    Kimi for the win.
All he needs is circumstances to take vettel out of the picture then he gets a fair chance.
The Ferrari is so strong this year that it would be odd if things don't align for him at least once.

He would have to be best if the rest including Hamilton. The cars are comparable but the Ferrari isn’t so much faster that it can make up for kimi’s deficit to Hamilton.

So you need Vettel and Hamilton to retire or be way down the order, and Kimi to be having one of his good days. Not even 50/50 I’d say.

That Ferrari is still faster than the Merc and Vettel is a better driver than Hamilton if he can keep his cool :pac:

I support Seb but I think Hamilton is the better driver. I think if Mercedes can give Hamilton a car that’s within a couple of tenths of Ferrari, he’ll win the title

    Hard to call.
If you remember Seb in the red bull when it suited him. He was on beatable.

I expect Kimi to show Vettel his knowledge and cunning of Spa this weekend. Spa is a great track, one of my favourite of the season, and Hamilton is likely to have a stumble with mounting pressure from the Ferraris. I will say a few years ago Hamilton had a stonker of a qualy lap to get pole - credit where credit is due. SO, Hamilton for pole, to get mobbed by the Ferraris in the race.

    Mostly cloudy, spotty showers; cool

    Sunday

The funny thing about AccuWeather is that it never really seems to be accurate - at least on my phone anyway! :-)

That could very well be the situation, but if Vettel is second and Kimi is winning, even at half a lap, Kimi would unfortunately give it up.

It has to be recognised that Raikkonen is the King of Spa in the same way that Berger was the king of Hockenheim.

Over the last few days I have watched Belgium 1998,2005,2010 on Sky and to see how the track has evolved over the years is terrible.

The old bus stop chicane was fantastic as was the old grid which started on a bend.

Bring it all back I say.

I don't mind that, and that's the way Formula 1 is these days. The Vettel/Hamilton decider for the last race is what I'd like to see. On paper it may say Vettel as the winner, but hardcore F1 fans will know the true winner. We should move to the Race thread for further discussion...

As an completely different thing, any news on FI and what is happening with investment/drivers/team structure?

It was basically an existing team, Prost racing of the season before. They bought all their equipment but were not allowed to compete.
    BAR was banned for cheating.
Else had to be the FISA FOCA time where teams were excluded.

It seems Porsche lost interest with all the politics in F1 and we won’t see the engine rules changed for 2021.

“Not Force India” could start as new team from Spa onwards as the takeover of Force India doesn’t work as expected. Realistically they still would be able to get to 6th maybe in the WDC.

...it would be great if they really called themselves "Not Force India" for the remainder of the season :D

I know Perez and Ocon saying that it's business as usual but anyone have any idea how likely it is that Force India will be racing this weekend?

I'd say the rest of the lower teams are delighted.

    Let's get freaky

    https://twitter.com/tgruener/status/1032561679492677633

This deal should be finalised today if they get there. Two more teams need to signup for that.

Fernando Alonso rejected Red Bull offer

    A shame this didn't happen.

There's a bit more to the Alonso - Red Bull story I think.

Alonso was offered the Red Bull drive subject to Honda approval which wasn't forthcoming.

McLaren have a deal in place with Alonso that if they get their house in order sooner rather than later and produce a race winning car that Fernando can come back to it on the condition he stays in the McLaren family such as Nascar and they said if you go to Red Bull you aren't coming back for a third time. Not to mention you had 3 years of uncompetitive Honda engines.

If the Force India merry go round does occur in the next week I can see Alonso sacrificing himself for Vandoorne so that an F1 driver won't go an entire season without beating his team mate in qualifying.

Even if Alonso & Vandoorne remain at McLaren for the rest of the year and Vandoorne outqualified Alonso it would still be 12-9 so the battle is already well and truly won

Anyone care to add to this possible sequence of events?

Didn't Hamilton also say he had an offer from a rival top team? Considering how reluctant are Ferrari to change driver line up I suspect it was Red Bull stirring things up.

I don't think it was serious in either case.

I doubt Fernando would even get into a taxi if it had a Honda engine.

    This too shall pass.
