Been thinking of this a while and seeing the posts this morning!

So many of us have much loved critters and post photos etc that then get "lost" in busy threads..

How about we put them in a special thread so we can enjoy ?

I for one working the odd hours I do would really enjoy that..

Would start this off but am on a different laptop ( my deepest thanks to boardsies for kindness) and not yet sorted my files..

    Over to thee..

Or even ... a special FORUM just for this purpose ... might that be an idea?

There already is one. Animals & Pet Issues

I will take a photo of my dog and upload it here later, because right now, he's being banished to the back yard as punishment (the equivalent of being grounded)

The neighbour knocked on the door last night complaining that he shat on his front lawn, and kept chasing his his son on his bike.

    Big long eared mutt.

I didn't even know he could ride a bike, never mind own one.

Yes meant to mention that; but that excellent forum is for sharing ways to feed and care for critters. etc
Advice on all manner of critter things. Wonderfully skilled and well informed expertise.

This is meant to be simply a CELEBRATION of our beloved pets. As we do already but in a thread devoted to our devoted pets with the joy we see here..

Can we move this or even change the name of the thread? I don't want to have to look at it every time I come into AH, thanks.

I had cake and some TK lemonade.

The post pictures of your pet thread is excellent on the Animals & Pets forum. Its exactly what you are asking for here. It's lifted many a dull day for me. I love looking at pets and I know some of them by name(The Tintin is an absolute legend and Milo is ever so glam)

Another thread on that forum is the recently departed pets thread. While it can be sad, it's also a real CELEBRATION of beloved pets as it's clear the love people have for their pets and how much love the pets give back. It's also a source ifor support for posters.

It's way more suited to there than here. There is a totally different type of poster there.

I think people who eat cows and pigs and sheep and then fawn over dogs like they're f**king children are utter hypocrites. The anthropomorphism of pets these days is becoming insufferable. If you spend some time around them, you'll know that the bacon and burgers you're chugging down were once part of an animal equally as smart as your beloved doggie.

They're also bad for the environment. Two German Shepherds use more resources just for their annual food needs than the average Bangladeshi uses each year in total. And while pet owners may disagree that Bangladeshis have more right to exist than their precious Schnookums, the truth is that pets serve little more societal purpose than keeping us company in an increasingly individualistic and socially isolated consumer society.

I know none of you care about my opinion but I just wanted to put it out there. So go on, have fun tearing me to shreds.

What about people that don't eat cows and pigs and sheep (left out horses btw) and then fawn over their dogs?

    Is that okay?

and, just to make this absolutely clear, if I kept a Bangladeshi for company I'd make sure they were well fed too!!

That's ok. Much respect for veggies and vegans. I am too weak to fully commit but try not to eat too much meat.

So if I follow you correctly, you're saying only vegans and vegetarian Bangladeshi lads should own pets?

I just find it odd that some animals are more equal than others. Most of you don't find this odd though, I just wanted to express my feelings here.

    1) If having meat is so wrong, would does it taste so good?

    2) If vegetarians love animals so much, why are they eating all their food.

    3) I missed my cat when I went on holidays and I don't care who knows it.

Since man could walk upright some animals have been domesticated some for food and some for work, some as companions.

Personally I don't find it odd that a farmer might get up in the morning tend to his livestock, then ride his horse into the fields with his dog in toe to hunt ducks, which might later be eaten.

Horse meat is a feature on many country's restaurants (I believe the French like their horse meat)

Dogs are eaten in many parts of Asia.

    Different strokes for different folks.

I'm 45 and have never had a pet (except for a shared goldfish when I was a child. The two halves didn't survive).

    As a non-pet person, I'm obviously a deviant.

    Nice.
So it's not fair. What is that, a revelation?
It's all unequal - and if you broaden it out beyond this thread it's all unfair.
Pics of pets is what the OP suggested. Hypocrisy? If so, then we all have that taint - all of us in one way or another.
Perhaps we should just consume fish - they don't count, do they?
    Sardines, perhaps.
