But to be honest, storage is so cheap now, people should be looking at (by now) either these or the equivalents of sabnzbd, couchpotato etc..

Just FYI, I sent back my Shield which had gotten into a loop after the update last Friday (NVIDIA sent a FedEx collection voucher so they collected FOC from my house) and they have already shipped my replacement Shield back with an ETA of lunchtime Thursday.

Pretty impressive support.

Hi all

Quick one. I bought Nvidia Shield last month and I have a sub to Eleven Sports. Today I was able to cast this to the shield but I believe that was because I was set up under 2.4ghz for the Chromecast to work. Is this true? Since its moved to 5ghz I cant seem to cast from laptop anymore. Any idea how I can fix this? Id rather keep Nvidia on 5gz as it sems to stream better, is there any quick flick rather than having to go into Virgin Media homepage and edit it?

ANy help is appreciated.

The UK version isnt available on Android TV, tried to download the APK and it crashes on load so not an option, thanks though

So fixed it, uninstalled Chromecast updates on shield and its working again. Strange

You can download an app called sideload launcher from the app store which will make it easier to access.

I’ve disabled all volume controls on the shield, even so depending on the source its all over the place.
And for apps that won’t play just glad there’s cast.

Shouldn't be all over the gaff,need to go into sound settings and mooch about,has to be something on YouTube

I wouldn't use it on my phone but some of the recommendations on the dashboard of the Shield have kept me entertained for longer than I'd like to admit!

Got my shield yesterday and have it setup and loving it but takes a bit of getting used too in some aspects.

One problem I am having is trying to expand the memory I have a 63gb sandisk usb 2.0 and a 32gb sandisk 3.0 and both ain't that old but when I go to format them it says they are slow..... ignoring that I format them and it works ok but then after a while the shield can't find them I've tried using them with an extension and still same problem?

Long term I'll probably get an ssd hdd in the near future just wondering is there any short term solution to it?

You need one with very fast read and write speeds.
There's a specific list of nvidia recommended disks/drives here;

Yeah have tried a usb 3 on an extension buy I'll try get a recommended one and see where it goes from there might just get a portable ssd in a few weeks.

Anyone know if its possible to get a shortcut to a specific youtube video on the home screen? The Sky News live-stream ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOacA3RYrXk ) is a handy one to throw on in the background but its a pain having open the youtube app and search for it each time.

The easiest way I can see is to subscribe to the channel and then it will come up on your youtube subscription feed on your Youtube app feed on the home screen
