"Hush up Joe, don't be getting ideas above your station." Mags mutes Joes strings. He looks at his hand silencing his instrument and then back at the instrument in the library.
From outside he reaches back through the door using Magehand to silent the vibrations running through the instrument (bass, lute, violin, dulcimer?).
OOC: It looks like a guqin

The instrument's vibrations stop. Nothing else seems to happen.

Mags talks to the tower/crystal while he waits for the others at the foot of the stairs to the second floor.
"The world song is not about destruction, it's not about creationism, it just is. Why have you framed this song to destroy?"

"Played correctly it should not be destructive. However your friends are simply too close to the song's source. It is unlikely they could withstand it"

As Mags backs out he finds himself standing, not in the landing with the crystal staircase, but in a large wooden hut with a ladder going up through the ceiling.

    The hut has five wooden doors. A, G, L, O, Y.

He hears no response to his question.

Iuric offers the time travel scroll to mags. "You are right, perhaps it is best you hold onto this"

"Library? I could peruse a library." Iuric steps through the door.
The library contains one large shelf of leather tomes. And six shelves of scrolls.

"Tend to them night and day I do" the old man says "I love them as much as any decent man could love a scroll...mayhap a bit more"

Retula checks for traps or markings then has him open it.

Iuric has a look at the books and reads their title "Anything you'd recommend?"

As the door opens a quick shot of flame incinerates Patinkin. The ash is deposited in front of the door.

Behind the door is a room with three straw beds and a boar rummaging about in some truffles.

Most of the scrolls have magical symbolism on them. Reading them is difficult without a Wizard's aid.

"Oh none at all, I simply replenish the ink. Just in case Ursula ever needs them. However it's no mean feat that. The inks must first be collected from the glade two miles to the East..."

    He begins to drone on.

Retula scoops up the ash and secrets it away.

"Hey piggy. A job just opened up. Wanna go see the world?"

Iuric allows him to drone for a minute "What can you tell me of Ursula?"

"Ursula...I'll only meet her once apparently, a few decades from now. She's famous as the world's most accomplished wizard. However all the others I've spoken to in this tower were hired by others already working here.

She prevented a war a long time ago and made sure its effects didn't get worse, then she retreated her to push the limits of magic. Or so the oldest employees here say"

"Well, if you can already talk, not a whole lot. Unless you're depressed but wracked by religious guilt over your suicidal thoughts. Line of duty is the only way to go.

But, I mean if you're not with me, does that mean you're against me? Standing near all that straw?

Come on, be a ragazzo, not a Ragu!

    Say, who's beds are these?"

Iuric opens the tome and checks a few random pages to see it they're in a language he knows.

    OOC: Just Common and Celestial

There are margin notes in Common, with a bit of effort Iuric is able to work out some of the tome's contents.

OOC: Intelligence Test, no fixed target, higher score you learn more

"Well when they get back you can tell them I didn't appreciate their little prank."

Bonfire on the middle bed and close the door.
Has anyone been through the K door?

One of the spells, forming the bulk of the second chapter seems to concern using echos of one's self for potentially lethal situations.

"Are there any tomes that expand on this topic?" Iuric looks at the man "How rude of me. I am Iuric Mercutius."

"You mean explaining the theory behind the magic. Fourth one across. She's a tough read lad. It's entirely in Common, but you'd need strong magical talent to make use of it.

It's the reason we have 'ready to fire' copies in the scrolls here. Just read out the Common, the scroll ignites and the spell works. Kastern a few floors up has the spells in his noggin but I know nobody else who does. Save Ursula I suppose"
