A third of a million views. Not bad for a village of 1300 people.

Is it a village or a town? I assumed it was a town for some reason.

My grandmother and uncles always referred to it as "the village."

Near the end, there's a rare sight: the view while walking around the Nun's Strand

This brings back happy memories of holidays in Ballybunion as a child. I would say it was more like a town during the summer but became more of a village in winter time when the holidaymakers returned home. Many families came to stay there for the whole summer and the weather seemed pretty good for the most part.

Hi, we're thinking of renting a holiday home in Ballybunion for a week in late August,2 kids aged 4 and 2. Whats it like now?Is it still rough,as mentioned at start of this thread? Is there enough to keep our 2 busy?I hear there's a pool which is good and a decent playground.Anything else for young kids?
Or would we be better staying in Listowel or Tralee and travel to Ballybunion?

Playground and pool both look fine. Is there other things to occupy young kids like an indoor play area? Is Ballybunion nice during August? Or should we base ourselves somewhere else and just do day trips to ballybunion and Banna?

My advice would be to stay in ballyb and if weather not suitable for beach ,it is not much with a half hour drive to tralee where kids have peladium and monkey paradise for play indoors ,aquadome suitable for another day(expensive) ,Dingle aquarium another day .I think there is crazy golf in ballyb so you could also have this as a back up also for a few hours as well as the swimming pool. KIds will get super value out of beach if staying in ballyb and the weather answers

Thanks for that. Maybe would we be better stay closer to Tralee? Then go to ballybunion for day trips? Would ballyheigue be a good option?

Trump is the most obnoxious, unstable and dangerous man to ever occupy the office of president of the USA. We simply cannot allow this proposed tribute to take place on the 20th of January (this Friday).

The Cliffs of Dooneen is about Ballybunion, right?

    Hi,

Does anyone know of anyone selling a holiday home in Ballybunion.

Typical places of interest are the Brambles, Ballybunion holiday cottages, seaside cottages or will consider most other alternatives.

Looking for quite a while now on Daft, but nothing is coming up.

    Many Thanks.

The Cliffs of Dooneen are about 4 miles north of Ballybunion in the townland of Beale Hill I think.

    Decent wiki article:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliffs_of_Dooneen

Lots of people mistakenly think it's a Clare song as it references the two towns across in Clare.
