Don't get the trails, if you're unhappy with ride on your current tyres get road tyres.

Just had a look at what the make of the tyres are that are actually on it.

They are called Metzeler Tourance? Whenever I go around corners, crawling it at that, the back sometimes feels like it is slipping away from me.

Are you guys familiar with those tyres? I'm guessing the purpose is in the name?

Yes, they're trail tyres so for road and dirt, you're not going off road so just get road tyres.

Stick with Michelin or are Pirelli any good?

Thanks for all the advice, I sincerely appreciate it

Is that price for both tyres?

Just realised my own bike has the exact same sized tyres.

    That's right. €235 in total delivered. :)

Reading the comments above re trail tyres. These Scorpions are a very similar pattern to the Metzeler Tourance Next. Loved the Tourance. Never a problem with grip in the wet or dry. Never went off road (Intentionally) So can't really say what they would be like. Last set of Tourance which I had fitted I noticed that the rear was made in China. All the previous ones had been German made. Again no problem grip wise but the tyre wore in the centre. Most if not all of my riding is done on secondary roads and previously the tyres wore reasonably across the full profile. When down to the wear marks in the centre, ( at about7000 to 7500Klm) I would have maybe 2.5 mm at the sides. This time however I have almost 3.5 mm left. Maybe it's a one off, maybe not. I use Angel GT on the FJR and am happy with these so I decided to go with a set of Scorpion.
Just discovered 2 new valves enclosed with tyres.

Pirelli Angels are available in your tyre size and are 230 ish fitted. I know 2 lads running them on adventure style bikes and they are very good tyres, check out some reviews online. I'm running Dunlop RS3s at the moment and they're brilliant but more expensive. The Angels are ideal for your needs and would be better than any trail tyre. You want a tyre that gives you confidence in all conditions (on the road) and winter is coming. The right tool for the job.

    You're probably just nervous.

The Metz Tourance or great wet and dry. In the dry your DL650 isn't putting down enough power to trouble your tires.

Also check your pressures and tire wear. If you're not sure on the tyre wear take a photo of the rear tyre and post it here. If its squared off you might be getting a little instability, but its really unlikely the tyre is breaking away.

Depending on the bike, a few pounds off in the pressure can make it feel unrideable

If there's a difference between the recommendations of the bike manufacturer and the tyre manufacturer, go with the tyre manufacturer. The bike manufacturer's recommendations are only valid on the exact same make and model of tyre that originally came with the bike.

Here are the 2 tyres and the bits of cosmetic work that needs doing.

I am a bit nervous to be fair but no doubt that'll go soon.

I'll have to read the pressures on both, it is possible they are over inflated.

What was your experience of them from a grip/wear point of view? did you get long out of them? It only seems to be the back tyre with me which looks virtually brand new.

Some will say I am either mad or have more money than sense to change those tyres but the ride isn't great on them.

They Wore well, but the grip was poor in the wet. Never felt right. Didnt give me the confidence in the bike at all.

The Bridgestones have had fantastic grip in comparison and got about 18,000 Miles out of the rear until swap. Only changed because of the thread still amazingly had grip

The bike shop were just off the phone to me.

A speedo cable for the bike appears to be elusive, even the manufacturer might not have them

    Sounds like myself.

Wasn't happy with them on a dry road, let alone a wet/damp road which I drove last night and had very little confidence in them.

    Aye blade1.

The scooter is in the shop, collecting it tomorrow.

They got a spurious cable and it wouldn't fit it.

While the bike is an MBK Nitro YQ50, it is essentially a Yamaha Aerox, or so I thought.

Not all parts are interchangeable i've been told and given how rare that particular bike is, parts seem to be few and far between.

Fowler's are the crowd in the link I gave.
I deal with them all the time.
Contact them about any fitment worries you have and they should be able to tell you what's what.

I tried to purchase the cable in the link and it says they don't deliver to my Irish address.

Will email them and see what they come back with. :)

That tyre is in great condition. I've used them and could ride them off their edge, I found them great.

The chipped paint like that is typical for Suzuki.

    Just a case of confidence?

I'll probably brush it down over the weekend, apply Kurust and then get black hammerite for it.

So you're saying the tyres are crap but you don't even know if the pressures are right...?

I’ll report back on the pressures later tonight

If u can take a close up pic of your rear tyre that's shows wear from center out to your chicken line.

Tyres can show what's going on,even sometimes you can tell if your suspension is set correctly by wear on the tyre.

If anything the tyre is over inflated and not under.

Also just seen it came with Bridgestone Tyres from the factory

    That look fine Prisoner!.
Basically you want your suspension and not your tyre, doing the work over bumps.

    Thanks for that :D

I'll check the pressures on it later so and hopefully I can ride on

BTW, Fowlers got back to me, they were able to trace the cable through the engine number and gave me the part code. £14 + vat so when converted and delivered about €25.

Just waiting for confirmation that they will deliver to R.O.I

    Result!
They do post to Ireland as I got stuff from them about 2 weeks ago.
If you are ever stuck getting parts because of being in Ireland you should use Parcel Wizard, Address Pal or similar.

I use them sometimes even if the seller ships to Ireland, as often it works out cheaper.
