    So, to get back Off-Topic or so to say :P

    I'm looking for suggestions on where to take wifey for a weekend away in November. Needs to be in Ireland, only planning on two days so flying not really an option.

    Was thinking somewhere like Lahinch, but it's ruddy November :(

    Might just book into somewhere in Galway, it's a pretty neat place and she hasn't been there.

    That G hotel is supposed to be nice.

    What kind of things do you like to do on getaway breaks (ohmatron.jpg)?

    :pac::pac:

    Shopping for her, relaxing for me in the day. Usually with a couple of pints. Not really into the outdoorsy stuff some folks like.

    Nice meal in the evenings and that keeps everyone happy.

    (Tbh, I'd prefer to be into the outdoorsy stuff, would cost me less money :pac:)

    Galway is a good bet for that description imo.

    Will be windy and cold and stuff at that time of year, though.

    Come down to Dublin sure and bring her to a FG beers :D

    Come to Dun Laoghaire. We have a Pier. Two in fact. We also have more ice cream places than we know what to do with. This time of year the sea breeze will strip the face clean off your skull.

    Come to Belfast! Tons of shappin for your lady, tons of cool bars for you. And you can do the black taxi tours to learn about how people tried to kill each other. I hear it's very interesting. And the Titanic museum is pretty cool (bit expensive though). Our Christmas market is open from mid November too so that's an added bonus. And the exchange rate is brilliant for Euros at the moment. I know this because I get raped on the ****ing exchange every time I go down home.

    And you get a bonus in the form of showing your lady that not all people on the internet are weird and crazy if you want to meet up for a pint with me and Mr Molly. :)

    Just booked actually, heading the 16th/17th of November. Hopefully Christmas markets will be open at that time :D

    :pac: Belfast is on our list but she wants to do the Giants Causeway and all that Northern stuff so we're planning that trip for next summer :)

    There is an indoor skydiving centre down the road from the Titanic place as well.

    You also don't have the flu. If you did you'd be too weak to be on a computer. You have a cold. No cure for the cold, just wait it out and treat the symptoms. Plenty of fluids, good diet, plentiful supply of tissues, plenty of sleep. Hot whiskey or Lemsip or something if you really fancy it too.

    Friendly neighbourhood reminder - its the time of year for the auld flu vaccine (if you’re that way inclined). I get it every year because I have asthma and I have had the flu and ended up in a very bad way.

    ————

    @Necro: I would agree with Galway to fulfill those requirements. The G hotel is nice, as is the Radisson. Galway’s a fab city.
    I stayed in the Hodson Bay in June and it was lovely but not a lot to do. It’s in Athlone though, not Galway.

    @Molly: Sorry about Primark :(

    Molly have you heard of Revolut? Its a phone linked bank account, really good exchange rates.

    If you're regularly up and down then buying €€€ when the pound is strong and sitting on them until you're down south might be a way to do it.

    Otherwise just transfer between the currencies, its a good rate, £1 - €1.12 which is pretty decent

    Spot on

    I was thought I had the flu when I actually had a cold. A real flu is the worst, night terrors, fever, aches so bad you cant move..... hell

    I don't even care about the Primark bit coz I never really went in there too much if I could avoid it but it was a really gorgeous building and right in the heart of the city centre too. It's rightly bolloxed up the shops around it and the retail core is suffering really badly because there's no through road now. One of the shops that is closed is apparently losing up to £1million a week in lost revenue. Everyone is giving out that they should just take down the building and get everything reopened but with the state it's been left in it's incredibly dangerous and taking it down would be a very slow process. Not to mention that it's listed and needs approval from the Heritage people before they can move to do anything to it. It's so upsetting.

    I actually have Revolut and it is a lifesaver. But I remember the good old days before Brexit when I would've been getting €1.30 - €1.40 for my pound. The pound is never that strong anymore and I really feel the difference when I go down. :(

    Not having a functioning government must be slowing things up as well.

    Apparently the City Council have had to go straight to Teresa May's cabinet to beg for relief funds because Stormont are a useless pack of **** who can't get their fingers out of their holes long enough to let their heads deflate.

    Had that recently. Would agree the actual flu is horrifying, took me out of action for an entire week back in July. First three days all I could do was lie in bed thinking I was dying.

    *Sighs* Anyone know where I could find a back casing for a Hyundai i30 driver's side wing mirror? Went out to the car during my lunch yesterday to find some rat backstard had clipped it. Fixed the rest thankfully and got it clipped back in place but the back casing is smashed to bits :(

    No cameras in that part of the car park either... never usually park there only when it's the afternoon shift and my regular parking spots are all taken.

    depending on if you want it new or secondhand, motorfactors for new, scrapyards for secondhand, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty dismantling it off a rear ended write off. If you don't want to remove it from a scrappy yourself, then a dismantlers, like duffys sell the second hand part pre dismantled, but at a much higher cost. you could always try ebay too.
