole unfortunate circus. So aspects of it that have been the reason behind her stance merit discussion.

But bringing her looks into the discussion is pig ignorant and pathetic

Some absolutley ridiculous comments in here re: Cora.

The whole saga is helping no one and is just another issue to appear that Mayo gaa could have done without.
On the playing field Cora was simply superb,. Her fitness, will to win and sheer amount of skill was a joy to behold. I've been watching ladies football for a long time and Cora is certainly up there with the best that I've seen.
The documentary was very good. But unfortunately to alot of Mayo folk, that won't matter. It is unfortunate that she has probably finished up now and left a real bitter feeling to a lot of supporters.

After all the joy she has given down the years, I think it's a real pity- but completely undersrandable- that she is now thought about in a different manner than what she could have been.

So what are the thoughts on the next round of the Snr Championship coming up?
Or do many here track it much?

Looking forward to seeing what will happen in the Westport Breaffy game. I cant see much of the bigger names going out, Hollymount V Ballagh will be good match. If kept apart I'd see Cbar, Tubber, Hollymount and then either Westport or Breaffy get to the semi.

Can't see Hollymount doing much myself Yop.... They're not in it! Garrymore vs Ballagh

With all that has gone on around LGFA and Carnacon, this puts it into reality. When we wake in the morning, some of us might never return.

I always thought Jack O Connor`s name being bandied around was no more than smoke tbh, but just a point that struck me. If James Horan is interested in the job will he not have to apply for it, especially if Gilvary or Solan do ?

I could possible see Horan taking it if approached by the board, even after him saying he was presently interested, but with applications and interviews being required, does that not greatly lessen the chances of it being him ?

Don't see how it would tbh, if the executive want him, he'll get it

That`s true, but with him saying he wasn`t interested in the job is it not less likely that he would now be interested if he has to apply and go through an interview process with other applicants ?
I know the executive board may give him the old nod and wink that he would get it, but from what he said when asked if he was interested, I`m not sure he would trust them enough not to embarrass him by not giving it too him if he publicly applied.

More interested in the Knockmore Cross game myself but it looks like a clear run to the final if Westport can beat Breaffy, which I think they will. They’ll play Garrymore in the semi I think, they impressed me against Knockmore

Looks like a ballintubber cbar semi, I don’t think there’s anything to stop Castlebar

On the county job I think Horan is pragmatic enough that he’ll play ball with the process, it’s very interesting that there’s never been a peep from him about the CB, he’s kept his powder dry

    Good article on Westport.

After been there at the weekend with our U8 teams, we have 20 on a very good day, they have 40!, I can see how this is working.

S'alright, Sean Cavanagh and his Moy chums had my head wreaked last year, when they won their All Ireland club title in a Dubs jersey. I'm used to it by now. :P

Just heard some of the mayo women press conference on RTÉ radio

    A whole heap of nothing

“Nobody understands” and then water works.

    Embarrassing to listen to.

Not exactly All Ireland winning traits, they followed Cora over the cliff and now they turn on the waterworks when they realise it's backfired. Carnacon should be sponsored by kleenex.
