What was happening on the Castle green today? Coastguard digging or doing something?

Just saw great thread ! Such a pity so many photographs have been removed - especially on ‘Aero’s thread posts - earlier in thread! They would have been so good to see - we all have great memories of Ballybunion- Aero is son of JJ OCarrolls - they had grocery shop & still have Marconi caravan park. Due to I’ll health, can’t go online much - today ok & photos are precious.
    Well Done Y’all!

Ballybunion Coast Guard regularly train on top of the Castle Green. They are a cliff-rescue unit. I guess you saw them driving anchor stakes for their ropes. It might have looked like digging...

Just fyi, Ireland has a "Coast Guard" (two words - like the American coast guard). Her Majesty in UK has a "Coastguard" ...

I hope there will be a little bit of sunshine for me there next week.

Or at least a break in the rain.

Want to meet for coffee, Snow?

Aw, hell, Rider, I forgot I even posted the above. If I had remembered I would have happily said yes and grabbed the opportunity to put a face together with your name.

I'm already back home in the Bronx. I was in Ballybunion for only four days and relatives and family friends kept me so busy I didn't get a chance to do any of the things I always do when I'm over there: I didn't get a chance to go down to the caves, walk the beach, do the Cliff Walk, or go up to the top of Knockanore.

I wanted to do the Bromore Cliffs walk as well, but ... no time for that either.

But I left with orders to come back soon. We'll get together next trip.

And with all my worries about the weather it was basically four dry days when I was over - save for the occasional quick shower.

Multi agency search for windsurfer yesterday. And the man found safe and well in Clare! Must have been unable or unwilling to turn back in rough conditions, and kept going. Some feat! Great result last night ..... Delighted for the guy.

Kitesurfer found in Clare after being reported missing off Kerry coast http://jrnl.ie/4334518

Turns out he was / is a wind-surfer (your 2nd pic) and very experienced.

He did not round Loop Head and land in Kilkee, as many media are reporting. He crossed the Shannon (10 miles, and in the dark) and landed in townsland of Kilkee , which extends to southern shore of Clare.

Hes a nice guy, and we are all delighted here that hes safe & well.

Told a great story on Lare Late ladt Fri!!

Rider, the Late Late show from 16 November?

Rider, the Late Late show from 16 November?

Yup. Thats the one. He was on first thing, if you find the show on a viewer.

Pretty cold & wintery here. Biting breeze today, but msnaged to get in s long walk on beach today, as tide was out at my walk time. Plenty of locals there too.

Did ya see the newsletter? Theatre is in trouble again. But there seems to be a plan to save it. Also, Tommy Tiernan is coming 8th Dec. Should be good!

    Thanks, Thanatosgratus.

I had given up hope with RTE Player and their hatred of AdBlocker.

I just saw it now. I was in Cahill's 2-3 times in September, I might have walked right past him.

I've never been inside the Theatre. I've seen photos. Looks like a nice place.
