As a Vikings fan, it was always clear that there was something really good in Patterson. Unfortunately, I think New England is the place to find it.

    Like Moss was? :pac:

Moss wasn't a free agent we traded a 4th round pick to the Raiders for him during the draft in 2007. Was he even a cancer in the locker room either. He hated losing and fell out with Raiders due to it. Besides Bryant is nowhere near as good as Moss

Although I don't think Bryant's current ability would justify the locker room risk

His locker room nonsense never bothered me especially when we talk about possible Pats players as they usually shut up while in New England but he doesn't suit the Patriots system.

Agreed Pats are going to use him a lot underneath in the flats and screens and let him do the work on the ground.

Some nice moves by Dorsett and Patterson on that drive.

Have to say its annoying to watch Edelman out there given the incoming suspension. Whats the point of it? Really should be putting someone on the field Brady will actually be throwing to. Going to be a long 4 weeks watching him not be on the same page with some of these guys

We need both of these guys to get it done. Both looking pretty decent so far.

The TE Go Route up the sideline never ceases to amaze me. How many TEs outside of Gronk have ever caught the ball the amount of time we have used that play? I would say none.

Run blocking has been pretty abysmal tonight. Carolina are a good defense, Gilleslee getting crushed.

He's been out a full year though, needs reps even if he'll miss the first four weeks. The first 4 weeks will go fine, we did without Brady and went OK. It'll be the same for Edelman. More important for him to be good for deep in the off season.

    Eric Decker has retired.

I get that but we are extremely thin at WR and I would have liked to see Brady at least to attempt to throw at others. On the flip side him and Dorsett look to be finding rapport and he seems to like Patterson also.

On the Decker thing he was going to get cut anyways.

Shaq Mason resigned on a 5 year deal worth up to $50 million. One of the higher paid guards in the NFL now.

Delighted with that, was sure he'd test the open market next year as I doubted we'd pay him top dollar.

    Gronk got his new deal
From Schefter : Patriots reworked TE Rob Gronkowski’s contract, adding $4.3 million to his contract this year, per @RosenhausSports. Added $1 million in per game bonuses and $3.3 million in incentives, boosting max value to $13.050 million. Similar to Tom Brady structure.‬ ‪Gronkowski now can earn $1.1 million for 70 or more catches, $1.1M for 80 percent playtime, $1.1M for nine or more TD catches, $1.1M for 1,085 receiving yards. He can make three of those four, boosting salary another $3.3M. Base salary remains 8M. Still has two years left.‬

I see we picked up JC Jackson out of Mary Land. Guy had a lot of off field troubles in his past including being accused and acquitted of armed robbery. Slipped right out of the draft due to it. This guy has huge potential if he keeps his nose clean and does his job and learns.

Said this back in April and I hope we keep him. I feel he has a huge upside and he showed his talents tonight.

Jordan Richards traded to Falcons, could to get some draft capital for him, even if it is only a conditional 7th!

I'd have given up a 7th not to see him in a Patriots jersey again.

    This news pleases me.

Yeah, he was a bit of a liability. Jason McCourty played some snaps at safety the other night, does this mean he'll make the roster?

They really like having both McCourtys so Im guessing they will keep Jason. Even though we really waste a spot on him

The guy can’t doesn’t do anything even close to well. Not sure what the Falcons have seen.

Ralph Webb released. I thought he might have made it as a cheaper Mike Gillislee. I assume he would be a Practice Squad candidate..... ?

Cyrus Jones released too. At least they're admitting that mistake early, and not prolonging it á la Jordan Richards!

Berrios and Izzo placed on IR. Glad we did this would like to see them get a crack next year.

Danny Etling released. I thought they may have kept him on. Certainly has more upside than Hoyer.....

Hoyer is pro ready and Etling has a long road ahead of him. I feel if we had the roster space we might have kept him as a 3rd QB but I would take Hoyer over Etling if Brady gets injured. I can't see Etling getting picked up anywhere so you never know he might be back at some point or at least to the practice squad

read that Eitling was told awhile back they were going to release him with the hope he goes to the PS. I'm glad we're keeping Berrios, think he could be a long term replacement for Edelman if he keeps developing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,649 ✭✭✭BaronVon

Etling made it to the PS, along with:

    DT Vincent Valentine

    RB Ralph Webb

    WR Riley McCarron

    CB Jomal Wiltz

    OL Cole Croston

    OL James Ferentz

    DE Trent Harris

We also signed 2 WR's to the roster, Chad Hansen from the Jets, and Amara Darboh from the Seahawks. Darboh was a 2017 3rd round pick, and Hansen a 2017 4th rounder.

Texans are going to be a tough match up with our WR issues. I hope that Dorsett and Patterson can translate their camp performances onto the field. Really hoping Sony sees some gametime too.
